or you could do the same thing and put it inside a gutted laptop, a large purse, or backpack and no one would expect anything. I hear cell phones are also used in IEDs. Oh look, there's someone on their cell phone in an airport, get 'em.

It's a complicated business. I understand the detainment, but as for charges I don't know since there's not enough details in the article about the whys. Why did she not answer? Why did she have playdough? etc.

Sidenote: Mythbusters had a similar incident. They were using a BB gun to shoot down balloons in a hangar. Someone called security and they rolled up with guns drawn. The guy with the BB gun kept walking towards security with the BB gun in his hand saying "It's just a BB gun." Luckily, no one was shot.

Sure you can get a USB device that is the same price as a DVD recorder, but there's different ideas behind each device. DVD recorders have "unlimited" storage space and that storage doesn't have to be in one spot. I can make backups everyday and not run out of space and I can keep those backups in separate locations. I have no problem burning a 1KB file to a DVD-R and giving it to someone. I'm not going to do that with a USB flash device.

That's what they want you to think. Normal people who see people with guns outside are going to have an elevated heart rate. The terrorists will stand out as the calm people.

Deciding a person's intentions strictly by heart rate is not going to be accurate. Exercise, sex, masturbation, video games, pornography, and what's on the person's mind will change their heart rate. A person nervous about cops finding their drug stash as they're questioned about a murder will probably be as the murderer.

No typical family is anywhere near this volume of usage.

I wouldn't be so sure of that. I've seen more and more typical families with 2 or more computers networked together. Two kids and two adults can use plenty of bandwidth with more and more HD and regular video content and legal music out there. Game patches are getting bigger and bigger. News and radio stations have streaming feeds.

    The same approach works here

The same approach doesn't work here. A speed limit is a defined threshold. "Equivalent of 30,000 songs, 250,000 pictures or 13 million emails in a month" is not a defined limit. It's like saying the speed limit is 55 wargs per hour. What's a warg? It's a measurement that we define as we please. For all you know, Comcast is using Anti-Procrastination Song at 64kbit/s as their defined limits.

Since Comcast is run with regional franchises, and each community has different infrastructure limits and customer loads

So? Each franchise is able to set their limits then according to their area when you sign up for the service.
