    I played it on the C64. This game set the ground for turn-based strategy and sim games, and it is just incredible to learn that it never sold more than 30,000 copies. And yet, _everybody_ was playing it. Today's piracy 'problems' are nothing compared to that.

    If Dani Bunten were still alive I'm sure lots of people would be glad to donate quite some amount of money to make up for lost and long time overdue revenue.

    Well, setting aside that amount of money in order to reimburse the future victims of your 'revenge' would take some time, now wouldn't it? I don't know about you, but if that was some great French strategy I'd file it under 'epic fail'. ;)

    No wonder they can't win a war on their own behalf. Oops, there, I said it... On a more serious note: if subtlety would win wars the world would be quite different from what it is.

    So you are reporting, yet fail to provide a link, or a proper citation. What now, bad Panda _and_ bad journalism? Besides, if you are 'involved' in cases like that, you should learn how to properly spell 'copyright', should you desire to be taken seriously. Just my two cents.

    The point is to buy both, doing one thing doesn't mean you should neglect the other. You stock up on food and toilet paper for the chaotic times ahead, and you hide some gold in the ground to be dug out in better times, when everyone else starts from scratch with 100 New Dollars (or whatever the name). Just don't forget to leave a note for your kids where you buried it...

    That crap food is not all that cheap at all when you consume tons of it each month. The Japanese and others prove that you can have a healthy diet of just rice, some fish and seaweed, which costs next to nothing. The poor getting fat is not an income issue, it's a social and an education issue.

    Let me tighten your analogy even further to pull it back to earth a bit: Take the very best TTS software, using that record a book of your choice, and now try to sell the resulting product to audio book customers.

    Now try to explain why you won't generate considerable sales. Hint: a sterile computer generated voice rendering some text to speech is by far not the same as an actor trained in dramatic arts reading aloud the same text.

    And nobody should be forced to pay the same royalties for both renditions. A small markup might be in order, but the full audio book price, never.

    I agree. First poster should have pointed out that we are currently witnessing Oval Office 2009, Starter Edition, and that user 'Obama' has open way more applications than just two, which will cost quite some extra charge.

    I don't know about the past gold standard of Seagate drives. Mind you, this is purely anecdotal, but of all the drives I had to exchange personally over the last ten years, 100% were made by Seagate. I kept buying Samsung drives whenever I could choose them myself, and all of those are fine. Maybe Samsung just can't afford sloppy QM.

    Microsoft just announced a change of plans: The company is going to rename its Live Search service to 'Cloud' which is Japanese for 'guy with yellow spikey hair and a big, big sword'. Microsoft representatives expressed their hope that this move would refresh the brand with a more youthful and positive image.

    Rejected alternative name suggestions include 'Kumo' which is the German abbreviation for 'Kuestenmotorschiff' (coaster), and 'Develo-Debu' which is Japanese and short for 'scary sweaty fat man yelling "Developers!"'.

    Yeah right, only that 'Box' is not a German word. Try 'Kisten' instead (plural of 'Kiste'=box). This doesn't mean that Box/Boxen is not used in colloquial German in the exact way the parent post talks about, because it is.

    'Boxen' on the other hand is German for what you would call 'boxing' (the sports).

    Maybe LucasArts are mistaking the raw download numbers for secured sales while it's obvious that anything labeled 'SW' will generate some hype. As for me, I downloaded the PS3 demo last week, found it incredibly dull, deleted it. Disclaimer: I've always been more of a Star Trek fan, anyway.

    Good for you then, but I beg to differ, a 'poorly executed quality product' is something I would mod you Funny for, but certainly not something to be found in the real world.

    Anyway, as long as you're happy with your 360, play it for the time it lasts you, but have you considered what will happen when your fourth or fifth model breaks down, three or four years from now? Personally, I expect my consoles to at least _try_ to survive for 10 years minimum, my PS1 still does fine for that matter.
