i'd probably kill myself if it was part of the internet for ever and ever.
Well, fortunately web sites aren't forever since the web space has to be paid for, to be kept up. Even free sites like Geocities destroy the accounts after a period of non usage, and the web sites go forgotten.
I once made a web site devoted to making fun of my hated junior high school nemesis. This was like 8 years ago. Is cyber bullying finally catching up to my middle school shenannigans?
I'm gonna go call up my parents and thank them for not being ruthless dictators when it came to my privacy. They basically let me do whatever I wanted and I turned out well adjusted. I mean, they trusted me so much that I have to lie and tell them I smoke just so I could get the yelling that I missed growing up. Geez, monitoring your kids access to the internet. I didn't even think someone on Slashdot would even think about it, but looking at the comments seems to be a pretty standard thing.
yeah, well your child will look at any content you deem innacessible no matter how much you monitor and track. I'm sure he has friends whose parents are more lenient with their internet access and he will get access to the restricted content and then just gradually distance himself from you because it's apparent that you don't trust him.
He never said that Linux shouldn't have an easier installation process. Just that Debian shouldn't have an easier installation process. The Redhat installation is already easier, IMO, than a Windows 2000 installation.
how have you stayed away from the 2nd SE when it hasn't been released yet? It must have been tough. BTW, the extended edition should be coming out on Nov 18th.
yeah, but they rereleased it in 2003 since they had to recall it... so I'd say it's still applicable. Oh, and it's just so cool it should be the coolest invention every year for the next 10 years.
but my guess is that once Disney drops Pixar, they announce a PG-13 rated drama.
Everyone keeps saying that but I think that will be far from the case. Have you ever seen the special features and behind the scenes stuff where they show Pixar studios or interviews with Lasseter and the other lead directors? Those people are very much into the Disney tradition. All of the lead guys there have kids and make movies for kids. That's about it. I think Disney did have a say in what kind of movies that Pixar was making under their deal, but I don't think that's going to change after the contract is up. That's my opinion, but time will probably prove me wrong.
maybe the wachowski's saw the commercial prospects after the success in the first one and hatched the evil plot to make the next 2 as bad as possible so that no company would ever be able to bring up a large franchise around it and thus ruin the original matrix vision. BRILLIANT!
Because it's better to see the movie at a theatre with better sound and large screen, months earlier than you can on a small tv with crappy speakers after already everyone saw it and was telling you how great it is?
If only there were some sort of database that listed businesses and their addresses. Maybe we could even get phone numbers in there and put everything in a book... a yellow book.
But who would do the commercial for such a crazy scheme?
Now, with CG fairies buzzing around him, singing a merry tune throughout the entire film, George Lucas will finally be able to realize his perfect vision of the Han Solo character.
well, hopefully they won't make him scruffy looking or else one of the lines in the movie won't make any sense at all.
If you outlaw guns, only the outlaws will have guns.
and that means what to this discussion? Nobody is talking about outlawing guns. Symantec is just blocking pro gun sites, and not even by default. So shouldnt your statement be "If you block pro gun sites, only the people without Symantec software will be pro guns?"
Man, here's a Salon article on all these tech-savvy people going on Atkins and it working for them and all the posts on here are just a bunch of naysayers talking trash about the whole thing and going back to the "eat right and exercise" mantra. It's like this in every damn Slashdot story, though, as if everyone in slashdot has to prove that they're such flagrant non-conformists by posting the complete opposite of what the story suggests (No, I'm not new to/.).
Well, back on track, I've tried "exercising and eating right" and it hasn't worked. So I tried Atkins, and I've been on it for 4 1/2 months and have lost 40 pounds. I don't know if I'll balloon back up as people here are suggesting, but I'll try my hardest to keep it off by maybe switching to "eating right and exercising" when I reach my goal weight. As it stands, not everyone on Atkins is a fat disgusting slob who uses the diet as an excuse to eat all the bacon he wants. For some of us, it's the only way that works.
perhaps they're keeping the really good stuff to themselves so they can invent it and reap the rewards instead of putting the idea out into the public domain? It's not like they asked a bunch of average people on the street with no means to bring their ideas to fruition.
all the recessions I can remember, 80-81, 91-92, 2000-2002
Maybe a recession is bound to happen at the beginning of every decade in the US? unless the sunspot cycles are affecting every other country, then your theory is flawed.
Here's one.
Dunno for you, but I know where my money would go if I had to bet ...
The monkeys?
Yes, I said outside. It's that place on the other side of the window by your desk.
can't I examine it from my window and get the same results?
Holy God, how did you ever find that link? I bet you've been waiting months for the perfect slashdot story to unleash it.
Seriously the funniest thing I've seen in weeks.
i'd probably kill myself if it was part of the internet for ever and ever.

Google execs probably eat children. They just don't publicize it.

But iTunes? I can't carry it on my wrist.
yeah, but at least you can store the iTunes installer on your wrist with your watch... doesn't that count for something?

I wonder how many points you get for actually saying something informative?!
