Under track conditions (with one of those jackasses pushing the pedal to the floor), yeah, the mileage on the Tesla is probably going to be atrocious.
As for the rest, not sure who exactly takes Top Gear seriously. It's a fun show, but I don't really look at it for good car facts. Nor should anyone else.
Believe me, as a car manufacturer, you should take the impact of Top Gear seriously, very seriously... Considering the mileage: The Roadster looks like a sportscar... that's not what I would call a car that invites to economic driving... to the contrary... Ah well... it's an US company, why look at your own problems if there's a possibility of suing someone else...
You can get 20Mbps ADSL2 (unlimited) for somewhere around €20 in the Netherlands, cable goes for a minimum of something like €50 (including (digital) TV and telephone, internet speed will be somewhere in the same region in that case) so the problem is still (partially) the ISP.
It's always the same with the US, they think they're way ahead but in reality they're lagging ages behind;-) Within half a year I'll have the possibility of a 100/100 Mbit/s connection (actually I picked the 50/50 solution, don't need more at the moment). Within a year it will be possible to get a 200/200 connection. All unlimited... And the Netherlands are not even leading the bandwidth race...
In my opinion I can't see why consumers need higher speeds than this, I never reach the max speed because the sending end doesn't, exept using usenet.
Luckily not everyone is as shortsighted as you are...
And when using usenet my single SATA drive can hardly keep up.
Check your hardware, copying files from my home server goes with a speed that's at least 500 Mbit... Let me guess your internal network is only 100Mbit...
I think the fast speeds being offered now by the cable ISPs here is to proof to our government they don't need to invest in fiber networks and let the market take care of itself
What fast speeds. 10Mbit up is NOT enough... maybe for the coming 1 or 2 years but after that it's probably no longer enough.... and that 10Mbit up I only get when I take the most expensive subscription. I want a symmetric connection. CAI Harderwijk is just a small provider with probably a relatively new network. UPC and Ziggo all have networks that are largely more than 20 years old with all the age problems included. Theoretically they will be able to do the same, practically not... In the neighbourhood where I live, there will be fiber next year and I predict a marginalization for UPC in the coming years around here...They just won't be able to keep up...
A country that now allows city mayors to issue search warrants without aproval from a judge and even without any prior suspicion of criminal activity. A country that is slowly making sure that we are never anonymous anywhere.
Nonsense, in the Netherlands a search warrent is not issued by the city mayor...
A country that is slowly making sure that we are never anonymous anywhere.
As is every other country in the world if it's citizens have any freedom left...
That's not the main cause. In the early days, whey you heard a song you liked, you had to buy the album (if it wasn't released as a single). Now, if you hear a song you like, you buy that track on iTunes and ignore the rest of the album... I guess you all can do the accounting yourselves...
There is a small problem with the French regarding the Tour: They're not thrustworthy in their judgement. If Floyd Landis had been named Richard Virenque the tests would probably have mysteriously disappeared. I'm not saying that he didn't cheat, but the French are very often using double standards regarding cycling... I guess it has something to do with Armstrong winning the tour 7 times in a row which their own heroes Anquetil and Hinault never could...
I'm not sure where you're living but here the average car does a bit more on a tank of gas... 700 to 800 is more realistic around here.... I wouldn't even buy a car which only does 500km on 1 tank of gas...
Not to burst your bubble, but here in the Netherlands there are AFAIK no providers with limits. I think that for the most you can scrap Europe from your list (well except for Belgium)...
Those two are the same one as far as I know. There's a 10% transfer tax on the purchase of a house, and it's usually paid by the buyer and funded by the mortgage.
Add to that... about 70% extra excise on petrol, extra excise on liquor, sigarettes etc, and several other articles... If you sell your house you have to pay, if you buy a house you have to pay... if you buy a new car you have to pay (on top of the tax)... And probably there are some more taxes I just missed...
They're not dug by slave labour. Most of the canals are way older than the 17th century... They're from the time we were still part of the Spanish empire.
Yet now we have the communistic handwringers who believe that copyright is a god-given right to have a stranglehold on your creations, of any kind, and profit from it no matter what.
I must say that that sounds more like capitalist behaviour than communist behaviour...
And that's why all the toys these days are coming from China... where there's allmost no quality control etc... because they want these toys the cheap way...
Gas prices in the US will drop, the problem is we have a gas pricing bubble. Just dream on... maybe they will drop a little but it won't be much and right after that there will be a rise again...
Something needs to happen to break this bubble and until the US government decides to allow new drilling in thier country people are just going to keep speculating and the price will increase. Sure, they can drill for water... but that won't have any influence on the price of oil...

Believe me, prices won't drop and if they drop it will be just very temporary. In 2002 the Netherlands (and some more) switched to the Euro. 1 liter of Euro95 at that moment costed us about 1 Euro. At this moment the price is round 1.6 Euro. In the last year prices went up with about 15 cents and they're expected to rise another 30 to 40 cents this year. And yes, you're reading it right. In the Netherlands a gallon of Euro95 would cost you 6 Euro, that's allmost $10 a gallon...
Heston spent many years pointing out that people who fear the gun are too chickenshit to admit that it's really other people they fear. So if you (as a pro-gun person) don't fear other people, then why do you need a gun...
Maybe you should consider to change the target to which you're catering... It seems to me that almost nobody wants the crap you sell... Allmost all the CD's I buy nowadays I buy online because I can't find them in the regular stores. And most of the stuff they release these days I won't even consider buying. It's all the same commercial crap...
This may or may not be an uphill battle for them.

That took you a long time to come to that conclusion...
I'm sure the CoS will explain why their detractors are "like Nazis" oppressing religious freedom, their speech thus outlawed - enjoy that hurdle.
Except that the CoS is considered not to be a religion in Germany.
