Hahahah. speaking as a member of a fansub group that fansubs at least three licensed animes I can safely say you're wrong. And I don't mean people just doing dvd rips of US dvds, I mean using the Japanese dvd as source and fansubbing that even when it's licensed in the us.

The top story was an article about how to make your own world-population-destroying-virus using a fish tank full of squirrel urine, and the editor had put some snide comment about "Why use squirrel piss when you can make your own terror virus using a tank of ordinary thirstful water?" and I was thinking "No fucking way is thirstful a word".
There were no comments on the story and I was going to first post something like: -- "Why use squirrel piss when you can make your own terror virus using a tank of ordinary thirstful water?"
Because you must labour long and hard collecting the piss from squirrels while you think of the faces of your enemies... --
Now is that sad or what? Note, this is not some bizarre, fucked-up troll post, I really did just have this dream, and was sad enough to post it to slashdot. (Did I really just check to see if the top story was about a terror virus??? How insane am I?????).
P.S. the 2nd story was something about the mouse driver in X and how you shouldn't recode it for every application, but have only one mouse driver (!) and I was going to make some humerous post about "without a mouse driver, how is anyone these days going to be able to shut down their computer?". Well, it was funnier when I was asleep.
How anyone can work is totally beyond me. It's much better to be unemployed and scab money to live off the state. Yes, this will annoy the fuck out of people who work hard and pay their taxes so I can not work, but that's their problem. They have the same option I do. You don't get much money on the dole (UK), but it's enough to live on.
Time, to me is far more precious than money or anything you can buy with money. I'm not going to prostitute myself just so I can buy a few shiny gadgets. 8 hours plus a day, doing something someone else tells me to? I don't fucking think so!
I'm sorry. I finally realized what was going on, and that the linked to thing was by esr, so it was all about 'oh dear, esr is rascist', but the post taken at face value doesn't make this clear, and resembles too closely a lot of the rascist crap that is on slashdot.
I suppose you might say that the user interface of the post was confusing... (Last ditch attempt to regain karma, both in the religious sense and the important sense).

I'm guessing from your post history that you meant to post this AC, which I actually find even more disturbing. The fact that someone can appear on the surface as "insightful", "informative" and "funny" and yet hold opinions such as this that they wish to make DISGUSTS ME.
God, I hate this. Yes, X could do with replacing because it's very old and crufty, but I hate the fact that a major factor in people wanting to change is the X license change.
It's the GPL that should be changed, not the X license, but very few people are brave enough to admit it, because they don't want to distance themselves from their open source friends.
The problem is that I can't say anything, make any jokes etc. without the risk of being redundant. Not even sad old me has time to read all those comments.
I mean, f'God's sake, even people who browse at +5 have to read more than one page! (And I read at -1).
