And what makes you think the home consumer needs a http server farm? Take a look at most broadband contracts and you'll notice that you're not even allowed to serve up content as it's considered 'running a server'.

Ignoring the home users, do you really think that Fortune 500 companies are going to start stacking MSFT XBox-en in their server rooms to host their http servers? Cheap yes, but of course it's cheaper when you compare XBoxes to server hardware that has hot swappable drives, multiple power supplies, etc. Did I even mention the fact that you can't rack mount a XBox? Oh that didn't occur to you did it?

Your post is typical geek-speak. Sure it can be done and the cool factor is high. But ask yourself, WTF would you bother?

Every single time I've constructed a system from scratch, the system was always more expensive than a store system configuration.

The reason being that when you start shopping for individual components, you start buying stuff that is alot more powerful than the stuff in full system configuration. Start spending a few extra bucks here and there and it quickly adds up.

In the end you have a high end system that is no where close to the specs of the premade system, and it is evident in the cost as well.

The reason Beijing refuses to negotiate with Taipei is precisely because Taipei refuses to accept "one China" as a precondition for talks.

To negotiate with someone means you have to recognize and acknowledge that person. Or course China isn't going to sit down a negotiate with Taipei if they insist on claiming independence. That would be admitting defeat.
