Everyone is tired of more and more subscription services. However I do like the model of their news+ service: one subscription cost to 100s of magazines and the content producers are paid based on the amount of time their content is consumed.
This model is what I would prefer as a consumer for video streaming services as well. I might well binge on GoT or westworld at HBO - but little else, similarly for other streaming channels.
My dad uses my iPhone4S - I think it is from 2012. The battery is if course EOL now, sometimes the phone switches off. on his next visit, in 2 weeks from now, I will
Bring it to the local apple store to get the battery replaced. Then he is good for another several years of his limited needs use (mainly phoke, whatsapp, facetime, calendar, some photos)
I once did the battery exchange with my iphone 6 plus. Want to use it as long as possible.
These batteries may not be user replaceable, but 30 minutes without your phone after several years of use is pretty acceptable and a non issue to me.
My ex had a cancer related surgery some years ago. That went well, but the cfs started right after it. At first we thought it was a side effect of the anaesthasia (perhaps it is a possible cause?) but in any case she didn’t get better. A specific test (I can’t remember what they checked, it may have been a number of indirect elements) confirmed the likelihood of cfs. And while she was always enterprising before, after a long home leave she took on a lower receptionist half time job just not to be at home all the time and that she could bare manage.
yes, there is a lot of blaming the victim with this condition. We noticed the implicit scorn and disbelief because she didn’t look ill (though if you knew her well you could see she was all the time tired). And even if it was psychological, which I don’t think it was, well it would still be a kind of illness to treat. we tried all kinds of food supplements, vitamins, exercises etc to no avail. I heard that lately she was doing somewhat better since she went for a gluten-free diet as an experiment - though she isn’t allergic to gluten it seems to make some difference (though definitely not back to normal).
Apple does get a share of purchases and also of in-app purchases or subscriptions.
In that sense it is similar to any distributor of item such as for example amazon.
Part of the sale price goes to the distributor (which can well be over 30%), in exchange for the distributorâ(TM)s tremendous wide customer reach
As I understand it, Spotify could make its app free and requiring a login (and subscription setup) to be created on the Spotify website. It is indeed less convenient for the customer but then Apple wouldnâ(TM)t get anything (well, 30% of zero to be precise). There are several other apps that work like this.
But yes I can see their argument. I donâ(TM)t agree with the blocking features argument however, because honestly it would be all about tracking the user.
In general I am not so excited about a new tv streaming service.
But!
Apparently they created a series based on Asimov’s Foundation books. I am quite curious to see that.
This doesnâ(TM)t look like a good idea to me. A car is something that most consumers want to sit in and explore in the showroom. It is not like a book you order online.
Well, why use the internet at all then?
For us the cameras are very useful, not a gadget. What other solution would there be? One of us not working and staying home?
It looks to me that Nest’s security implementation is good, we use an an absolutely cryptic password that is not used anywhere else.
Context, dude. We are talking about babys-toddlers that we leave alone during the day with a daycare lady. We have the cameras since they were born and they are now exactly 2 years old. In a few years we won't need the cameras anymore.
We have 3 Nest cameras as well. Chosen mainly because they seem to work very well without network hassles. Plus htey have a wide angle lens, no need for a cam that needs to swivel around. Use case is remote checking on or twin toddlers and their day caretaker. Also handy is that if she calls us about an issue then we can immediately see it. Finally it is cool that it has support for many devices. Like, giving a tap warning on the apple watch when movement occurs - handy to be alerted when they come back home after playing outside for example.
Anyway, while I think that the devices are wonderful, the lesson in the post is simply to use non-trivial passwords that you have not used anywhere else. Then it should be safe.
It doesn’t need to be batteries. You could for example pump water to a higher plane during the day with surplus energy, and use a turbine at night when you let it flow down.
I understand that something similar is done occasionally with other energy sources.
I read that one of the series being developed for Apple is an adaptation of Asimov's Foundation books.
Would be curious to try it.
Esp, if the rumour is true that initially it would be free for Apple device owners, then at worst I lose an hour of time if the first episode is bad.
Sure, they sell less than expected, but from the start of the letter:
- Revenue of approximately $84 billion
- Gross margin of approximately 38 percent
That is still good profit for a quarter by any metric.
Many people prefer to use their phones longer, the price to swap is high nowadays, and I don't find most improvements that noticeable except for the cameras in the latest top smartphones which now yield pretty good results.
I changed the battery of my 5 year old 6 Plus and together with the "efficient" IOS12, it is still pretty usable with the latest OS.
I can see myself upgrading end of this year to this year's "XS2" or whatever it will be called. 6 years of usage of a phone is pretty ok. Many of my friends think alike, they like their iphones and will use theirs as long as possible.
Though I am quite impressed by the general quality of some affordable Android phones (a friend showed me his son's Xiaomi, and I found it very nicely made at a killer price), I will likely stay with Apple, walled garden and all. I do find the near seamless icloud data syncing between my phone, ipad, mac and apple tv truly pleasant and worry-free. that is worth something to me.
Indeed, exactly my opinion as well.
Though the camera on the newest generation is really quite a lot better - for me one of the most important extras on a smartphone.
I don’t get why your reasonable posts are literally always followed up by unimaginative insults by anonymous trolls. Pathetic really.
In general I agree yet his Star Trek movie was quite ok, I thought.

... because there are people who text and drive. They will hit you, and then it will be your fault.

It depends for which profession. Programmers, not much; for artists: interesting.
They could do an intelligent download from the app store so that only the relevant binary is in the package.
.... for purely a rumor.
I fully agree - you made a reasonable comment and got anymous coward bile in return.

Yes indeed the Chinese use a repeater satellite.

How do you use WhatsApp on your iPad mini?
Yes I wondered as well how it exactly happens.
I find this overly interfering with the private lives of the employees.
The legal subtlety may be that when torrenting, you don’t only download, you also upload.
How is this handled in Switzerland?
Indeed, exactly my opinion as well. Though the camera on the newest generation is really quite a lot better - for me one of the most important extras on a smartphone.
