Although these tactics could be seen as immoral and lame, it doesn't look like they're actually breaking any laws. From the article, "Actually, T-Mobile's monthly charge of 86 cents is among the more clearly labeled.". As well, "though thankfully there's at least a footnote below owning up to the fees as Nextel's doing."
Like EULAs, they are taking advantage of the fact that nobody reads them.
I think they do, but I couldn't find anything with Google. I do know from this however that the PowerPC controls the walking mechanism in Honda's Asmino, so I wouldn't be surprised if it was in their cars as well. I remember some silly rumor a few years ago that OS X was going to power the current Accords. I think it stemmed from that.
I called, heard the phone pick up, "Reservations". So I said "I need reservations", and she hung up on me. Then I called back again and they picked up with no response. I said "Hello?", and they hung up.
So then I called and said "You're gonna die bitch". And then heard a bunch of women laughing.
Is my only weapon having a bunch of friends call this 800 number to make the company's overseas toll-free phone bill unbearable?
That's really not such a bad idea. Being that they're in an other country and illegally spamming, you can assume they aren't going to attempt to prosecute somebody that they themselves have illegally wronged.
Get a free VoIP service like Free World Dialup or something that lets you make 800 calls over the Internet. With most of them the caller ID shows up as random numbers across the US that they use to dial out. Then fax them tons and tons and tons of junk (read: goatse's) faxes through that.
Or you could just automate your VoIP program to call them every 30 seconds. Rack up the bills and annoy the hell out of them. Didn't Scott Richer get really pissed off when everybody submitted his email address to zillions of email lists?
I've worked for marketing companies that created similar promotions for their clients. Promotions like this are created with the full knowledge that the vast majority of winning caps will be tossed. 5% is actually a pretty strong number considering the L.A. Lakers caps they had in L.A. were only redeemed at a rate of 1.2 % (You got $10 off at Foot Locker)
Have you noticed that 90% of the time McDonalds announces "We're giving away a million dollars!" that you never hear about anybody winning the prize?
I think Yahoo uses Inktomi's search technology. Whether it was good or not, it earned that guy a lot of money. I saw his BMW Z8 in Berkeley once, with the license plate INKTOMI.
There are 9 9Gdrives between the two machines...The left box has 3 9G drives, and there are 6 4G drives on the right...This IBMdisk expansion box has another 8 9G drives...This is our homemade disk box which contains 10 9G SCSI drives
294 GB? That's a pretty damn nice mostly donated setup for 1997. This was '97 right?
Countries like China have local regions which don't speak either Mandarin or Cantonese, yet these are most likely the only 2 Chinese languages that Microsoft localizes their products for.
Was that SuperBowl commercial right after the burst where they showed a wrecking ball destroying buildings for.com's that were clearly really stupid ideas.

Then it wasn't being hit as hard it should have been anyways. A smart operation is going to put out every bit of that pipe they're pating for.

I just called and it hung up as soon as it answered.
Congratulations, in 5 minutes they're already Slashdotted beyong annoyance!

Didn't the creator of the Melissa virus get his sentence removed in exchange for helping the government with security stuff?
If so, the same thing could happen to this guy with the German government.
I have a NeoGeo pocket I got from my brother. I only have one game (some Sonic game), and know nobody else who owns one.
;)
This is of course why I keep it
With OS-X being basically BSD, Their wouldn't be much work to do so.
Actually, porting iTunes to Linux or BSD would be a horrific experience, as iTunes written in Carbon (Porting that to Linux would be a nightmare).
Except the biggest thing holding Linux back is that it's not easy enough for the average user that isn't particularly computer literate.
Linux needs to be easier to setup, be easier to use, and have less trouble with various devices (e.g. audio).

It seems it was started as a project at Stanford, and took off from there, here's a link to an archive of the old site.

"Here comes the lions, only in Kenya. Only in Kenya, we've got lions."
Actually, I think its "Where can you see lions, only in Kenya"
Kenya Believe It?
The first sentence:
"The vast majority of bactera on Earth are harmless."
13,230 million light-years away
So 13.23 billion light years.
