I feel OnDemand and Netflix reach different types of viewers. For me, OnDemand satisfies the impulse buyer. I'm sitting at home bored and decide I want to watch a movie. Quick browsing and instant gratification. No driving, No waiting. Movies are priced to compete to compete against a single rental. Selection is limited. With Netflix, you have to pick what you're going to watch days before you actually get to watch it. If your mood or wants change, tough luck. Though you end up with a much lower cost per movie if you watch a lot and a much bigger selection. For awhile, I used Blockbuster's Instore Unlimited (It might have changed since I last used it.) It was close by and convenient for me. Plus I could go there, pick 3 movies from a large selection, go home, watch two, return and get another two. 5 movies a night. When I was dead broke and on vacation, I watched 20 movies in 4 days since I couldn't afford to actually do anything.
There's plenty of room for different movie rental places as long as they're not trying to reach the exact same customers.
Why is Mactopia ending the downloads at the end of January? I can either see not ending the availability or ending it at the same time as support ends.
I did figure there was power storage. With each car producing between 5 - 50KW, I believe this would be enough power led traffic lights for a significant length of time. I also assumed that you wouldn't put a traffic light in an area that didn't have traffic. Justification for one for an intersection that no one uses probably wouldn't pass budget. Another option is to use it only for supplemental lights like those placed on stop signs.
TFA compares it to current impact resistant material. "The new Tungsten based IF material has up to twice the strength of the best impact resistant materials currently used in protective armor applications such as boron carbide and silicon carbide, and are over 5 times stronger than steel" It doesn't claim to anything else, just better than the current material. Sure a bullet could still kill you unless the force is spread out by other material or a structure made by the new material. Of course, you could be killed by a virus, poison gas, or a sonic blast, but that has nothing to do with their claims about the material.
is that the traffic lights are hooked into the grid. A local or regional municipality might want to add traffic signals and lights for visibility to an intersection that's not near the local grid. The installation costs of this device might be cheaper than extending the local grid and offset the cost even more.
None of the four global music companies has been immune to the slide. Vivendi Universal SA's Universal Music has managed to keep its dip to just 2%, but the company has seen disappointing releases by rap stars 50 Cent and Eminem, whose latest releases have done far less well than many retailers had hoped.
How can people not have flocked to purchase the CD covering Eminem's 6 year major record company career? With once talented artists throwing crap like this and his last album, no wonder sales are down.
Due to internet sales, I've dealt with some very reputable companies that had either no storefront or very small, sometimes shoddy-looking storefronts. Less overhead since their sales are mainly online.
Do some research especially in forums. While some ratings sites get rigged by the stores, a simple question in a forum will bring response from customers that you can ask questions of. If a crooked store answers on the forum, you generally get a few quick bad responses right after them like where's my money?.
Try to buy small from a new company. Don't drop $3000 on your first purchase. Buy some film or something.
Talk to the store owner and ask some questions. You'll get an idea of honesty and how knowledgeable they are. Sure, I don't need to buy everything from someone who knows about it, but it's an added plus.
Used to do this at parties in college. When you wanted all the strangers to leave, you just started playing some grindcore music real loud. Works a lot faster than saying "You don't have to go home but you can't stay here"
TLDs are based on location or category. Category TLDs are mostly useless (.travel,.aero,etc) except for.gov and maybe.xxx. I'm still not sure if I see the usefulness of.edu and.mil(wouldn't the be a sub-domain of the.gov?) Com just means you have a website these days. Location TLDs have different issues. If a local canadian company Website has to buy Website.ca for there business and then buy website.com in case they go global. Plus any other TLDs that you can think of. What good did the TLDs do? What about using canada.website.com? The other problem comes from multiple companies in diffent countries with the same trademarked name. Laotian Website bought website.la and then saw.com was taken, so they have make a land grab for other TLDs. Canadian Website sees this and does the same. When I'm in Thailand and go to website.th, which company do I get?
Voice menus - ever try going through a voice menu and someone else is talking to loud or trying to ask you a question? All of a sudden you're 5 layers deep and don't know where you are
Giving info to the menu system - most of the time you just end up repeating the information
Lack of queue information - Sony had a system that would tell your place in line and estimated wait time. There have been many times where your call gets lost in the system. Waiting, punching 0, etc does nothing, but a hang up and recall gets you answered right away.
Machines that hang up on you right away with no choice. Machines that hang up on you after 20 minutes of hold music with no choice.
Your call is important messages especially when they sound like someone picked up the line.
There's a ton more, but it's the holidays. So I'll leave you with this: remember when they had rotary phone option where you could just wait to talk someone if you did not have a touch tone phone. Used it all the time with my touch tone phone.
How well does Linux on USB work with older PC's(that have USB)? I thinking was thinking of using it as recovery/anti-virus/toolkit drive, but didn't think older PC's would boot from it.
Fuji still uses Taiyo Yuden for some of their CD-Rs. When looking at the packaging, look for Made in Japan to get the TY instead of Made in Taiwan. Lately, I've only found the Taiyo Yuden in 30-paks. I gave up using anything else a long time ago, and returned the first Taiwanese Fuji CD-Rs that I bought right away.
Windows Machine - No Encryption What happens if I take a text file, rename it and change the extension to some.dll,.sdb,whatever and drop it deep down into the system possibly replacing a file that's never used.
Would they actually find it? Assuming only basic precautions - turning of recent documents, etc.
Floating Head - you've seen the crystal ball where it's a tv playing a dvd reflected onto a balloon http://www.bigscreamtv.info/bigscreamtv.html - do the same thing except with a web cam with fx on the microphone - personalized floating head.
Finally, the article points out(at the end) the faceplates cover the screen. Everything I've read uptil this point just talked about the color. Now I'll actually consider buying it. I'll still have to try it out before I buy it though. I have replaced a couple of faceplates on non-flip cell phones including a Sony that have cracked or been scratched. Why other manufacturers of small items don't follow suit is beyond me.
My tube TV has corrections based on the direction that I face it. I assumed this was due to the magnetic field. Do any monitors have this feature?
Good parents

That makes two of us. I'll have to make an entry in my personal wiki about this.
Yeah, this is SOP. Either you give your 2-week notice the day before you start your new job, and double up on pay, or take a 2 week paid vacation.

But his Etch-A-Sketch is already wireless?
If they actually have a computer, simply connect his computer to the wireless router via CAT-5.

Why should I wear (and wear out) good clothes when there's no single women where I work?
It doesn't matter which company wins, either spyware or EULA is going to lose.

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
