I have a quad II system with RCA 6L6 power (never could afford the KT66) but I have been rewarded often with the blue glow halo. You somtimes get a blue glow around the outside of the tube. It realy adds to the enjoyment when you listen at night and turn the lights out and you see a little blue aurora to go with the music. Never heard a good explanation for it. Next time it happens I should take some pictures.
I found the original Blood by Monolith funny. There was funny dialogue from Clint Eastwood movies thrown in. Also I rememeber entering the mortuary and he would say "open for business." Also when the zombie heads came off you could kick them like footballs. That was the first fps I played on the pc, I would love to see another game like that. Blood2 was not the same.
I had this happen to me. SP2 turned my AMD 64 into a slug. I did some looking around and it seems that Microsoft in thier infinite wisdom decided to upgrade your cpu driver in some cases. If you go into the hardware manager and roll back the cpu driver you should be ok. I don't think Microshaft groks AMD.
My biggest reason for switching is that IE seldom will increase the text size when commanded to. Mozzila always will increase the text size of a web page. I can't read the fine print on a lot of web sites.
Power is relative to the ear. No argument transitors will put out more measurable power. However for the same wattage the transitors sound louder. For example when I have people over I love to ask them how many watts they think they are hearing on my tube Quad IIs which are hidden in a cabinet. I think they are only about 15 actual but the vibrate your toes. Arugments for depth and spatial soundstage aside the tubes sound louder. You can only go so loud in your home anyhow b4 you injure yourself or have the cops at your door. If your goal is simply to annoy the entire block or others at a stop light ala Honda people then by all means transitors are louder. But keep in mind those Marshall http://www.marshallamps.com/images/home/home.html stacks that you heard Jimi Hendrix play where tubes and they were plenty loud.
I guess legality varies on your location. I live in British Columbia I had mine taken by police but they later returned it to me. At one point they where going to issue them to bus driveres with training but it did not happen. These sort of things are usualy leagal until a bad guy uses them in a movie and a bunch of people copy this behavior.
I think handguns invite trouble for several reasons including colatoral damage and noise as well as possible jail time I prefer one of these: http://www.selfdefenseproducts.com/asp.htm
I own an Indigo and Indigo II. I think SGI made the coolest computers. They look better than any custom PC I have seen. Plus I don't see much wrong with Irix. My dream would be to see a consumer Mips based machine in one of thier ultra cool boxes with Multimedia TV, DVD, Sound, then port a few Games and I would be happy. Mabey add a big screen TV. An alternative to Mac and PC.
For me to switch more toward my Unix style installation instead of XP I would like to see more multimedia. I see a trend toward using the PC as a multimedia entertainment centre. Hook up a projector and you have TV, PVR, timeshifing live TV, Radio Games, mail and Internet on a big screen. I don't see a whole lot of support for the All in Wonder Radeon in Linux or BSD. Also more games would be nice. Otherwise Linux would be a nice stable platform for a Multimedia PC. How about mabey a Multimedia Linux Version, hey Linus, pretty please.
I agree, both me and my younger brother played with Lego for years. Some of our games where building banister sliders that could take the hi gee 180 degree hairpin at the middle of the stairs. Also we sort of a war game where we made these structures which we suspended from strings and let swing so they bashed together the best battering ram victorious. We also did some instructional stuff but the wild stuff was more educational / fun, I think. Also an honorable mention to Mechano, we played that for years, automatic door closers, you name it.
This would be good. Better restaurants could present as a safe haven for a quiet meal. Put a notice on the door and important calls missed at your own risk. Or for a price you could check your phone, and someone will take a message and pass it to you discreetly. I wonder if you could use it to stop those boneheads I see weaving in and out of traffic with a coffee in one hand and cell phone against thier skull.
I have found this site (www.uhfmag.com/) to be quite informative on matters pertaining to audiofilia. The reviews are honest and unbiased. The articles help you to understand what makes good sound and how to glean fact from fiction. I have bought equipment based on thier recomendation and been very satisfied. You can also get components and somtimes audiofile recordings from thier store.
I live in Vancouver Canada so I am seeing this series for the first time. It airs on the Space Channel Monday 1800 pst. This is the best SF I have seen on tv for a long time. I would like to buy the series on DVD.
I think Imposter is well worth renting. I rented it not realising I had already seen it and it was worth watching a second time. I really like the statment at the end, "Did you know him," "I would like to think so" He replies. I will have to look for Screamers.
I have been having problems as well. If I post and try to view my post I get a blank screen. Also if I hit the back button I often get a blank. I am using Lynx at this moment now, beacause I am upgrading my bsd installation and don't have x up yet.
NWN was a huge disapointmen compared to SOA. I would have been more pleased with another expansion to SOA. Sure the graphics are nice but without a good story and character interaction that eye candy wears thin pretty quick. Besides that both Morrowind and Gothic are better looking. The characters in SOA like Jan and Minsk where great. Planescape also had good voice acting. I currently am playing Temple of Elemental Evil, it is more like the original Baldurs Gate, but lacking the voice acting. ToEE still has some bugs, like trashing my desktop but, it's more like the real D and D. I have no plans to play NWN thru.
I also have an Indigo but my clock battery died. I have also got a teal Indigo II but I don't think my Irix is complete, I am waiting for a good deal on a set of Irix Disks. I have been able to get up a mini root console but the disk versions I have are not compatable.
I also am typing this on a 1988 model M hooked to a Lian Li box with 2000 xp power. I still crave that IBM selectric type feel. I have a Memorex Trackball as well, which I use for gameing, not shure of the vintage, in tandom with a ps2 Cirque Smart Cat. They both work at the same time under XP, Bsd only uses the Cat.
I used Mandrake for years, multibooting with win98. Then I upgraded to XP and there was no way I could get the latest Mandrake to work with XP. I switched to FreeBsd and it worked with no sweat. Weeks of screwing around and lost data, I never looked back at Linux. Another thing, I had the cable guy over to install internet, he screwed around for about an hour or more with XP to get it working, actualy he pulled the plug on my Linksys router, so he actualy didn't. After he left I plugged the router back in hit reset, booted Bsd, ran sysinstall got broadband in about 5 minutes.
If the providers start to shut down more spaamers and outher wasters of bandwidth, this is a good thing.
Amen Brother.

Any Poll that omits Forbidden Planet is suspect. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0049223/

And why Xbox, can't the same thing be done with the PC that most people have already?

Don't they have pagers?
