In windows 7 it could automatically upload your whole drive to the disk allowing raw files and videos to all be picked up in one go. In windows 10 some automatic App will take your jpegs only and load them somewhere in the cloud in one single folder for the NSA to face search for Bin Ladens dog. Given that I have 50GB of accumulated Jpegs and Raw files I have my own folder structure to store them in, my own applications to view and edit them with and it most definitely does not live in the cloud shoebox you get for free from Microsloth. So I end up manualy dragging and dropping files from one explorer window to another. bah humbug.

History is littered with successful political movements that achieved power by stirring up hatred of minorities. This is usually followed by mass discrimination and killing. It is a weakness of the human character that we are easily persuaded that "exterminating the dirty Jews" will solve all our problems. Up until the advent of the Internet and its walled garden services there were political conventions that stopped the spread of this weaponized propaganda. Your case would have some merit if it were not for your president who breaking with all convention has jumped on the bandwagon to take advantage of hatred of the other. The conservative right should take some responsibility for the need to suppress this propaganda and maybe we would not be banning things.

Try using a script blocker like uMatrix on Firefox for a while and you will see that almost every website on the planet is trying to track you with Facebook and Google scripts. They have a profile on you whether you think you have one or not. The trick is to screw around with it as much as possible. Moving on from script blockers one should probably move on to using VPN and ultimately Tor. Perhaps someone could comment on the effectiveness of this.

So the debacle of AQ and Cambridge Analytica weaponizing personal data and advertising to throw elections, bring about the exit of the UK from the EU and mess with third world countries comes as no surprise. I watch tons of brilliant university science lectures on YouTube, these are mostly public talks or bang up to date colloquia on things like genomics, virology, gravitational waves, astronomy, geology, cosmology, particle physics. I pay nothing to listen to the greatest teachers in the world, it is I would say the most wonderful thing on the Internet.
YouTube for some is the great library of Alexandra delivered to your desktop, you don't have to watch knob heads tasering rats screaming 'me me me' or Nazi supporters like Infowars.
I enjoyed it, stuffed full of modern cultural references as it was; Baywatch indeed. I even recorded it on cassette tape off FM radio just like the first episode 40 years ago (No TV license so cannot legally use the digital BBC product).
I have no idea what the story-line is, or who all the multiple personalities and daughters are; but it was a pleasant ride. I hope it slows down a bit and the characters have a conversation at some point as the first episode was just relentless soundbites punching me in the face non-stop, which is fun but not terribly memorable. I expect I will pick it up if I replay it a few times. It is recognizably in the same canon as the original with its quick and knowing wit, so I am looking forward to hearing something completely new from Douglas's literary offspring.

You forget that it is a primary attack method of the Russian military and that their internet is tightly controlled. The evidence is likely to show external posts of strongly emotional appeals to both sides of any political dispute in order to break down the cohesiveness of our society.
Given many posts here they are doing a great job. We used to be largely content with voting to determine our politics and today there are many souces openly calling for civil war. Anywhere that there has actually been a civil war recently has a destroyed economy so I would not dismiss this method of attack quite so glibly.
Overall I do not think that this is such a terrible move. There are enormous numbers of videos about peoples hobbies which appear to be made in the vague hope that this will make money for the creators. These videos are generally a lot less interesting than those made by people who actually want to share something.
Seeing as it is still free to post videos I do not think that the useful content will go away. Looking at the top videos that YouTube promotes and which most of the population is viewing they are the same unadulterated excrement that is available on terrestrial T.V. and if YouTube wants to make money out of them and pay for me to post videos on subjects of interest or for me to watch free lectures and public talks from Universities around the world - Fantastic, I have no complaints. Hopefully I will still be able to find your specialist topic videos using the search functions, I am good at search, I will find you.
