I live in Canada and I use Bell Mobility. When they told me I had to pay for incoming SMS, I told them to turn off the capability. Then they told me they couldn't do that, so I told them to figure out a way because I wasn't paying for incoming SMS. To my surprise, they weren't completely devoid of logic and agreed.
No kidding! It's gotten to the point that there are no penalties for stupidity anymore. In fact, the stupid are coddled. They don't fail kids anymore, for fear of lowering their self esteem. What's worse are the wilfully ignorant - people don't know and don't want to know. Just as one example, no one seems to think spelling and grammar are important anymore. I'm sure my grammar isn't perfect (I have no idea what a dangled participle is,) but at least I do have a habit of making sense.
...not that slashdot is the ideal place to gripe about spelling. ;)
Pretty much, except if you say "Centigrade" instead of "Celsius" over here, most folks will look at you like you're purple....and we don't say "boffin". I couldn't even guess what that is.

I work for a major computer manufacturer, in technical support. We have never called them laptops for the 2 years I've been here. They're not to be used on your lap, your bed, or anything that isn't a flat surface. All of our current models have vents in the bottom and feet that keep the unit raised up enough for airflow under it. So aside from burning a user or damaging his sperm, the notebook itself will suffer more heat than it should if used improperly.
OK fair enough. I'm not the guy that's saying your extensions won't work, or trying to justify it. I was just letting everyone know that adblock does, since it's probably the most popular one. If you have other extensions you require, then by all means hold off.
Wally World? We used to have a Wally World here (London, ON, CA) - it was a water park. It had water slides, a wave pool, go-karts, etc. Of course, then there was the National Lampoon movie. So Wally World is a store in the US? I thought I'd heard of them all. Oh, and they tore down Wally World here to build a new Wal-Mart - I'm not kidding.
Why the hell didn't the EFF bring in videotape showing someone trying to return WC3 because he didn't agree with the EULA? That should have ended that "contract" bullshit right there, unless the judge is bought.
Anyone in Ontario got a video camera? I'll totally go buy Warcraft III and then attempt to return it opened. I think it'd be damned interesting to see what they do with a camera in their face.
CNN's results would be skewed slightly in favour of Americans. I wonder if pr0n sites would be more neutral?.... Nah, skewed towards guys. Forget it - we can't win.
Ya know, I've actually never seen Bonzi Buddy. I was debating on downloading it on a vmware virtual machine the other day just to see this horrible thing I hear about. Laziness won the day, however.;-)
I can't believe the American legal system allows for this kind of crybaby crap. So someone called you a name - big deal! Who cares? Suck it up bitch! That's our attitude here in Canada.
I like the new NB recovery system. It allows the user to reinstall *just* application X, or to just run a Windows install without formatting (for those folks that absolutely *can't* lose their pr0n^H^H^H^Hmission critical data)

You've had bad luck... less than 2% ever call support at all, and even less require service. I guess that probably doesn't make you feel any better.... nm.
because there's nothing more satisfying than pointing out the shortcomings of others
Randal?

Homer: Can you swing a sack of doorknobs?
Jimbo: Can I!
Homer: OK, You're in.
Moe: But ya gotta supply your own knobs!
Plus, is Google maps USA only? Not even Canada?
I'm in Canada and I just zoomed right in on my street.
I believe the same thing is happening in Canada.

This will probably considered a troll also, but I think the obvious answer is porn.
It's called "The Incorporated States of America" or the ISA. ...and you call yourselves nerds.
Geez, didn't anyone else play Cyberpunk?
Guess laptops should get a namechange soon

I'm using it with adblock. What else do you need?
I used to use the single window extension but RC1 has those options built in so I no longer need it.
Ah, I see.... though I prefer to call McDonald's "Rotten Ronnie's"

Maybe slightly more than three seconds but just as painless...
...except with Windows Update, you'd have to reboot the machine and not just restart the browser.

seriously.
I had that happen under vmware and I had thought it was a because of vmware.
After reinstalling windows and then SP2 again, it worked.
