I am not sure if it is quite the same with the MPAA. It seems that the RIAA price CDs equally. DVDs have different prices, frequently depending on the studio that releases them, which I think the end will be more beneficial to the consumer.
It is too bad that the artists that already have made a fair amount of money (and that are fairly famous) don't start there own label that sells music online by the song (yes I know about rhapsody, but they require a monthly fee) or that sell the discs for $12 bucks instead of 20.
In fact, wouldn't it be COOL if you could listen to the songs online at a low bitrate, then buy the cd, and while it is shipping to you, it lets you download the album in your format of choice.
I know someone will get on here saying (or at least think it), can't we concentrate on making the 2.5 kernel as stable as 2.2.x. Fonts are just for making things look 'purdy' which doesn't help if you are crashing, blah blah blah
Fonts are very important.
Fonts are one of the last barriers to a linux migration. That is also one of the first (negative) differences people notice on my monitor.
Never underestimate the lure of a goodlooking UI on the average user!
Back on Nintendo after you scored a certain amount of points (like 25000 or so) you would see a rocket take off. The rockets got progressively larger and more complicated looking as your score increased.
After an hour and a half of my fingers going crazy, I reached my highest score ever. I could not wait to see this! To my shock there was the dinkiest little rocket (it is the first one they show you) and while I was screaming ripoff at the tv, the kremlin, which is always next to the pad, ends up blasting off!
It was the single coolest video game surprise of my childhood.
Okay so here is one for you, do you still pay the monthly fee? Is it 9.99 per month plus.99 per download?
If that is the case, there is no way I am doing this. I barely buy 5 cds a year. If it is truly ala carte, then this is the closest thing to our requests (other than the windows only part) and I will go for this!
I was a student in High School researching the KKK. I went to the KKK's official website only to have the filter kick in. I then tried other searches to no avail. I even tried using the National Association for the Advancements of White People to get a picture of its founder who was a klansman.
It blocked that as 'hate speech'. Interestingly the 'Black Panthers' were accessible.
That proved to me, conclusively, that "hate speech" is considered one way and always originates from "Whites". Too bad equal standards don't apply to groups that spout hate speech. If you allow one, then you should allow the other. If you block one, it is inconsistent to not block the other.
If you have read anything about Germany, you will know they are so anti-anti-semetic that they made it illegal to use anti semetic rhetoric. Mein Kampf is certainly nazi propaganda so

"Major League Baseball causes snow to melt"
Because: 1. I notice that snow melts in the spring 2. I notice that baseball starts in the spring.
"The Earth is getting warmer, due to a variety of pollutants."
Because: 1. The Earth has been getting warmer for more than 100+ years 2. Pollutants have been used in force for 100+ years
The Earth naturally warms and cools, though it would be irresponsible to completely ignore the issue. We also need environmentalists to treat this as a science and not a religion.
The EPA actually considered (albeit breifly) making backyard barbeques illegal because of the pollution associated with it.
Depending on when you think you were a kid, that sounds about right. If you were a kid at 8 years old, a 5 dollar ticket costs 7.50. That is what it costs here in Florida. 7-8 for evening shows. 5-6 for students and seniors.

Any piece of crap can make money so it would make sense that they want to put out as much as possible. Plus we sort of do that already. How many movies will I see before the end of the year? Maybe two. TTT and something else. There will be many more that come out though that I have no desire to see.

More time before DVD release?
Studios have said they want a quick turn around to capitalize on the popularity of the theatrical release. If DVDs are more popular then that would suggest theatrical releases are also more popular.
The bottom line: Good movies in the future will make lots of money. Bad movies won't. DVDs are just another market for films. The MPAA 20 years from now will see they were just as wrong about DVD as they were about VHS.
As a quick point - could this article come out be related to Eldred v. Ashcroft? Maybe the studios are saying "Hey SC look, we are barely making it, we need all 95 years to get back the money invested."

That is weird, I saw tons of porn in Gardenmoen airport (the main airport outside of Oslo)
Which is different because in the states you can't put porn where kids can get it.
Aren't Norwegian cabdrivers handing out condoms?
I thought sex and scenery were the only things going for Norway, I guess now freedom of the press can tie for #3
