...but I don't think mom and pop shops are any more trust worthy than the big guys. Its about ethics. Mom and Pop can be unethical bastards just as easily as Wal Mart can. And its harder for Wal Mart to disappear into the night. No, an ugly website does not lead me to trust it. It leads me to wonder why they didn't invest some money into marketing, and what other parts of their business they might do half ass.
From a consumer stand point, not many people are going to spend $600 to $1000 to get 2 video cards that can do really spiffy graphics. Its a very niche market which means no game company is going to spend an extra few months developing eye candy for a graphics card that a very small population uses. More likely we'll see ATI come out with a competing product that won't be so expensive and will attract more buyers.
In order to leave those ports closed by default Microsoft would have to actually include a simple way of opening them and administering them. They're too busy with other important projects like making my graphical interface prettier. I neeeeeeeed to have shadows on my desktop.
It isn't used much anymore but it was one of the very first object oriented programming languages. OOP is very important for modern programming. If you're applying for a job most companies will require that you do OOP. Its very easy to learn and it teaches you the fundamentals. If you want to jump right into the thick of programming start with C# or C++..NET is a good bet for a job right now. Most places will expect you to have a computer science degree.
...enough is enough. If you want to fight Microsoft go make a better distribution of Linux to compete with them and quit crying every time Microsoft bundless some software. Its called offering a competitive product. Microsoft has competition in the way of Apple and Linux. Its up to the industry to offer a better alternative, its not up to the government to beat Microsoft with the litigation stick every time they think Microsoft's stock is getting too valuable. You, yeah you, go and build a better product and then don't sell out when Bill knocks on your door.
I use to play them before I had things like responsibilities. Well, let me rephrase. I use to play them before I decided I should be living up to my responsibilities.
Good Ol' Lum. I once had the honor of being featured in one of his cartoons that spoofed my former clan, the Crimson Empire. Nefas Nekura. Though I believe he modified the name slightly. Its hard to remember when there were so many people spoofing us that we ceased to make serious banners and went with Sesame Street themed banners featuring our new clan name "teh Cramson Emprire".
Especially the xbox. I found bf2 to be bf1942 with modern warfare. There was really nothing special about it. I didn't even really enjoy bf1942 that much. It was plagued by spawncamping and terrible "realistic" controls. Seriously, I don't want to have to learn aerodynamics to figure out how to fly a helicopter.
In the year 2156, when the aliens attack, the hackers will have saved us from them because our computers will be safe from their hacks and we will have all these script kiddies who will be able to take down the alien network with denial of service attacks.
...we'll be living through all those terrible science fiction movies of the 70s. Competition = good, monopoly = bad. When Walmart dominates what is to keep their prices down? Their conscience? Laughable. They don't have one. People will be forced to steal, or worse, riot. Then the government will be pressured into making changes that will restrict our rights even more. We'll be living in even more of a police state. Finally, it will culminate in civil war. Hmm..this gives me a good idea for a sci fi movie.
The strong character does not get stronger by helping the weaker. What the hell game was he playing? Maybe he's thinking of Asheron's Call. There is no benefit to aiding weaker character's in WoW.
...from the breaking of cultural barriers are likely to be prevented from doing so by their government's sensoring of the internet. The question is, will we see these governments blocking content in these games? As of yet I haven't seen it. We already have games that allow people from all over the world to play together. They're called Massive Online Games. In World of Warcraft I play with people from China, Russia, etc. The language barrier is a serious problem though.
PC gaming will die when consoles start being able to do all the things my PC can. At which point, consoles will basically be proprietary PCs that don't do word processing. All I need out of a gaming PC or console is internet access, hard drive, great graphics, great sound, mouse, keyboard, joystick, email, and web access. At that point PCs won't be necessary for gaming.
The thing that won't kill PC gaming is price. While upgrading a PC can be expensive, it doesn't have to be done very often. With the new prices of consoles the price issue is less and less important. Expect the xbox to cost $400. I paid $900 for my last big upgrade to my PC and that was 5 years ago. The only upgrade I've needed since then was a new video card. I bought a geforce FX 5200. I can play Half Life 2, Counter-Strike:source and WoW with relatively no video lag. Admittedly I need a serious upgrade but the games are playable. With new consoles coming out every 2 to 3 years thats going to be $400 to every minor PC upgrade that I need.
Have you looked in a store or online lately?

Are CRTs History?

There are still buttloads of CRTs for sale. Its not like they are going to run out. They have stockpiles of these things.
If anyone bothered reading the Yahoo service description it isn't a blanket $5 per month for a million songs. You can only download the songs to your media player. If you want to burn the songs you still have to pay 79 cents per song to do that. I don't know how many times you can burn it either. It may be a burn once situation. I can't find any information on that. Also, there is a very limited selection of music players that you are allowed to download the songs to. Otherwise you are stuck listening to them on your PC. This is really not adequate for what most people want and do. Especially those who get the songs from a p2p program.
We'll have to wait and see on pricing. Is this new tech going to work on old SLI cards?

By complaining about the fact that printing from Firefox really sucks. Someone write me up a bug report. I'm too lazy.

With a few exceptions, time = skill is the way that RPGs work. It should be no surprise that online RPGs are the same way.
Ever played an MMO?

Couldn't they have come up with a better name?
Like 95% of patents this one is bogus. Yet again, the USPTO relies on the pockets of the victims of these "attacks" to weed out the "bad" patents.

...if MS won't conform to the net standard they will find more and more people are using Firefox instead of IE. I code for Firefox and test in IE.
Thanks for proving my point and demonstrating your own.
Funny, I heard it was more like 50% of all statistics were made up. Of course, 75% of all internet forum posts are full of crap.

No, I don't hate blogs, I hate the word blog. Every time I hear it, it annoys me. Its not a good word. Please choose a new word.

There will no longer be a doubt that laptops give you nut cancer.
