    Speaking seriously, once you have a basic income, you can get rid of the minimum wage as well as some parts of labor law, making the economy a lot freer. This might be a winning combination for Republicans.

    Since the Lod massacre in 1972, Israel has not suffered another terrorist attack against their airports or planes because they decided to take real precautions to prevent them. The rest of the world (for now) chooses not to follow their model.

    Cause it's damn expensive.

    The OsmAnd app allows you to download OpenStreetMap data ahead of time and use it offline.
    It was a lifesaver when I recently visited a third world country and my data plan stopped working.

    "Is this asset riding secular usage and technology trends?" What?? I wondered if I understood the meaning of the word "secular". I did. It means "denoting attitudes, activities, or other things that have no religious or spiritual basis". I can certainly agree that Microsoft is not religious or spiritual. Satya Nadella wants Microsoft to "ride trends".

    Actually, "secular trend" is a recognized technical term in economics and other fields, having nothing to do with religion or lack thereof.

    Already done. The last-resort drug this patient's bacteria are resistant to, colistin, is decades old. It's only used as a last resort because it's harmful to the kidneys.

    A "home server" is just a PC. Servers in the "cloud" are optimized for extremely heavy workloads. But when a server serves just one home, the workload is super light, and any computer can handle it.

    China, not India.
    China is the world's largest CO2 emitter by a large fraction.
    India produces less than a quarter the CO2 that China does (despite having a similar population), and less than half what the US produces.

    Nuclear is not renewable - once the isotopes are gone, they're gone.
    It is carbon-free though, which is what they really care about.
