    why would they scrap perfectly viable trucks/cars? it's going to be a matter of adding some software attached to a few motors to control the throttle/steering of an existing vehicle. (The software is the hard part to figure out, while being very cheap to reproduce once sorted out.)

    Right? i was driving to work this morning and some dingus was going 58 miles an hour in the left lane (4 lane highway, two in each direction). No one in front of him, huge pile of cars behind him.

    Given how bad people are at driving, and how they manage to cock up a morning commute for everyone around them, giving them an extra dimension in which to fuck around is just going to be a disaster.

    (This is without mentioning the obvious need for special camps in which to put people like the driver above.)

    uber is basically the manifestation of the current investment bubble.
    the fundamentals are bullshit
    the company is just evil in it's dealings with their drivers

    taxi cartels aren't exactly the optimal solution, but neither is uber.

    By 2020 they'll be out of business.

    That's Trump though, massively rich and successful businessman, and now the leader of the US; but his ego demands retaliation for any perceived slight. You'd think at some point getting upset over what randoms on the internet have to say would be a bit like getting your feelings hurt over a dog barking at you.

    okay well this is one of those situations where the letter and spirit of the law differ drastically. The bill of rights was created specifically to curtail this kind of bullshit (and what the TSA and similar agencies are now doing)

    The fact that we'd need a bolted on bill to reinforce the fucking constitution is just absurd. the founding fathers would be spinning in their graves over how far the government's overreach has gotten.
