BTW given:
maxiq = 100;
miniq = 0;
IQ distribution of general population follows the 'normal curve'.
numslashdot readers = 100;
if you have if 60/. readers have an iq of 70 and 40 have an iq of 20 the average iq of a/. reader is 50 (or average) but MOST/. readers have an IQ that is significanly above average.
I predict that in 10 years 100% of the clothing people have on their bodies will be WEARABLE.
From medicine, to science, to fashion "10 years" really means "someday we hope". The cure for Aids, alzheimers and celiac has been 10 years away for 20 years now.
I think 'wearable' computing for the forseeable future (10-20 years) will be restricted to PDAs, Cel phones and watches with mix and match functionality, increasingly the difference between them will be a choice of 'style' rather than giving up major features.
I think cel phones are going to win out over the others. They all have clocks, most of them are coming with some sort of PIM. More importantly, phones are about connecting with PEOPLE, not just data; people have a reason to carry them other than "geeking out".
All we need is some good NAND memory and a universal architecture (java mobile or transmeta anyone?).
Now if I could just get Samsung to listen to me about their phone apps......
I'd have to give them props for trying to clean all this stuff up.
Slightly O.T. That whole 2003 DRM issue, trying to use the law to force everyone to buy 2003 products... If everyone has to use 2003, it's kinda like the Cheeta (limited genetic diversity) a single virus could wipe them out, all they need is one little chink in their armor.
I was tech support @ an isp for a couple years. My job was essentially to play quake 2, UT, and whatever else I could bring in on our support machines.
Despite the distraction of playing video games ALL day (8-10 hours depending) I was still one of the highest rated tech support people there. It was really a very good idea to be able to frag others online while dealing with the user (four letter word) on the other end of that phone.
The only thing that would have made it better would have been a 2nd computer so I wouldn't have had to alt+tab all the time.
On Earth 1 or 2 people die and we start inventing things to keep more from dying.
The Sol system is a little less friendly. A comet or other planet wide disaster is more likely to kill a very large portion of the planet, and totally destroy it's manufacturing infrastructure.
It would be far better to have a self sustaining economy away from Earth, one that could help rebuild our planet if BAD THINGS were to happen to it.
Before we can have a s.s. economy in space, we need to take first steps. We need to put people up there and find out what they need based on the circumstances, then we invent it and move on to the next thing.
The moon hopefully will provide enough resources for those living there to create what they feel they need.
As to your tax dollars, c'mon man, wouldn't you say your grand children being able to take a shuttle trip or elevator ride to the moon would be a good thing?
It's dangerous to 'lump' people and claim introversion is a genetic trait. It's like claiming sexual preference never is, or always is.
Some people have LEARED to become introverts when they're naturally extroverted. They get comfortable with where they are, but that doesn't mean they're happy with it.
I'm an excellent example of that. Getting through college was tough, I had a long drive and some pretty demanding teachers. When I finished I was living infront of the computer. I didn't remember another way of being. Comfortable, but unhappy. Now I'm forcing myself to go out again, and though not as comfortable as I used to be (I was previously Mr. 'I want to be the center of attention') I'm a lot happier.
Apparent introversion could also be from a lack of acceptable choices. Ex, you're an extroverted Jew, but you live in a town full of extroverted Nazis. They may invite you to the party, but you probably don't want to go...
These cards are just standard card's running Zalman's ZM80 cooler.
I bought one of these for my GF3 and found the kit well made, and easy to install. Overall a good setup.
I later bought a Sapphire 9700 Pro Ultimate Edition with a ZM80 pre-installed (just like the cards above). The heat synch was improperly aligned, the conduction tube was bent away from the sync and almost NO thermal compound was evident between the tube and the heat sync plates. (Zalman's install instructions stress the importance of maximizing contact area between the plates and the tube)
I WOULD buy another ZM80, but I wouldn't buy another sapphire card with one pre installed.:(
IMO stay away from these cards. buy a regular version, and install a passive cooler yourself.
...larger than a pda?
Sounds like a roll of toilet paper.
Too bad TP already has the market covered.
That name sounds like a marketing play on "Tim Allen" doesn't it?
Probably some sort of Einsteiniean relativity whatchamagig.
Or maybe we're just hosting some really small gallaxies inside our own....
Or maybe it's a case for a fractal universe...
or maybe I just need to go to bed (1am here)
Excellent quality keyboards, ONLY the keys that you need. (and I'm not talking about their new big keyboard, I'm talking about their smaller ones)

Programming, web-dev, sys admin, tech support, hardware support, long-range IT planning, board member....
this is just stupid. why bother with that when you can have THIS.
Well, it's plastic, but it IS sorta like armor.

Your right wing capitalist propaganda will not fool me! I will never give in NEVER!!! MWUAAHAHAHHAHAHAH!
That said, I'll check it out. Thanks.

1. If you don't have an immediate response tell them you'll think about it. "I have to check my shedule." or "let me make sure that's ok"
2. A second approach would be to counter with a suggestion that would save you time and benefit the company. "or we could.." or "what if...."
Those 2 usually get the job done.
In principle I agree. I know many of my friends do as well.
Though I think Jolie is a good match for the character the movie plot, and a large amount of 'popcorn dialog' ought to be replaced.

Next time run in Arizona where I'm registered!
Superconductors anyone? If we could figure out a way to transfer some of the spin to linear motion at the end of a wire..
YEA BABY!
Man it seems like that stuff NEVER goes away. Haven't we invented 10 technologies to get rid of that stuff already?

KDE is waaaay better as a ui than xp.
...and I'm a windows junkie
some of the enviro configuration stuff is a bitch to figure out, but the rest is really easy.
A Hammer, that's all you need! And when you're done, you can pretty much be sure you'll NEVER have a call back for that machine again!

LOL! Hell yea! (I've done just that at work)
Umm, yea, and that's what most cards DO!
Nvidia may have been on the right track, but then their card produces MASSIVE quantities of heat. ATI doesn't get that hot (comparitivly speaking)
How about the 'valley girl' next to you who just got the best nail job in the universe and she just has to tell all her friends?
