well, that reminds me. Having to do my school project with a bunch of people screaming their lungs off playing Quake really got me cheesed off -- so I had my own games to play with them.
Wrote a remote shutdown program that responded to ping and installed it in the labs with help from fellow classmates. The minute someone plays games, his PC would mysteriously shutdown.
Spyware doesn't just contain the risk of compromising system security. It actually degrades the system performance as well.
I installed BearShare last year, not knowing there was spyware. It was only when my system started slowing down(sluggish games , slow window redraws) that I noticed that it has a loaded a spyware(SaveNow).
I have kept off installing any new software from then on untill I have verified that the software does not contain spyware.
This is especially important now that my family does electronic transactions thru the same computer too.
It is a pity, because of this, I generally distrust free-beer software these days.
Hate to turn this into a help-me post, but I have never suceeded starting IE for Solaris (both 5.6 and 5.8). The program just sort of runs but no GUI thingy comes out.
I tend to have problems trying to import Word 97/2000 documents that have quite a number of formating( Footers, Headers , frames, indexes etc)
It hasn't messed up my desktop yet, but the imported document tend to look different or SOffice just crashes.
It doesn't necessarily mean that Staroffice is not better, it's just that I have no choice but to stick to Word97 which everyone uses.It tough when you know you can't return a colleague his edited/corrected document that looks 'funny' on his Word program.
Well, that's just not true for me anymore My Windows 2000 randomly freezes these days, right after I changed my motherboard and processor. Yup, I have reinstalled Windows 2000.
RH7 Linux and Win98 works very well though.*shrugs*
Been doing that for a while here too. Lots of bounced mail everyday.
Beastwars/ BeastMachines were pretty good upgrades to the original TF. I like the characterization better than those of the original.

What great fun
Aren't we all suppose to rate that page to the lowest score?
I thought I did remember some poster saying so.
:)
I had a maxtor hdd refusing to spin up and it was making funny beeping noises.
I thought that the harddisk came with speakers, but later on realised that those "beeping" sounds were caused by the coils!
Is that radio station going to read the f*** word in the code or just bleep it out?
:)

Trillian 0.71 does not work under Wine though. A pity. I used to use 0.6x under wine when my licq refused to work properly.

Should be, I upgraded from a TNT M64 to a Geforce MX2. Same slowness.
Thanks for the comments everyone.

Any help here?
Well, Civ 3 tend to perform horribly under Windows 2000, Civ 3 + Win98 on the same machine had no problems though.
Horribly lag in scrolling.
Celeron 800 + 512 MB ram
Wonder if WINE will run into similar problems.
Gosh, that sounds like me!

"When loaded into the CD drive, the disc spun continuously as though the drive was trying to access the TOC of a blank or corrupted CDR.."
I hope that won't damage my CD drive. Someone better post some instruction on how to correct this, preferbly on a new clean CDR...
Oh heck. I'll just skip buying this CD(or listening to the song). Time to save some money.
Was there ever a memory limitation with QB?
I remembered moving off Qbasic/QuickBasic/GWBasic to C+ASM because I wanted to interact with the system resources directly.
Man. I missed those days. When the Internet came around I used to download the ABC packets monthly.
Haven't touched that language for a long while. Never will again I guess, now that I have Linux+Python+SDL.
what board this that? I have a board that freezes by itself becuase of the ACPI. Works fine after I changed the settings to Standard PC though.
Never had a problem with Win98 or Linux though.
Tried QNX too. No luck with VMware.
How about running XP in VMWare, would it work?
Open is _not_ Free!~
The first coffee port in the world to get slashdotted!

Sun : "The network is the computer"
Microsoft: "The computer crashes all the time"
The Beast Wars had a little joke on that when Optimus Primal made a remark about Teletran1(Gen 1 transformers)
"Die cast technology, its a lost art"
Isn't that by Hasbro and not Mattel?
