  2. Nothing has changed on Why Computer RPGs Waste Your Time · · Score: 1

I agree with some people that the whole basics of RPG's have not changed. Most Online games no mater if it's Guild war, EQ, or D&D online-you still have to do some quests. They can be fetching something or killing something but you still have to do quests. And after a little while that get boring-you can sugar coat it with different graphics and sounds but it is still the same pattern. There are some games that are open ended like EVE-online and Entropia Universe but they have a big flaw too. That being the older player will forever have an advantage over the new player. Since their leveling is more effected by time those whole start early will have an advantage. In the end even those games have the same faults or should I say the same routines kill this, mine that, repeat.

I'm sure this is also understood. The key point here I see is that these people where able to pull of such an event at the cost they did. To me this also seems as a spirited event to prove that you don't need the government or big corps to do such things. I mean for fun this is great but it just might be the trigger to get other people/groups thinking on how to proceed with the next step.

  5. Maybe OT: on Photograph the Police, Get Arrested · · Score: 1

Well one thing is you have bad and good cops. Second thing is training. Every state/district has its own training requirement for the police academy. Some 21 weeks other as little as 7 weeks. To be a police officer takes a lot of training. In other countries their police officers can go more than a year for the training-which I think is needed. You cannot memorize and understand all the laws you enforce in such a short period of time. Also you cannot be expected to totally perform your job after a few months of training-with that you get a bad supervisor and it all goes down hill. Lastly there should be a tougher policy on who becomes an office-and the ones who become police officer should also get paid a lot more.

Well just a note about the F-22...where is it? I mean we have 2 whole squadrons of them after how many years? And what of their fighting capabilities? We will never know unless we go to another war; come to think of it Iran still has those F-15's we gave them in the 70's so maybe we can test them there.

But drones and "war games' will never truly test the planes and the pilots. We can have all this speculative data the companies' sell the government but it comes to real world applications. Not lets see, the B-1 useless, B-2 useless, F-117 useless; now let see here the C-130 can't beat it, B-52 still working after all these years, A-10 still the best ground support out there. The F-16 and F-15 are still good planes and yet have plenty of life left in them and have many working modifications out there. Are military is just stuck in too much tape. I hope the F-22 won't flop like the other great planes we have invested so much money into.
