Even if they win this argument and individuals are liable for their own copyright infringement, the next argument will be then as a website you have to be able to identify the person who uploaded to your service so the infringing person can be prosecuted. I foresee the days of anonymity gone soon (10 years or less) in the EU's internet.
This should be very interesting. Are they a "web search" monopoly or are they an "web advert" monopoly or a "user uploaded video" monopoly. Should the government differentiate between say professionally developed videos and user uploaded web videos? I mean they have utter and complete control of the user uploaded video market and they take away peoples livelihood on a whim leaving people no where else to make a real living. I am just interested as to how they determine which factor is the monopoly or is it all of them. Is it because they dominate all of those areas and user each of the dominate areas to make each other even more dominant. It would be very interesting if congress decided they needed to split those businesses up, you may actually get more than one "YouTube" finally. I mean others exists but YouTube has to have like 95%+ market share of user uploaded videos.
They are taxing companies with employees that work there, not just that live there. Do you think these employees would rather pay to help with homelessness issues in the communities they live or Seattle where they work? Well they have no choice now. Because they work in Seattle their company's will make less money and their wages will get reduced/not increase and the communities they live will have less money to take care of the local issues.
All this bullshit YouTube is doing to building towards their demise. If no competitor comes in then we are looking at full scale unions between YouTube's. This is peoples jobs and when YouTube can take away your years of hard work with a click and never offer an explanation they have way too much power. Much much more money flies though YouTube than Uber and the state of California was debating considering Uber drivers employees. It's only a matter of time before YouTube realizes by taking full control of their users they are going to be forced to call them employees as well.
You don't know what you had until it's gone. YouTube is now censoring their users' content at an alarming rate. People who just swear or even talk about sex jokingly see their channels demonetized at the least and deleted at worst. Free speech on the YouTube is limited now as they play thought police, judge, and executioner.
99% of people have no idea who is producing, writing, and directing movies. I'm sure if a women makes a good movie, writes a good script, or is a good actress then they are still doing just fine. If something makes money the person that made it will make money, no question about that.
That is just wrong. Sprint's spectrum is at a worse/cheaper frequency. Sprint's spectrum requires more towers because it has less propagation and gives worse service because of worse building penetration. Their spectrum is essentially useless except for big cities and ever in big cities it has horrible penetration so you even if one skyscraper gets in between you and the cell site then you get bad service.
I really hope this gets blocked. Not only because basically the number of carriers drops by 25% but because Sprint is a horrible company and I'm afraid they will infect T-mobile with their poor service, customer service, hidden fees, and more.
You are in such a backwards world. Explain more what "would" happen, since pretty much you are just saying what the biggest dick thing to do would be and saying conservatives would do it. What are saying is hate mongering.
Iâ(TM)m with T-Mobile and Iâ(TM)ll do anything I can to avoid Sprint like the plague. Everything they do is garbage, from customer service to hidden fees.
What we need is responsibility on the individual breaking a law, not the carrier of the information. The internet should be like the air, it carries sound from person to person but it isnâ(TM)t the airâ(TM)s fault for doing so. You wouldnâ(TM)t blame the post office because someone used their service to ship a package with illegal drugs in it. The internet and websites that rely on user submitted data such as YouTube, twitter, and yes the hosting providers, need to be allowed to do their job which is carrying the data of the user, without being responsible for that users message. The individual user is responsible for their message. Policing is difficult as users cross cities, states, and countries and have anonymity, but paper mail delivery has the exactly same issues and we donâ(TM)t blame the post office.
If those cars weren't taking the side streets the other roads would get more traffic and would probably need to be two or three times as many lanes anyways. If anything Waze or any map application is reducing congestion.
No substance, no point, just saying people are out of touch about... uh about.. he doesnâ(TM)t say... and the problem is... wait there is no problem... and the cause of this he says is... maybe trump because... uhh... well that was a very big waste of time. If you havenâ(TM)t read the article donâ(TM)t bother.
1. POTUS job concerns everything in America.
2. Speculation. The city of Seattle where Amazon's home office is located has the most liberal city government in the country and just said the same thing, that Amazon doesn't pay enough taxes.
3. Tweets don't damage a company. It is the fear of regulation that affects the stock price. And stock price has almost no impact on the number of employees needed to perform their jobs besides some pressure on executives to streamline things if they aren't growing. If you want to look at what has affected stock price look at the department of treasury which has raised interest rates tremendously since Trump took office.
4. Every president has hired and fired tons of people the only difference is every change of position is publicized. 99% of the people that are getting 'fired' are in positions most people didn't even know existed until Trump was president.
Everything Trump has done has improved the economy and security of the country. Name one thing where he has actually hurt the country besides a few people's feelings.
I totally agreee. The people thinking this will change things are the same people who thought removing piracy search results from google would stop piracy. No, it only hides these places from the good guys even better and keeps more online.
Could a new startup PLEASE dethrone YouTube. There are a million video sites but none of them does social networking and subscriptions quiet like YouTube. Youtube has way way too much social networking tools to users and content creators actually and it is their key advantage. Now that they are a household name, their brand alone is an advantage as well but not for long if they keep trying to censor the creators or make them walk on egg shells knowing a small little slip of the tongue could cause your videos and even your channel to get banned or demonetized (and you being essentially fired from your job). That is another option, YouTube Creators could create a Union to give them at least a tiny bit of strength against this overfed and power hungry beast that wants to dictate you their terms or face your entire livelihood destroyed.
If someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but as I understood from a previous article, the Venezuelan government is not allowed to issue debt on their oil by even their own laws. But by issuing cryptocurrency it is essentially selling notes exchangeable for oil they can't provide (so basically debt). That is an interesting thought about what cryptocurrency is really. We know regular currency is basically debt exchangeable for goods, so cryptocurrency is the same but where is the value of crytocurrency coming from? Basically all large companies stopped accepting bitcoin and even dark markets are switching their coin from bitcoin because it is too traceable.. I just don't see how bitcoin is even maintaining it's current price because if you can't buy anything with it then what use is it? I guess does anyone know what you can still buy with bitcoin?
Seriously, can they please just be a carrier of information again rather than policing the entire web already. YouTube already requires you have a childrenâ(TM)s show or you get demonetized, now they decide what is risky for you. They need to stop assuming everyone online has an IQ of 5 and let people think for themselves.
Running is a pretty narrow topic, of course marathons is going to come up in relation. Algorithms are good at only finding similar things which I actually hate. Have you ever shopped for something only to have google spam you with ads for weeks on end for the actual thing you bought for weeks after you've already bought it. Human editors can be better at least they can have different topics, it seemed until recently where an entire news station or website decides to take a narrow focus and cater to single audiences instead of the general masses.
I already mentioned years ago on this very site that the EU fines and rulings against American companies were outrageous in comparison to worse and greater offenses made by European companies. This is just the next step, just tax a company simply for being American.
Even if they win this argument and individuals are liable for their own copyright infringement, the next argument will be then as a website you have to be able to identify the person who uploaded to your service so the infringing person can be prosecuted. Thanks dude. Your sentiments are exactly what I was talking about, not about breaking the law. Good on you dude.

Except this time they agree to denuclearize themselves, which means giving access for inspections to all nuclear facilities, military bases, etc.
Dude ty, that always happens when I post to slashdot
Iâ(TM)m with T-Mobile and Iâ(TM)ll do anything I can to avoid Sprint like the plague. Everything they do is garbage, from customer service to hidden fees.
Cash costs money but credit cards take a lot more depending on the size of the purchase.

I thought YouTube had already turned their whole website into YouTube Kids by demonetizing anything for adults.
