You build a car, that the purchasers expect to be compatible with every part, seat, and accessory since the begining of the automobile industry and see hwo it goes.

Really Microsoft did write themselves in to a corner by supporting so much legacy code so well, and in such a complicated project, that if any little thing isnt right they get bashed for it.

Mind you I am writing this from mozilla while admining Unix boxes, but really for what they attempted Windows ISNT that bad

I disagree with you, in this case i think the computer crime punishment is less than what the "brick and morter" equiv would be.

Considering that to get the test answers in a "brick and morter" version, he would have otherwise have to break in to the school (breaking and entering), get into the office/room where they were stored, steal the book (petty theft), and since odds are he kept the password handy to see whatelse he could get into he pretty much picked up a keyring on his way (additional petty theft).

for those crimes in normal court, he could be pretty easily looking at 3 years, not to mention the possession and trafficing of stolen property for the keys, and awnsers.

I think the kid should count himself lucky, and take this as a lesson learned. Just because he performed this crime on a computer, doesnt mean he should be allowed to get off easy.

How do you know they wont enjoy anything?

Maybe the reason WE enjoy things is because we desire, and are able to fill that desire.

Last night I desired something spicey, and greatly enjoyed the chili I had after desiring it all day.

I'd be willing to bet a large part of our enjoyment comes directly from fulfilling our desires. The way I look at it its all programming, difference is nature did it in our case, and we are doing it for the robots.
