Lately in economy class your lucky if you have space for your knees, never mind a laptop. And the difference to travel in business ( at least in inter-continental flights) is far too ludicrous, i can pay one year of high speed internet once i landed;)
I am the only one traveling in economy class;/ You know, the place where you worry more about how much space betweeen each seat you will find, so you can stretch your legs every now and then, and about what kind of weird food will they serve...
This is classified as extortion. If you have to report a crime, you report it to the police. Not ask for money or else you report it. This is a crime too, so i don't see much future for them if not in the same jailhouse...
Is anybody developing an opensource OSX compatibility layer . It just fails me how we can blame m$ so much and the strongest groups spend most of their time trying to monkey m$ engineers...
But too much techno babbling, such as in statements like "Userspace manipulation of packets can lead to less overhead" because "Kernels are optimized to talk to other hosts, not to scan them". Ok so you invented raw sockets, not to mention the fact that it's possible to send arbitrary packets from the kernel too, although from userspace it's for sure a more portable way. And MAC based networking , i can mention at least 3 commercial products that do that ( and in a much more flexible way). ( i maintain one of them:) Anyway, some stuff is really interesting, a few new toys to play with i guess;)
Then maybe linux / unix should target people who decides the purchases outside india so there will be no demand for indian windows programmers ? I doubt the demand for their work is just in india.
Frankly, I suspended my PayPal account months ago. This episode just confirms my doubts about their service. It's like your bank gets robbed and tells you sorry, your account is zero now... I think everyone who owns a Paypal account should write and eventually cancel their own account. It happened to Abiword but it could happen, and i -bet- it's happening, to anyone. They just targeted a substantial account, this time.. Ofcoures it's internet, its point and click, its insecure, bla bla bla but it's real money. People has to realize it's real money. It shouldnt make a difference if they rob my PayPal account or if they rob my house, but alas, it does. Internet has reached a critical mass of people years ago, but still when you do business there you feel like you are not in 21th century, but back in the far west...
I think the community is in uproar because -they-used to make money selling characters to newbies...(and for a lot more than 29$) it happens in any multi player RPG. So i wouldnt blame Origin at all... They are just trying to make more money.
33 months may not be an injust sentence. We need to distinguish from people who swaps warez and people who build an (illegal) business -selling- warez CDs( for example Twilights and so on).
And it was like that that the big mean giant became good and open sourced all it's stuff...
and mr cringely finally got a life...
c'mon...

I think this story is classifiable as advertising... like many "stories" on slashdot lately....

I think given the trend of pc games, this is the obvious outcome. You can't expect people to spend 2000$ every 6 months to upgrade their hardware...

How much does slashdot get from Apple ? :)
I also heard John Carmack finds gravity inefficient and is planning to rewrite it !
The video was pretty funny not depressing as stated :) A nice fireball was missing though. Guess it's still an alpha and it'll be in the beta version.

Or these "memos" leak a bit too easily ? Almost sounds like part of Microsoft tactic :)

99$ to -download- a system that is 99.9% based on free software ? :) give me a break :)

Napster itself died long time ago. It's just becoming a generic term to designate P2P services... they all say "like napster but it works" :)
I feel a lot of people already compensates Apple politics on hardware by not buying apple computers :)
Corel is owned by Microsoft anyway.
The plot is now fully revealed...
It looks like a clone of Windows XP to me...
