um, perhaps the rings are essential to the way the star sol is able to navigate in our galaxy, and stripping them might be like pulling out your retina.
i'd love to see something similar that uses sets of STEREO satellite data, time based flights through the solar system, the ability to visually display CME and their effects on each planet's magnetosphere/plasmasphere.
heck, how about a "milky way wind"?;)
great work on this guys! it's a great inspiration...
why stop with photos? as technology continues to leap, having a real-time "computer" navigable model of data via cameras would allow intelligence to capture and process data.
where would these cameras be? why would they have to be mechanical, why not biological cameras? insects, or "bugs", that have been genetically designed to transmit their image data over "wifi". and who would have control of the data? net neutrality?
but one spin that might be considered: fox news pushes information, and the viewer takes no action. however in the case of a search engine, the user actively chooses the search criteria.
this i think mitigates the filtering to some degree, and together with the constant flux of change on the availability of information (which wants to be free), i have a feeling the chinese government's battle can only ultimately fail.
[S]elfish individuals for their own selfish good will tend to be nice and forgiving and non-envious. One of the most important conclusions of Axelrod's study of IPDs is that Nice guys can finish first.
sounds buddhist in a way. is there such a thing as an enlightened corporation? to me it seems a sound philosophy for many different systems.
this is too true... i spent months with t-mobile trying to get a phone unlock code to use foreign sims in my phone, and it was never resolved. i ended up purchasing (quite cheaply) a new phone in taiwan (then un-available in the us), and am quite happy that i can now use this worldwide.
my biggest gripe with the subscription system is that non-paying users that don't subscribe and moderate are the ones that are making the system really work. it seems to me that the act of moderation by users should have some impact on subscription cost since it is not a trivial action.
aaah, i've been seeing all this 'peace love and tux' sidewald graffiti all over in manhattan, flatiron, soho, etc., and was wondering who was behind it all...
um, i think this will change once aol starts using netscape6 as the default aol browser... all those aol/ie users will then suddenly be aol/ns users -- a pretty hefty market share.
but the question i think is who is heading up the work in this area? i'm sure a bunch of people would be interested in it, but there's not yet any organization to it...

the solar system is an organism, too.

okay, so now that we've destroyed the ecosystem balance of the earth's surface, now our crusade is to go into the core? wtf?
> do you really expect it to form arbitrarily in space all the time?
who said all the time? all it needs is once, like a flame, to spark a fire.
quantum entanglement anyone?
na-ah... http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/vacation
intransitive verb, w/o object

it has something to do with jupiter's aurora (beautiful, isn't it?)
ah, but does the caps-lock key deserve to be in such a prime position? what about one of the function keys, or some other key sequence?
i personally have it re-mapped as ctrl (which is great for emacs)

there is no sudoku
but wait... this is for sales?
how often do new unix servers need to be bought -- if they're reliable and scalable, not as often?
an interesting point, to be sure.

this is one of my biggest gripes with airtunes, not being able to use it for listening to any video audio through my stereo system.
funny, mine's not binary...

the nytimes has an article on it as well...
and now you can drink the contents of your battery...
i've found merriam-webster online to be better than dictionary.com

don't forget ctrl-shift-esc for the task list...

i think 'abstain' would be to abstain from voting on that choice!
