I tried a video call to a skype client on Ubuntu, but the iOS skype app was displaying cropped video. Has anyone else tried connecting to a linux skype client with the new app?
I've been using this router for a week now, and it's blown away my old linksys--which started to hang and reboot if I downloaded a heavy torrent. I want to put my USB printer on the N16, but haven't gotten around to trying that yet.
A police officer notices someone doing something slightly suspicious, so he approaches the individual and asks some questions. Not fully sure a law is being broken, he does his homework. After finding out that a law was indeed broken, he swears out a warrant for his arrest.
I have to say, I don't see anything wrong with that.
Now, I completely agree with your sentiments that the law is dumb and should be changed. But don't blame a police officer for doing his job.
FYI...you can get your emails, and contacts I think, by firing up good ol' Outlook (or Outlook Express) and configuring it for your hotmail account. Connect to your account, then export or save as or whatever. Although, I'm not sure if there is a non-Winbloze alternative.
It may be pricier than 400 euros to build your own HD mythTv box, but you may be interested in this (Comcast in my area issues Moto DCT 62xx boxes):
Feature of MythTV: http://www.mythtv.org/ -firewire capture method, for those with cable boxes capable of firewire output (Motorola DCT-6200 + cousins, SA 3250, etc). -Internal channel-change over firewire support for DCT-6200 series cable boxes.
Does anyone know if there a way to find out where a given spam email originated from? What if you own your mail server? I understand mail headers can be made up to contain anything.
I'd like to see an all out D.O.S. attack on these spam servers.
Does rapid improvement in processor technology cancel out the need for developers to learn how to write better code on a particular platform in order to achieve the maximum possible benefit from Information Technology?
It certainly does. I know so many people who took a single 'course' in Visual Basic and now think they are 'programmers'. It's an insult to us programmers. Task? Thread? Linked Lists? Arrgh...
Yeah, these script kiddie VB dudes are soooooo 133t...
I just hope they don't make any shitty games.

"Brother from another Mother" will mean something completely different.
and prop up Ponzi schemes (e.g. Social Security)
While Social Security has it's set of problems, it's wrong to call it a Ponzi scheme.

Also, because this thing has so much RAM, you can bump the number of supported TCP connections way past the dd wrt default limit of 4096. See http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=65396&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0
I'd give you mod points if I had any. I don't want to buy an 360 just to play Fable II.
What's the difference? You're their all-time best seller!
Very well put. Mod parent up.

Well, back in the day, movies used to be reel.
The AMD camp, insistent that clock speed doesn't matter, have annouced plans to release the highly anticipated Athlon 500000+.

I for one, welcome our new ocean overlords...
Although I agree with you, you can't overlook the fact that you need more expensive system parts to successfully overclock (e.g. motherboard, RAM).
Those more expensive costs eat into your processor savings.
I need an article to tell me to buy a phone when my current one gets run over by a bus? Seriously, is there anyone reading this thinking,
You know, this guy is right! I *should* buy a new phone because my current one is in pieces under a bus.
I upgrade because I have no self-control, and because Best Buy is the Devil.
I agree. According to this, this guy is a college drop-out.
There needs to be a new rule in society: If you can't graduate from college these days, you're not allowed to suggest scientific theories.
I think they have an NES Web Server...
Apparently Don King is parading around Slashdot under an "Unknown Poltroon" alias.
Was anyone else disturbed by the first photo?
I felt like some pseudo-asian Obe Wan was staring at me saying, "These aren't the copyright lawsuits you're looking for."

Hmmmm. Links dead. Assuming that's his server, too, I think he ripped out more than just some trivial fans and motors...
they're never going to escape the lab unless they do something not otherwise available in a more economical package.
Wake up, dude. That statement applies to all forms of new technology. Give it time.
Slashdot should have a POST-OF-THE-YEAR Award for all the different categories--well, at least for Funny.
And this post would win hands down.
