The springboard was also my main reason for buying the handspring, but also the cool colour choice. Howerver in Vancouver BC there was only the mp3 player available, I was hoping for a compatable visorphone, but there was none for Canada. Mabey now is the time to get a good price an upgrade model before they are discontinued.
Forth is a meta language. You can use it to build another language of sorts, thus I am fairly shure that postscript was written in forth, or an extension of forth if you will. That is the joy of programming in forth you can build a new dictonary of words for the end user, the top word being a program. It is really difficult to hide the rpn aspect though.
For myself I would like to get news on my palm compatable. Could be done through the hotsync line, then you could read at your leasure. But most desireable would be a wirless connection to a server, you could get instant updates, from one of the news services like reuters.
Much safer and easier to fly than a chopper. You shouldn't need one too big to lift 4 people. Mid air collision with another deribible would probable just bounce. Wind would be a restriction I suppose, but with good streamlining and powerful motors should work well enough.
The user interface for Motorola is probably the worst, but thier reliability is legendary. The old classic brick phone cold be used as a weapon and still function normaly. My Iden phone has been funtioning for two years. Recently it bailed out from my motorcycle at 50 mph, I recovered it minus the flippy lid so I use it hands free mode. Then there was the beer test. I bought a 6 pack, which I placed in my carry bag with the phone in, got home, handles where overloaded and broke, bag hit the ground. I started the barbeque got out the food, went for a beer from the bag, one had broken flooding the compartment the phone was in, the unit was energized at the time. The phone was dead on arrival, but I rinsed it with cold water, let it dry, then used it normaly the next day. I did have to replace the battery though. I think the Star Tac type phones are not in the same league however.
Model M forever. Just got one at a dime store. As soon as I hefted that thing I could tell it was somthing of quality. Reminds me of the old IBM Selectric I used to type reports on in tech school. Once, we were able to read the ribon tape after the instructor used it to type an exam. Methinks to go back and buy the lot of them just to have a supply, though I doubt this one will ever break.
The music biz needs new blood, If the big guys try to sell the same crap online as on CD it will fail. The MP3 P2P works because it offers the users choice instead of flavour of the month you get in the store. MP3 allows new artists to be heard that the execs would not give a second glance. Look at the 60's, do you think many of those artists like Frank Zappa would be heard today?
I agree. Most new stuff is just using sex on video to sell a packaged product, the music is secondary. Most stuff I hear is run through Pro Tools and has this processed synthetic sound. This is ok if you listen on a ghetto blaster you bought at Kmart but on hi fi it blows. Plus the music industry seems to chose people as packages to market, nice bellybutton, tits, you paste some loops and samples in, if they can't keep time you can change that with pro tools, speed up slow down change pitch ect. The good thing about napster and the like is no video, it's just the music again. Also I personaly don't buy CD any more because the chain stores that sell them don't have much selection and I get subjected to loud syntho droid muzak type crap over the speakers, this is everywhere, why can't I browse in peace. I walked out of 3 stores yesterday with my money in my pocket.
I have been there watching those alien printouts as well with Mandrake cups. But for me the biggest reason I am using XP now is Multimedia. I use my computer for mostly recreation and some small business use. Linux gets the work done, multiple desktops rock. However DVD, digital vcr, and telivision support for my All in Wonder is weak. If you notice the M$ marketing is pusshing multimedia. Multimedia is where Linux needs to improve to win the desktop at home. Also games of course, Wiz8, MaxPayne ect.
After installation of XP you must do some cleaning: Media Player, Player> Tools> Options>, tab Player uncheck "Allow internet sites to uniquely identify your player". Also uncheck Acquire licences automatically. Also Group Box Automatic Updates uncheck "Download codecs automatically". Open Explorer, then right click on "my Computer" select "Properties", tab Advanced> Click on "error reporting", uncheck all 3 items. Also Remote> uncheck all to disable control of your computer from internet. From Explorer get into Control Panel, Internet Options, Advanced, uncheck "Automatically check for Internet Explorer Updates". You may choose to double click the clock and select "Internet time" and uncheck "Automatically synchronize with an internet timeserver". Go to the Control Panel again, get into "Administration", "Services", find "Error reporting Service" and select "disableed" as the start type. Also, "Automatic Updates", disable (this one is important, I understand some updates caused malfunctions). You may also chose to disable "Windows Time". Select Start> Run> type "regsvr32/u licdll.dll". Also type "regsvr32/u regwizc.dll". XP hides some software you may wish to remove, use notepad to edit \windows\inf\sysoc.inf remove the word "hide" form those victims you wish to uninstall. Make shure ther are 2 commas instead you will see other lines with the same so you know it's correct. Thats it, XP has some of the usual M$ bullshit but it is hackable. And I must admit it is fast. Try booting Star Office with it. But it does not play well with others, Does anyone had success with multibooting Linux and XP, I believe it must be done with the NT loader, Lilo dosn't seem to work. Also Boot Magic fails to recognize it. I was using seperate Drives for each O.S.
Anyone that "likes ads" in any form is a sheep in man's clothing. And further, one thing that frosts my balls is when I pay good money to see a movie and they show ads b4 the feature. Talk about a captive audience, what are going to do? Walk out? Get a refund?
I played the origanal wizardries for many hours on apple ][ and am delighted with wiz 8, it is an order of magnatude better. Baldurs Gate SOA was the best till this one came along. You can start from scratch, but be prepared to run.
There's still dc.
I will still enjoy my 34c and 65 for many years.
They were more expensive than other calculators, but if you ever opened one up u would see, there is a lot of gold in there.
Anyone know where to get new batteries?

