The thing with the Democrat party is that they feel they can solve (or at least greatly improve) all of our problems if they just pass enough legislation. This is about as stupid as a libertarian who says that getting rid of all regulation will solve all of our problems. The truth is the best solution is somewhere in the middle, but most people are too lazy to try to find it. And those that try are considered the enemy by the two parties because they are neither left enough nor right enough.
The reason your dad (or grandfather) likely held the same job his entire life is because 50 years ago, employers were invested in, and took care of, their employees. My grandfather worked for GE his entire life (outside his time in WWII), and it wasn't because there weren't other jobs he could have gone to. They offered him a pension, which you just cannot find anymore. Today you get crappy health care, and if you're lucky a 3% pay raise every year, and if you are high enough on the ladder, a Christmas bonus that actually means anything. Employers just don't invest in employees like they used to.
I remember when they came out with MTV2 as a response to complaints that there was so little actual music videos on the original MTV. Their slogan was "Where has all the music gone?" or something like that. Within the first year it felt like MTV2 had pretty much dropped all their music video programming and was showing the same stuff as MTV.
No, the concern of anti-abortionists is that they feel that an unborn child still has the right to life. Most pro-choicers seem to either ignore or not realize this, and keep shouting "it's the woman's choice", as if that were the flip side of the anti-abortionist argument. The discussion that needs to be had is not "does a woman have a right to an abortion?", it's "when does a human gain the right to life?"
I completely agree. 99% of harassment is done for personal reasons, ie, the harasser wants to feel powerful knowing they are causing someone to feel a certain way (and making someone feel bad is usually much easier than making them feel good). When you give them nothing, they quickly move on to another target that will give them what they want. Only when you get someone mentally unstable do they continue to harass someone with no feedback whatsoever.
Actually just the other day I read a report showing that the Book of Mormon shares a very large number of similarities to a book written a few decades prior, but the name of that book escapes me right now.
I enjoy the irony of your statement. You realize the birth certificate controversy was started by Hillary supporters during the 2008 presidential primaries, right?

Are people within their rights to be upset that Reddit is changing their policies? Sure. But Reddit is also within their rights to do as they wish with the soapbox that they own, and let others stand on.
Just remember, you have the right to be offended. You do not, however, have the right to *not* be offended.
Seriously, I rarely hit my 250 MB data cap, and that's only if I decide I want to play Ingress more than usual. And that 250 MB is shared between my wife's phone and mine.
What you are seeing is the market correcting itself. Prices are returning to what they should be. The problem is not the crash, the problem is the high prices that exist right before the crash.
Yeah Vermont is very odd in that regard. Vermont used to be a very reliable conservative state, and would constantly vote republican in the presidential elections up until a few decades ago. Due to our culture of being comfortable around guns though, there isn't really much of a push to restrict them, despite the state becoming far more liberal.
I live in Vermont, and I don't pay anything to have my criminal record reviewed, nor do I have to pay for a permit to purchase, open carry, or conceal carry a handgun, rifle, or shotgun. I can purchase as many guns as I can afford.
Because a government would never use its powers to do something like illegally spy on its own citizens, or hold people in prison for years without trial...
But please, tell me more about how you pay too much for your internet connection.

Don't forget boredom... I find boredom is the biggest reason I eat when I'm not really hungry.

Seeing as Bush has an MBA from Harvard Business School, I am going to guess that the "idiot-child" is more educated than you are.

The Late War, thank you! That was the name of the book in the report. I was racking my brain trying to remember it.
Actually just the other day I read a report showing that the Book of Mormon shares a very large number of similarities to a book written a few decades prior, but the name of that book escapes me right now.
I suppose when you yourself are far left but tell yourself you are moderate, then everything seems far right by comparison.
Why do you think a businessman would be for a free market? Businessmen prefer regulation in their favor over free markets any day.

"Superfood" is a marketing term that means "we are really trying to push this food product"
Maybe the outrageous way Pao was dealt with will make a few people stop and think about the wisdom of that.
Unfortunately these types of people are also the type who rarely, if ever, "stop and think"

Pretty sure his development is already screwed up.

"Unregulated capitalism"? I take it you have no idea how much the Chinese government controls the economy over there.

Yes, I meant specifically in Vermont you can do all these things.
I live in Vermont, and I don't pay anything to have my criminal record reviewed, nor do I have to pay for a permit to purchase, open carry, or conceal carry a handgun, rifle, or shotgun. I can purchase as many guns as I can afford.

You have a right to be offended, just as I have a right to not care.
Sorry, I meant "taxing something into oblivion", not "banning"
