Thomas Jefferson had allot of foresight but was not listened too early on by the other constituitional ratifiers. He feared Extended copyright and protected monoploies. Keep in mind, NASA engineers knew this was a major issue. They were only doing what they could to postpone the inevitable. If it wasn't for the brilliance and dedication of the NASA folks, this article from 23 years ago article would have been correct on the first launch in 1981. It has been long due that these shuttles were to be replaced. Like the article says. It was suppossed to only last 10 years. Budjets were cut in it's design and Budjet's were cut again during the span of it's existance. This machine was not designed to run on a small budget. It was built to save money in it's contruction not in it's upkeep.
Taxation on the intenet is a farse. The public at large barely has any protection or representation on the internet. All the interests currently serve coporations not the general public. Identity theft, Fraud, Scams, and Spam, run rampant with no checks, Security is still a problem, yet we are now to be taxed. The 'Fat Cats' as salivating over this like it's the last live stock animal in the village during a cold winter.
Now we are to be taxed for the priviledge of getting hi-jacked without recourse. I see the digital tea party. Where the masses dump their cable modems into the Bostom Harbor in mass protest. Sheesh! (yeah that'll happen)
I can't wait untill air and water is taxed. That's comming soon.
I don't know about this vibrating floor thing. I didn't ever work out to
hot form my Electric
Football game I had when I was younger. The vibrating floor seem
to make them all run ut of bounds and fall over all the time. The fact
that the same technique works on Seniors is really mind boggling.
I lived in Panama for over 5 years. 92-97. I can tell you the Cable & Wireless had little to do with the POTS till just recently. See, The way things work there is that all the polititions are bought and payed for just like you buying a new car. Favors are exchanged so freely that corruption is part of the culture.
You where charged for all outside your immediate vicinity. All local calls where free of charge and still are.
The proble lies When you place call outside the country. You could not use a long distance carrier. You had to pay the local telco rate wich was state ran. Near $1.55 per minute to call the US. Calling card Companies started to throw in local access numbers for each of the cities and sell calling cards for much less than half that rate. But the Local Telco go wind if this in started shutting down those numbers. All with the support of the Local polititions of course, When internet access started getting cheaper around 1994 I turned allot of Panamaians onto Net2Phone.com (aka IDT) They would allow 800 numbers to be called freely over the internet at that time. So all you needed was a 56k dialup and any calling card and voila local US rates form Panama. Cable & Wireless actually imporoved things a little. Most people stopped using POTS when BellSouth moved in hard with Digital PCS Phones. It's cheaper to call long distance on the cell than on the POTS. Now, No one even barely uses thier POTS in that country ecpect for local calling and faxes. I dought that this all really has any affect on POTS strangle hold for long. AT&T is moving into the area now and will offer GSM services for the first time. I was in Panama just this past March. Let me tell you. PCS phones are just as cheap if not cheaper than in the US.
I agree with most peoples thoughts. This will be circumvented pretty easily.

Any type of encryption method worth it's salt would do the job. The
main point is missed. Companies have the right to monitor thier communications..
It's a survival instinct. Key sniffers could be used to defeat any
encrytion tactic. If ou speak on the phone, type an email, chat, or
verbaly gossip you can be monitored at a companies discrestion. Not
all companies will do this, just the ones that believe it's justified. Justified
like a stock trading company, or a manufacturer of secret US Military Weapons,
or even the bread baker who doesn't want you revealing his recipes to his
competition. It's their choice not yours, that is, if you want to continue
to get paid. If you use company bandwitdth and company computers then
you have no right to privacy and never will. Bring in your own PC and
use your own bandwidth if you want to deal in espianage, cover ups, or finding
a date. With that being said. You can play the cat and mouse
game at your own risk. Sometimes the mouse will win but the cat is
very patient. I am a very big privacy advocate but only when I am paying

snoop.

Putting shredder or DOS type software in other sympethetic coutries networks.

do agree,'The cat is out of the bag'. We all knew this
moment was going to come, when the government had an excuse to push for a
backdoor for Crypto. The underlying technology for crypto is available
worldwide. Once back doors are in place there will be many new schemes
created to replace it. This is similar in effect to all the computer
virus out in the wild right now. Algorithms will mutate much faster
than they can ever be decrypted. This attempt is futile as far as finding
and tracking terrorist or criminal activity.
This a time when head-on technology will only hinder our efforts to break
up these terrorist networks. I am a person who believes strongly
in the possibilities technology can provide but in this case nothing I believe
nothing but 'Old-fashioned footwork will be effective. It will be attacked
at the weakest point, the Human being. Electronic Emissions detection

and in many forms of hardware will be implemented in total secret.
If Microsoft wants to get out of hot water it will cave in to any government

I also have a protest idea for the Washington DC crew.
It seems Laura Bush is attending a

Hmm, let me see here!
1. A Country full of highly skilled and experienced programmers.
2. IT Schools pumping out masses of new programmers into the work force like a cigarette factory.
3. A flood of H-1B programmers pouring into the US willing to work for much lower wages.
No real IT shortage.
The only people I see making a decent living are IT recruiters for H1-B applicants, Instructors for overpriced IT Schools, Project managers, and of course Mega Corps getting dirt cheap labor.
Now the Gov/Corps are wondering why there are so many Peer-Sharing, Virus, and cracking application infiltrating the profit taking world.
Too many pissed off and bored programmers!
Maybe if Shawn Fanning would have had a Real job waiting for him, Napter would maybe have never existed.
Just a thought.
I have been following the progress of Carter Copters prototype tests for
over 4 years.
Out of all the newer type aircraft I have looked at, I believe this one has
the best chance of success.
They?re many safety features
inherent in gyro craft that can?t compete with conventional prop or rotor
aircraft.
1. A Gyro craft?s rotor blades are never loaded. The blades are in a state
of constant
autorotation
. Carter Copter's blades are only loaded on take off, which means that if
there were a complete engine failure the aircraft can safley land from an
any speed or altitude. Helicopter blades have to be unloaded in order to
auto rotate. If they are at higher altitude they have a better chance of
survival. Most helicopter accidents occur at low speeds low altitudes. The
Pilot does not have enough time to unload the blades in the event of an emergency..
2. If the rotor blades fail, the craft can still glide and fly like a
conventional aircraft to make a proper airfield landing.
3. If the rotors and wings fail then there is a ballistic parachute to
save the cabin.
Gyros have been around for many years. Craft are inherently stable flyers.
The reason they where never developed and interest was lost was due to the
fact that you can?t get them to fly very fast. That was until this aircraft
design came about.
Some of the specs
on this aircraft
are amazing!
You can take 5 passengers coast to coast on 120 gallons of fuel at over 400mph
at 50,000 feet and take off and land from your back yard. Easy maintenance
and low cost of manufacture are very attractive to me.
There are
videos
of this plane in action so it's not vaporware. One thing I also like is
how honest they are on all the
accidents
they have.
I'm going to Disney from my own backyard thank you.
Right on Hemos!
It was the sheer stupidity of the worm's creator and the skill of some network
admins which limited the worms attack and DoS potential.
Let's reverse engineer this sucker and get this thing working better
next time!
Okay NSA,. you should hire better Worm Coders next time if you want
to frame the Chinese.
I blame Canada and the bitch Anne Murray too!
