I think what's more of an embarrassment is the fact that people can't figure out to punch a hole in a piece of paper next to a name.::Shrug:: Didn't we all take those multiple choice standardized tests in school? Hell, we even managed to use a #2 pencil.
That aside, NY (and NJ) have been using those neato flip-a-lever voting machines for as long as I can remember. And... uh... they work. Mechanical. No hidden code, no closed source, just gears, cogs, levers, linkage, stuff like that. Works for me. Count the number at the end of the day, give it to whoever gets it at the state/county level.
Keep it simple, manual labor isn't a bad idea for elections. Yea, it may take longer, but at least 99% of people know how to count, compared to the few that can understand code.
Directions to get Bin Laden: Level one (1) terrorist-friendly city per week until they all decide that mass destruction isn't worth harboring that guy any longer. Shouldn't take more than a month or two to get him.
Just like europe made the "obvious choice" in letting some little guy try to take over the world ealier in the previous centry. Good thing some countries with common sense and saved your asses. You might have the "German Union" instead of the "European Union".

Maybe so... but it didn't give Hitler more power back in the 40's. Playing the horrid acts that these "people" commit are crucial in reminding everyone who we're dealing with. Trying to put a "human" face on people who will slowly cut someone's head off "just because" is rediculous. I say show them more often, and show more detail. Make sure EVERYONE realizes that those people committing those acts need to be dragged through the streets by their wrists... Preferrably some small town with unpaved roads... or, any of the 5 Boro's of NYC... pleanty of potholes.
...most of europe is left-wing anyway. Don't need the unnecessary traffic wasting server time and bandwidth just to send data to people who are gonna do nothing but bash whatever the site says.
Jesus Christ on a crutch. I do NOT want any kinda MS software in a vehicle that HAS to get me places. Do you know how long you can drive before HAVING to shut off your engine?!?! Just for maintanence, you can keep it running while refilling the tank. I don't want to have to worry about memory leaks, piss poor code, etc.
I can see it now... Linux made illegal because it's being used to circumvent copy protection controls in Windows. Sheesh, I'm sure some lawyer will put those together sooner or later. Good thing nobody ever reads this.
It most likely isn't the different voltages, since every Socket A MB I've seen lets you use a WIDE variety of voltages. The issue would be the FSB (front side bus) and multiplier limitations. I have an older Shuttle board with the KT-266A chipset, and the XP1700 OC'ed to an XP2000 is as fast as that board will let me go. I'll have to do CPU/MB/Cooling/RAM when I upgrade.
Freakin' Drudge had these guys on his radio show about a week ago. Uh... I would have submitted it, but hey, I though even THAT was too old for slashdot, guess not. Mod down please.
As people use more and more computer equipment, it is inevitable that nature makes us allergic to it. Personally, I love the smell of a new motherboard, new car, new truck, burnt-on-muddy-truck. But anyhoo... I suppose you should just de-evolve and try to be less sensitive. Maybe sensitivity training would be in order?
And, on the flip side of the same idea... Let Kerry flip and flop about his War service, and get caught in a bunch of lies, and he'll just dig a deeper hole for himself.
...like the water in the lakes is now warming up due to the use as a coolant. Millions of fish will be 1.4 degrees warmer now that it's being used to cool those pesky human habitats.
Do I hear anyone screaming "Global Lake Warming"? I'm sure we will soon.

201 area code? Northern NJ... Lovely, another NJ lawyer in it for the cash. Goddamnit I hate NJ (the imported residents and the gov't), even though I was born and raised there.
Still,/. does pretty well overall, considering there's no paper version (or TV channel) for non-computer users to read... Whoa, a revelation... Move over G32432423432TechTV, time for SlashdoTV. Nah, it'd never fly. Kinda like Yahoo magazine.

But you'll never see the version that you just mentioned of in the national evening news.

Now they can prove/disprove our trip to the moon, just point them at the moon, and look for the lunar rover, landing pad, etc.

I would just oc the current cpu and live with it until you can afford a compleat upgrade (cpu,mb,ram, vid).
Thanks to Fender Tucker for the elogant spelling of "compleat".

Yay, a story about something everybody already knows about. Yee. Hoo.
Anyhoo.

Maybe I am... who knows. Never used a DEC system myself, tho.
Too late.

Damnit, I submitted this same article last week, I guess it wasn't old enough news. Same link, different submitter.
Ohwell, mod this down appropriately. I'll stop trying to contribute.
...could you live with a power cord sticking out of your stomach to recharge the thing? Heh. Interesting.
Oh, screw that... found something better... I think we all have a standard phone we can use, right?
