One important thing to keep in mind about Baccarat is that the tables usually have VERY LARGE minimum bets. The house hopes that you will quit while you are down.
However, I have seen nothing about players that give you the freedom to navigate through the disk the way you want to, instead of how the content producer wants you to
Are you the same person that will then complain that the "bonus content" sucks because it doesn't make sense?
Jeeezus, you don't go out and watch movie scenes in a different order because THAT's the way the director wants you to. Unless you are watching Memento, that is.
Has anyone asked the question, are the box office draws inflation adjusted?
My guess would be they are not, because movie studios are desperate to create enough hype to get people into the theatres before word of mouth kills the flick.
What would be interesting would be to see NUMBER of ticket sales, not total dollar amounts. The price of movies is more than double what it was 15 years ago, so it looks like more than twice the number of people are seeing movies now.
I can say that in 1985, when I paid $4.00 to see The Empire Strikes Back, there was alot more interest in the Star Wars franchise than there is now. But the movie studios want you to think the opposite.
In 1993 I got so sick of all those web sites using image maps and pictures so I disable graphics on my web browser. I can't hardly navigate most sites and ones like MapQuest make no sense ot me whatsoever, but my experience is much faster.
And then in 1995, I got so sick of all those web sites using cookies so I turned those off, too. Can't buy anything and I have to log in to every web site every day, but I feel safe now.
And then in 2001, I got so sick of all those web sites using text that I turned that off. I can't read anything anymore but I feel much safer and happier now.
More entrenched? You mean 98% penetration rate for Flash players is not entrenched enough? That's a higher percentage than Microsoft has in the desktop market...

From a technological standpoint, the only thing you can really say he has helped (and I say helped because he certainly cannot claim sole credit) achieve is the positioning of computers in everyday non-geek life.
Actually, what you are saying goes against recent studies.
For example, take a comparison of "Sesame Street" and "Blues Clues". The former has lots of witty dialog and adult humour (at least it did originally) in addition to the simple morality tales and vignettes that teach counting numbers. The latter has none of that but repetition and cute and cuddly animals.
Which do you think is better for children? Your argument would seem to indicate you think Sesame Street is the better show. However, recent studies suggest that it is not. Kids don't appreciate the humour and end up getting confused or bored by what you consider to be sly in-jokes. Parents make the mistake of thinking that their children on some level will learn to appreciate these bits. They don't. Children don't learn that way. The sooner you learn this the better.
For an explanation of studies read the book "The Tipping Point".
IBM is the single largest patent holder in the US, and 99% of their patents are held for defensive reasons. They could probably sue every tech company in this country based the patents that they hold, but they do not.
Why not? Because it would engender ill will and the patents they hold give them leverage in deal making.
So IBM tries to patent everything they ever thinkn of, trivial or not, so that other (less profitable, innovated and ethical) companies can't sue them.
I was the latter type of engineer... and was fired for sexual harassment.
Personally, I'm waiting for Dr. Arroway's camera in the movie Contact
Oh, yeah, that worked really well, too. 8 hours of static.
I can't decide if that's more annoying than my sister and father
d00d, of course your sister and father are more annoying.... you can BANG your sister in law.
Plus, the "Map guide to the stars' homes" doesn't wash away with rainfall.
That's no moon.... it's a trojan asteroid.
No such thing as a freedom to tinker. I was arrested for trying to tinker in an alley a few weeks ago.

What happens if you leave your laptop outside in the winter?
Same thing that always happens. Someone steals it.
This reminds me of the old days when you could use a pair of scissors or a hole-puncher to make single-sided 5 1/4 inch floppies into double-sided.
Or put a piece of tape over the hold to make them read-only.
Sigh.

Tyler Durden could replace the 1 second with a much more appropriate clip...
I discovered the only reason that it had been sitting on its perch in the first place was that it had been NAILED there.
Damn. When I read the headline, I was hoping it was about a self-heating toilet seat. You know, the can.
