    in my experience the parrot can rise at a rate of 1 foot every 3 seconds. At that rate it would take 1.5 hours to reach that height under full 100% load, which is far beyond the battery capacity.

    hence the clause we're going back and forth on, "the end of democracy in America." The democracy in America is the democracy that the founding fathers founded, not some greek definition. so creating anti-gay legislation threatens the foundations of democracy in America. so we agree?

    must disagree. we're not talking about the textbook definition of democracy, but about the end of US as a democratic country. In order for the US system to function there needs to be basic protection of minorities on certain fundamental issues. By allowing the majority to take away the status of gay minorities, this weakens to foundation of US democracy. that road is totalitarian at the end.

    No, what would lend credence to his claim would be a US state enacting a same-sex marriage law without the necessary majority support from elected representatives.

    another thing that would lend credence to the end of democracy would be the majority enacting laws to punish the minority. might makes right? that's not democracy.

    just get an ipad. done and done. if you get an airport express wifi station you can set it up from the ipad. don't need a windows or mac to configure the router.

    fact about the 10" ipad. it has a 90% size keyboard, and i can touch type 40wpm on the screen. no way a smaller ipad (or a keyboard shell built for the smaller iPad) could do that.

    here's why it matters. iPad 10" has a 90% size keyboard, sufficient to the point I can touch type at 40wpm. since i use the ipad as a laptop replacement when traveling and need to stay in touch with everybody via email, it is the only size that works.

    Or, the ARM chip is capturing a frame from time to time and sending it to Google for analysis, so they know what you watch and when you watch it, and can sell that information to marketers.

    has to request toilet paper and soap on a per use basis which is sometimes granted and sometimes not.

    How awesome is that? It's somebody's job to fetch him toilet paper. I bet Richard Branson doesn't even have that. Considering that all his meals are prepared and delivered and he never has to go out and run errands, it's pretty sweet.

    are there different rules for military, with military tribunals instead of trials, for example? I wouldn't be surprised if when you enter the military you agree to be bound by a tighter code.

    iOS allows you to enable / disable push notifications on a case-by-case basis. it's all in a single setting, so you can toggle all notifications whenever you want. Also, iOS has a setting to disable the data connection when you're roaming, so you can toggle that when you need it as well. options, they're great!

    Can you hold the device in one hand and 1) unlock the phone, 2) type out a text message with your thumb, and 3) adjust the volume with the rocker without using your other hand? If not, you might need a smaller phone

    I would add two additional qualities to the list in the summary:

    4) can you dial easily with one hand?
    5) does it fit in your pants pocket comfortably?

    A small user base may want what is essentially the 21st century equivalent of a pocket protector (or a hip holster) but most of us men carry things in our pants pockets. Many women would carry it in purses, which would negate issue (5), but issues (1) through (4) would be even more pronounced.

    I think a large part of this is a generational change; there was a whole generation inculcated into downloading Ace of Base on napster; new kids use official channels. Tis bodes well as the original generation becomes old dogies who don't buy music anyway.