That super expesive stuff can be purchased used at very great savings. I shop the basement for tradeins or check bargain papers. Just got a Magnum Dynalab tuner for $500 cdn only used about a month cost $1,100 new. Got a set of Quad II for $200 cdn. I get great pleasure out of blowing the crap out of all those flashing light oriental type systmes with 1950 tube technology.Got my JBL speakers as demos 21 years ago for $1500 cdn. retail was $3000. Reconned twice and they still are sounding beter than any japanese system you buy new today. Got an Std turntable with Merc tonearm from a business partner not shure of the value. For a cd player I plan to get a Cambridge for about $700 cdn new. But I'm not to worried about cd anymore as they all got stolen and I never listened to them much since I got the tuner.
Scotsmen make the best turntables traditionaly. Brits and US make best electronics and speakers, but France and Canada have moved up very quickly.
You can put a very good system together for under $3000 cdn if you don't need flashing lights and remote controls.
This is the nail on the head. This is a huge topic, the lecture tape I have on it is about 4 hours long. I have a Core Conditioning and Scietific Back Training certificates from the CHEK Institute http://www.chekinstitute.com . Also I have had back pain myself for some time now. A good exercise program does work. Here it is in a nutshell, get a Swiss Ball, about $30.00 Sissel or Duraball are the best. You can use this to exercise, also you can sit on it when you work! It may look funny to some unenlightened people but sitting on a ball keeps your tiny spinal muscles active and pumping fluid in and out and keeps your nervous system associated with that active. You may get sore after about 2 hours of use, this is because your abdominals have been on vacation for some years. Sit up straight, disk pressures rise when you slouch. Back pain usualy is caused by weak or inactive Transversus Abdominis or TVA. Ths muscle supports your back by pulling on Thoracolumbar Fascia (your natural weight belt), inter-abdominal pressure (squeezing viscera), and inter-compartimental pressure (squeezing lumbar erectors). This muscle is activated by pulling your belly in and is most critcal when you bend over at 45 deg. Tummy vacums and most importantly the forward ball roll are best exercises. Kneeling with arms on the ball, you should see a box formed by your back arms and legs, as you roll forward on the ball keep your back neutral (don't let it tuck under), and pull your belly in as you load, keep neck neutral, don't allow your upper abdominals to fire as they often dominate the transverse which is exactly the problem you are trying to eliminate here. This exercise establishes the lost communication with the TVA and trains you to activate it under load. Hold for 10 relax for 3. When you sit or lay for long periods Tonic (postural) muscles will tighten. The psoas is one and it can pull your lower back quite a bit. You should stretch it. and also strenghten the lowwer abdominals you using pelvic tilting exercises. This is if you have a lot of lumbar curvature. If you can stand against the wall and your hand passes behing your midle back. If your back is flat, don't do lower abdominals. A lot of times you will get a forward head posture from sitting looking at a tube all day. Every inch your head goes forward it will add the weight of your skull to the neck and supporting muscles, usualy pain between the shoulders. rowing exercise helps, but paricularly the Prone Cobra. Lay on your stomach, or swiss ball, squeeze your butt lift your upper body as you squeeze your shoulders together and rotate your arms outward (supinate) thumbs pointing up, neck straight hold for 10 relax for 3. This is only general information but forward ball roll and Cobra excercise helped me a lot, neither will hurt you. Avoid full situps and leg raise as they target the psoas muscle, not the abdominals. Avoid the abdominal crunch machine, improper use will injure your Quadratus Lumborum muscle. And avoid the ab roll up device as it leads to imbalence between the neck and abdominal muscles. You can find good information from the CHEK site also found good stuff searching swiss ball. Try to get someone qualified to show you some of thees exercises.
I thought the Bakshi version was good. His style of animation really fit the story. It was disapointing how it just ended in the middle. I wish he would finish it with another release.

Using transparent speakers is a backward aproach. Better to use acousticly transparent projection screen, and place your choice of speakers behind it. This product is available now. Don't remember manufacture, but I believe that it showed up in Auido Visual Interiors issue that featured Fabio's system.

Here is one supply:

My model M has been working since 17 October 1988. I don't ever wash it, I prefer that experienced look.
