This is how I see it. You start development on a game. Base it for the PS2 since the userbase is so large and ignorant that ANYTHING will sell. If it's high enough, you can continue working toward another version. This time make it on a simpler codebase, for the PC and XBox in nearly one shot. Then there's the GameCube. Sure it's easy enough to develop/port for(Better than the PS2), but the fact remains is that you are going to compete with the world's best games. Considering the 8 million sellers on the cube are all Nintendo, Sega or Capcom, you're going to have a hard time making it stand out. On the PS2 and XBox, there isn't much in the way of 1st and 2nd party to keep you down.
In other news, Free Radical will no longer let Eidos publish their titles, so TimeSplitters 3 will most likely still be Cube-bound.
But really this is all about how Nintendo is slow to bring games over to Europe. I mean, the GameCube has more million-sellers worldwide(AND in the USA as well) than the XBox. Nintendo's raking in over $1 MILLION profit a DAY. I really fail to see a problem with a losing company pulling out. What's been the last couple failed companies? Eidos, Acclaim, 3D0 and Interplay? Oh yeah! Tons of blockbusters there! (Pardon HOMM and Fallout) American programmers need to learn to program better, rather than chickening out. Good to know they would rather go where it's easiest and presents no challenge of sales to profit.
They released some update that allowed him to find the charging station and charge himself when his battery was low. That kind of AI is amazing. It's almost sentient.
I didn't say it was bad, but the other titles are really piss poor.
As for XBL, I doubt it, since SOE lacked it. If you want it, you could always buy the PC version and use Multi-Theft Auto.
Although that does bring up an interesting question. Assuming the XBox version is a fairly straight port of the PC version, could they hack the game to add network support?
A few of those TDK games were for the Cube and GBA. Take-Two Interactive has something against Nintendo. They released three titles for the N64, a fishing game, Space Station Silicon Valley and Monster Truck Madness 64. That's hardly what I would call confident products. Seeing Smuggler's Run and some other titles ported gives hope, but it still has a tarnish on it.
Not as popular? Yet another(6th) movie on the way, and already sold about 10 million copies of Ruby/Sapphire in under a year. I'd say that's DAMN GOOD.
I hope we get notified when this case is thrown out.
Providing a service that normal people can handle is not a problem. The negligent parent is. I can do anything I want, if I enjoy it too much, who's fault is that?
Just another American trying to place the blame elsewhere. No one here wants to take responsibility for their actions.
Computers should be illegal, because I ignore things when I use them! Such bull. . .
Mario is the most recognized character in this entire world. More than Mickey Mouse.
Isn't it expected to have Mario shirts? I have dozens games shirts. Sure, many are free from E3, but I spent $50 on a collared Mario-clad bowling shirt from Hot Topic(I know, I know).
I get compliments for them. Video-game fashion is often hard to come by, so it is a nice and positive thing.
Of course, when everybody starts wearing them, I'll feel a bit disappointed as it would wear thin. But that'll never happen, right?;)
But aren't the scores representative of the other games on that specific console? Meaning a 96 on the XBox one means of all the XBox games, it's in the top 4% of the good games? Comparing the same game three different times, seperated only by HDTV support and minor slowdown, with the PS2 ranking lowest means there's more quality titles on the PS2, then. Right? Or is the slowdown that bad?
Right, and your PS2 can play X/S/VCDs, jpegs, mpegs, and all mp3s, and power-on from the controller and play all region dvd's without modifying it?
Not to mention it will NOT FAIL ON ME after 1 year? Do you know the failure rate of PS2s? Maybe YOU aren't part of it, but go to a GameStop or any game place and ask about the failure rate of PS2s and the most common part to fail(DVD Lasers).
I just bought a $50 DVD player yesterday to compliment my Cube. My roommate has a PS2 and I have a DVD drive in my computer.
Why buy the player? Because the cheap $50 player does a lot more than a thrown-on PS2 pile-of-junk-player does. The public is just too dumb to appreciate it.
Check out the news archive at Trillian's website. A long while back, Trillian got an impromptu upgrage because MS was changing the network and was letting Cerulean Studios in on it. They say unauthorized third-party clients, meaning there exist some that ARE authorized, or at least less of a security threat.
Heck, Trillian has blowfish encryption on SecurIM!
Europe has heavy taxes. Really it's not worth it to translate 5 different languages and all this extra crap just for a couple thousand in sales. Europe doesn't buy enough games to make it worth while.
Who's the loser here? Console sales aren't instant profit. Games are what matters, and with Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire selling 9.5 Million worldwide(Who said it was dead?), Nintendo can afford to make the games they want without having to copy anyone else to make a quick buck.

There's also the spiky-haird screaming asian guy holding the headphones on his head.
He's sold everything from headphones to music to any sale that could be considered shocking. I want to shake his hand.
The dragon from Adventure...
Ms. Pac-Man
Mega Man
Ryu and Ken
Snake(MG)
And put a ban on Square characters because I dislike how they ousted Mario and Link on GameFaqs after being in a single game.

Despite what he says, I'm still going to need to get a new graphics card(From a GeForce 2 GTS), and I heard something of a special ATI bundle.
I'm an ATI guy, I got the GF2 for free, before that I had a Rage 128.
Really, is soccer THAT IMPORTANT over there? I don't see Madden winning any awards, and rightly so, but it's just a sports game.

Or so says some

Ronald has been on a real downfall in the last 2 decades. McDs is seriously considering dropping him entirely.
Everybody knows in GTA3 you can only fire uzi's out your car window, and unless you are doing a job, you can't pick up anyone else.
Amateurs.(Vice City was in the past, doesn't count)

I looked. I'm going to ask my friend about it. I believe it was based on the number of broadband adapters sold.
I've insisted for years that GTA3 ripped of Driver and Driver 2. GTA 1 + 2 lacked a lot of things, although I still enjoy them.
And the GameCube has about 400,000 subscribers for PSO I+II.
Online is finally getting off on the right foot, but still needs a lot more work.

THREE NES Ninja Gaiden titles were made. So which one is it a sequel to?
Europe has heavy taxes.
Really it's not worth it to translate 5 different languages and all this extra crap just for a couple thousand in sales. Europe doesn't buy enough games to make it worth while.
Australia, too.
"Total sales were down 6.9% to 1.6 trillion yen as PlayStation2 games consoles and Trinitron TVs sold poorly."
And read more carefully, net profits were less than Nintendo's. The 1.6 trillion yen is SALES.
Even with the movies, music, tvs, ps2s, electronics and all the other Sony things, Nintendo still makes more profit.
Really!
Sony's profits are down 98%.
Microsoft's game division is down 42 percent.
Nintendo posts a 11.5 billion yen profit for the quarter. That's about $1 MILLION A DAY or $12 a second.
Who's the loser here? Console sales aren't instant profit. Games are what matters, and with Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire selling 9.5 Million worldwide(Who said it was dead?), Nintendo can afford to make the games they want without having to copy anyone else to make a quick buck.
