I E-mailed them and they said so.
This *does* suck. I can still afford it, but that pretty much wipes out my checking account. If they raise it again I'll have to take some drastic measures to get cash.
Wishing I hadn't recently sent a big check to my other brokerage,
Using 4.61 with Java and Javscript enabled here. Use it on three computers, running pretty much all the time. It crashes occasionally, but not much. Maybe three or four crashes a week, tops, including ALL the computers.
Actually I checked this out a few weeks ago, after coming across an interesting interpretation of Revelation that included the possibility of Chernobyl being the 3rd trumpet.
I did an Internet search, and found several USENET postings and a couple different websites indicating that Chernobyl does indeed mean Wormwood, and nothing saying it didn't.
Screw movies. I just want to use DVD-RAM to store home videos, preferrable recorded with a digital video camera. How soon will that be reasonably affordable?
Well, electricity is common in Guatemala and the rest of Central America, even in small towns. (And usually reliably but not always. In San Pedro Sula, Honduras, it goes out for a couple hours a day.) Even though geeks may find it hard to believe, computers ARE useful without phone lines. sure, communication is great. But if we can get these people computers and start teaching them how to use them, they'll be ready for the communications part when they get the proper facilities.
I have a third cousin that works in Coban, Guatemala, and she gets E-mail there. I'm not sure about PPP. Coban is a decent sized town, though not huge. It's a 4 hour bus ride from the capital.
I have been to places with no electricity (mostly in rural Nicaragua), but those people probably aren't quite ready to become Linux hackers yet....
Does the professional version have database and RMI support now, or do you still have to pay out the butt for that?
Last time I tried VAJ, it was version 1.1 on OS/2. It was pretty cool, but had some annoyances. Like the fact that it just happily pasted error messages right into your code! Of all crappy ideas..... hopefully that's been changed since then.
Jeopardy is the only show on TV worth watching. But my @#%!#$ station delays all games one day due to Monday Night Football. So I guess I'll have to wait till tomorrow...
That's exactly what I was thinking. Corel is a real company with real products. They will soon release a butt kicking Linux distribution and several butt-kicking apps for it. If Linux is so hot, and Corel so heavily invested in it, Corel *should* be at least at $50 by now with all the hype.
I have 500 shares myself, and perhaps I'll buy more... we'll see...
Also there's Inprise. Their stock is dirt cheap and they have a good deal resting on the success of Linux.

Living in southwest Washington, I really wish I knew something!!!
Originally they were saying it would be April 6-7 (I think). Then, just a few weeks before then (maybe less than a month), when I was really getting excited about it, they "rescheduled" it for late August. I checked the site in mid-August, and it then also said it was down for some changes.
Something is *really* screwed up with those guys. I also would very much like some more details!
I last tried WINE in May, and tried installing several apps. They ALL failed during the installation process, with the exception of a talking dictionary program (which did work to a certain extent). I tried Visual Age/Java, Hasbro's Risk, Stardock's Entrepreneur, an encyclopedia, a couple shareware games, MS Office 4.3, and I think a couple other things.
I have a 100% Microsoft free system and intend to keep it that way. But it seems like most people only get things to work when they have a 'Doze partition and install on that end. When are the Wine folks going to concentrate on getting installers working? If installers don't work, how is the real thing supposed to work?
Hopefully progress has been made in that area recently. But I don't intend to try Wine again until I get a new computer with XFree 4, hopefully in January...
I also had quite a bit of fun with Transport Tycoon. I liked RR better though.
Then there was the ultra-cheezy (no pun intended) Pizza Tycoon... scope out the neighborhood, open pizza stores, arrange furnature (!!!??), and fight off (or join!) the mafia. Yeah, what a game...
I hereby predict that when MSFT hit 103 a couple(?) months ago, that will be its all time high. It will *NEVER* get higher.
If I'm right, it would be a no-brainer to short sell it. I'm seriously at least 85% sure on this, but I've gotten burned by short selling before, so I'm a little reluctant to act on my intuition...
More on topic, I think Cobalt should be a good buy, assuming it doesn't open at astronomical prices. I'll be watching it.
(Disclaimer: I'm not a licensed broker. This is not an official recommendation. Just my gut feeling. If you invest solely on this advice, you'll probably get screwed.)
While Ephesians 6 clearly states that our ENEMY is Satan and his demons, and that we have a REAL, DANGEROUS war with them, I also see no good whatsoever in animating that war on a computer screen.
Now, if I really could go running around with some kind of "heavenly armor" and zap demons around me, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Would be kinda fun.:-) But we do have a weapon that's even better than that - PRAYER. THAT is the key to blasting demons beyond recognition!
As for Christian rock, there's quite a bit to like. My favorite rock song is Petra's "Enter In". It has an uncompromising message about our ability to go freely to God's very throne with any kind of request, and the music is as good as any rock song gets (IMHO).
I've had my share of chickening out of good opportunities, that's for sure. I'm not recommending that. All I'm doing is saying that 14 year olds shouldn't be looking for a wife! Clear enough?:-)
Right on. It should start with friendship in any case. I *would* advise to not get serious until at least 16-18 though. At your ages, get to be good friends. You don't need to worry about SOs yet!

I thought of that very verse as soon as I saw the question. You beat me to posting it. Oh well... :-)
Send that post up. It is *VERY* good advice!
Well, using RealPlayer G2 Alpha for Linux....
... *segfault*
You hear about 20 minutes of ZD guys blabbing, a Comdex hotshot, and maddog. Then maddog introduces Linus and
I tried starting it again and moving the slider over 20 minutes, but couldn't get it to continue playing from there.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUUUUUGHGHGHGHGHGHGH!!!!
Real, if you don't clean up your CRAPPY software I'm gonna get mad!!!

Hi,
:-)
How easy would it be for an American programmer (UNIX/Perl/C++/PHP) to get a visa for a job in a Latin American country?
I'd *really* like to live there a while to improve my Spanish. About any where in Central or South America or Mexico would be fine.
Of course, if you're down there and need someone, you can drop me a line... micah@myhome.net...
Is it possible/easy for US citizens to get IT jobs in Canada? I think it would be a cool (no pun intended) place to live.
I recently visited a friend in Edmonton, who payed $450CDN/month for a nice apartment in downtown.

I actually wrote a CGI with the full VB 5 once. It sucked horribly of course but it worked...

Did you have 'Doze native DLLs on the box? Or use Wine's open source replacements?

but this won't quite cut it. We need Linux pre-installed on computers, not just bundled with components.
I bet it will help gain a few converts, but most of the CDs will probably become coasters...

Lower shipping rates than Loki too...

That *was* real advice. You don't have to wait till you're 25. But you don't have to focus on that yet. You have LOTS of time!
Sure, I'd love it if the Right One(tm) came along. But until then I'm making the most of life as it is.
