You obviously haven't used a database application have you? Because based on your logic, a person would be better off to put their data on the filesystem rather than in a relational database.
Mod parent up. I've got lots of video I'd like to upload but alas, no can do. I'm running a Mac at home. This may be the first oversight I've noticed from Google. Video strategy but no Mac client. Unbelievable.
I've got to disagree on the Optiplex's. I bought 20 of them 3 years ago for my department. Within one year, 3 had to have motherboards replaced. I've since moved on to another department so I don't know how the rest have held up but 3 out of 20 seems a bit high for failure rate.
Dell of the mid 90's reminded me of Compaq of the mid to late 80's. My first desktop, a Compaq deskpro from 1985 could have been dropped from a building and still worked.
I think all Dell's are crap now. Its the road they took to mass produce with the cheapest parts possible.
When you start up Tiger, you'll see options to do a complete reinstall (erases everything) or an archive and install. This will archive all your personal settings and user folders. I used this on my mom's Mac and it worked fine. On my machines, I always erase the system and start over. Of course, I back up my user folders.
I had 3 linux computers and 1 windows 2000 machine. As of today I have 3 computers, one is my PowerMac Dual G5 2.0ghz, another is my iBook G3 700mhz dual booting between OS X and Ubuntu, and the newest addition is my Mac mini. My Mac mini is running Ubuntua 5.04 on it. I still have a need for a Linux desktop (I think). I probably could have done without it, but its just too cool of a little computer. Like you said, if I find I don't really have a need for it, I'll put it on Ebay and almost recoup my costs.
Honestly, I don't care. And I run Debian. People, the whole power of Debian lies in the fact I don't need to wait for a new release. I've been running Debian Testing on my servers for two years. I'm already running the next release. I couldn't stay on Woody. It got too old. I needed newer releases of PostgreSQL and Apache and others. So I made the decision to upgrade to testing and haven't had one problem on any of my 8 servers. Its no big deal if there isn't an updated release on a CD in my opinion. I can't stand installing from CD anyway. I've got SuSE Pro 9.2 and SuSE Enterprise 9 and Debian is far easier to administer and keep up to date.
Is Jon Stewart any less qualified than George W. Bush was when he ran?
Lets face it. Bush never had a job his father didn't set him up in. After his businesses failed, he decided to buy a baseball team. Then he decided to run for governor of Texas. Then he decided to run for President. I feel sorry for him that he's only going to be President for just under 4 years. What the hell is he going to do after that?
Or you could just encrypt your entire home directory with File Vault. I'm doing this in Panther on my iBook with no problems. Of course, you can still make an image thats encrypted with AES128 inside of your home directory thats been encrypted.
Why is my government more concerned about who a person decides to spend their life with than someone who purchases 50 guns a month? Something's not right here.
Pure FUD. Don't blame him. Fsck all DRM. And I purchase from iTMS. I've bought over 400 songs on there. I shudder to think what I'll do if for some reason I turn my back on Apple down the road, or they switch to a monthly rental for the music I already purchased. They don't even give me the ability to convert my purchased music to another format without having to burn cd's to do it. Thats crazy. Give me an option to convert on my hard drive Apple.
If you think that you would be signing a big fat contract with the music label, you're just as dumb as most of the artists out there. What you would be signing is a loan. You would be at the record labels mercy. Believe me, you are better off now. At least you don't owe the music labels anything.
I wouldn't compare their actions to Microsoft. I would go so far to compare their actions to the RIAA. And I own a G5, an iBook, and a iPod. I love their products, but I'm quickly losing respect for the company.
I've been planning on converting 8mm to DVD for a while. I plan to record the 8mm film with my camcorder and then import it into my G5.
I got my parents old 8mm projector last week and ordered 2 new bulbs for it. Got them in yesterday and hooked up the projector only to find out the gearing is stripped and the film won't advance. So now I've got to put the bulbs on ebay.
If you are such a music afficienado, why the hell do you want mp3? Why not demand that the downloads be in a lossless format like FLAC. That way, you can encode it however you want.
You must have some real piece of crap PC's. Maybe if you had combined the money and bought just one, you'd be better off.
But I'll bite. $167 per PC? Amazing.

Just when I get used to waking up to sunlight, daylight savings time kicks in and I have to wake up in the dark all over again. It sucks I tell ya.
This thing would make a great prank on a beach somewhere. You could sit on the beach with the remote and scare the shit out swimmers.
There's some flaw in your logic. Apparently, there weren't any private companies competing. Thats why the city implemented it.
What are the economic advantages for providing water fountains in parks? Cities would make more money by selling bottled water instead.
Maybe they did it thinking that more people would come downtown. It would be good for business. Property values would increase.

Get a real job? Ha-ha.
Didn't even get to play with Linux on it since Gentoo's been compiling since I got it last week.

I was about to argue with you on that, but I actually agree with you. The gov't should only get involved when they need to punish the company.
Apparently, not enough.
If thats the case, why would they be including Beagle in NLD 10? Isn't it still in early development?

My draft comes up April 10th. Time to look over my rosters. And time to write a Python program to determine how much a player is worth in my league.

They don't like to share their toys with outsiders.
Don't flame me. I'm an Apple user. So I know what I speak of.
