We also started out with a Vic-20... my dad eventually built his own audio amp for inside the computer (the green-screen monitor didn't have any audio), and made his own RAM expansion, and added the 40/80 column cart. Was an ass-kickin' system by the time we jumped over to the C128 in 85.
I still have a huge collection of Commodore stuff... Vic 20's, a 16, couple Plus/4's, two SX-64's, several 128's, two 128D's, a ton of 64's and 64c's, Amiga 3000. And drives and printers... and a SuperCPU, Link-232, EZ-232, Swiftlink, Turbo-232, Ethernet Cartridge, CMD HD, CMD FD2000... the list goes on and on...
Serves him right for trying to ask a non-screened question of the socialist^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^Hsenator. You would have thought a fine, upstanding senator like him would love to hear what the youth would have to say.
Hey, if I had a private road, that was convienant for people to use, I'd want to be paid for people using it, to pay for upkeep, and the initial inventment of having the road built.
But oh, no... on slashdot any big business has to give away things for free, it's the socialist way.
The long term help for the entire country would be to fix the energy supply.
Need more oil wells. Yea, if there are more places actually producing oil, then each amount of downtime would impact all of us less. We'd be able to live better, not having to spend more and more of our income on fuel costs to drive to work, heat our homes, run our computers (power plants have to run on something, even if it's nuclear), and keep reasearchers powered working on other fuel methods.
Really, we need more refineries. They're not pretty, but having 6-12 more of them would really help smooth things out. Think of the extra effort that can go into maintenance now that they don't HAVE to run 24x7x365 days a year. Again, downtime at one refinery won't hurt prices of energy keeping those researchers looking for alternative energy sources. They can even work in the winter, because they'll be able to afford the heating bills.
Reduce the number of gasoline types in the country. Have one federal standard. That's all. Make everyone use it. Right now there are so many gasoline blends, that the fuel companies are struggling to produce them all. Find a compromise between all of them that is a mix of quality, and cost. Generally change the fuel in the long term to make it burn cleaner, and for our children's sake, put and end to MTBE.

Search for 6581 SID chips on ebay, go buy a couple, replace them. Simple. I have had a few SID's burn out, one was my fault, a pin got bent over while putting it in the socket, and I never noticed it.. it was making a good enough connection for a long time. It was the bottom of the two sid chips in my 128...(added a 2nd sid chip for stereo sound).
Seems to be a growing interest in the Commodore community. On irc.eskimo.com #c64friends channel, there's a bunch of people developing software and hardware for the C64 and 128. There's one guy even working entirely in the CP/M mode of the 128. Since I had to pack my 128 system up to move, I haven't done anything with it lately, but after the new computer room is setup in the house, I'll be back in full swing. 16MHz 65c02 processor, 16MB RAM, 2GB HDD... it's not your father's Commodore.
Yea, usually. But if you're buying a cheapass printer, just buy aftermarket ink or refill the carts that came with it. Obviously you're not looking for stellar output from a $25 device.
Ya know, I used to like Epson printers... I've had a Stylus Color 400, Photo 780, and 820. I still have the 780 and 820. The one issue I have is if the print heads clog beyond fixing (even using a syringe with special cleaning fluid), then you gotta junk the printer, can't just get a new printhead, like you can with the Canon's. I refuse to buy HP or Lexcrap printers.
Ya know, on the 17" LCD I have at work, I don't want to run at Native res... 1280x1024... I like 1024x768. I guess I don't need that high of resolution, things look just right to me. Plus the D600 I have only has an XGA LCD on it, and I hate my icons, and trillian windows not being in the exact same spot.
Scary thought, but tracking prisoners in, prison, is a good idea. I guess your comment reinfornces the need for me to never live in a city. I'll stick with small towns and such.
This is why 3-way calling would be ideal. Put both of them on the phone and let them fight it out with each other. I've actually done that with another company, i dont remember what companies I had on the phone, but I told them that it wasn't MY Problem, and that YOU two should sort it out, so get to it.
Or, he's just incapable of spinning a bunch of "big sounding" words out as well as other dumbass politicans. He's not a good public speaker. But, maybe good public speakers are only as smart as the words they're coached to speak.

Nice. This is why I'm glad I don't live anywhere near Europe. I'll put up with the Liberal and Communist parties currently in power here. I sure hope this post helps my Karma...
> Of course, it is a tragedy that Bush simply doesn't have the intellect to even understand anything he is signing therefore that should render any new laws null and void.
And this is why you're an anon coward. The problem is that Republicans are Democrats, Democrats are Socialists. It's a mad mad world.

Couple choices...
Stupid democrats.
Shakey fingers from all the "medicinal" pot.
Good point. When is the world going to make China come up to the pollution standards of the US?

Troll, eh? I suppose that proves all of my theories.
Hope they brought power to charge stuff with.

It's all Bush's fault!
It's all f'in flash. If it's not homestarrunner.com, it need not be flash.

What makes you think the legality of something will make politicians change their habits?
I figured most /.'ers would love a good fascist. Seems that liberals tend to migrate towards many of Hitlers ideas anyway.

I'm very intolerant of anyone who tried to stop me from legally transmitting on any radio frequency.

...but don't put the tower in my backyard. Bah, it's the same complaint people have for everything they want, but don't want to pay/give up for.
I guess Subaru's engineers contributed to this...

I suppose a Viper is a sorta quick car. (Just using that as an analogy to AMD's cheaper CPU's being fast, just in case people didn't get it.)
