Whoops! I'm afraid so. You forgot to slather them in Hot Grits along with the naked, petrified statue of Natalie Portman... Then complain about how Commander Taco spelled everything wrong.
Oh Shit! I never heard of that... That's why geeks shouldn't have guns. Is that why there's no DC Shoot this year in Vegas?
I was there the last two years and didn't see anybody get sniped. I bet those Shmoo guys had something to do with it. I saw their 10,000 Watt flamethrower sniper-rifle. Oh well, I'll be at Defcon XIII next weekend. I guess I'll have to look into a bulletproof vest.

Good Call, Muzzmac.
I was RTFA and I had to keep looking at the calendar...
"What Month is it? May? Hmmm... Feels like it just turned April."
Nothing my eyes read in the article made sense. I had to jump back to Slashdot and I hurriedly scrolled through the comments in a panic thinking I was slowly losing my mind and that this was just the first step. I knew my normally drab and uninspired apartment would look like the Circus Circus in Las Vegas by Dawn and my friends would no longer be able to recognize me as my countance became twisted from my rapid decent into madness...
Luckily, I found your comment and link to the Register.
"Why aren't we all using Macs in the first place?"
Because they're expensive.
Okay, maybe not so much anymore but in the "first place", they were expensive. Commodity IBM compatibles were much cheaper in the late 80's through the 90's.,
I know that not everyboy learned to use computers in that timeframe, but I bet a large majority of us did. I also know that it's not the only reason or even probably the biggest, but I'd think that it's up there.
"Non-geek warning: Watch out for computer viruses coming in email. They may look innocent with subjects like: Hi!, Confirmation, funny photos, etc. but they will contain a link that you must not click when using the Windows browser. If your computer is infected with this virus, you will need to visit this web site [link to Symantec or somewhere]."
Uhhh..
That is dumbed down.
It should be common knowledge by now (after what, ten years or better?) that viruses come via email. Those of us who aren't scared of our computers need to know that a new variant is out, what ports its utilizing, and where I can find more information.
It seems to come back to people that prefer to remain ignorant. It is bliss afterall. Many people seem to want to remain in the dark and don't want to put forth any effort to learn.
I don't think it's going to get any better until our children are the generation in control...
> If you ask any Mac user you will hear the same thing over and over.
No you won't. You can ask me.
I'll tell you that OS X runs damn solid but I've seen it crash. I've seen it lock up and I've seen it have driver issues.
I'll also tell you that XP can run damn solid. But again all the aforementioned problems can exist.
I'll admit that OS X _might_ have an edge in the stability department over XP but it's not nearly as large as the majority of Mac zealots would like the rest of the computer-using population to believe.
Mac users are so blinded by zelotry that they are complacent with ignorance.
> Seriously, though, the Unseen Comic pretty much describes my own opinion of American McGee by now, and somehow I doubt I'm alone judinging the department this came from.
>Name 3 features which are missing from the iPod, but are available in a competing product.
>For a bonus point, prove that doing a job "with little fuss" is not an important feature.
It looks like everyone else already has three missing features down pat. Myself, I would purchase one if it had but one important feature...
I want to copy music to/from it through the file system.
I don't like iTunes...at all. I don't like players that try to make me use their software to load / unload music to my device. I don't like DRM.
I want the iPod to connect to my machine and map itself as another drive so I can put whatever I want on it. If it happens to be music, great! Play it. If not, ignore it.
I haven't checked in awhile... Maybe this functionality is available with some hacks. But that sure takes the "little fuss" feature out of it, doesn't it.
While I'm on the subject, "little fuss" means different things to different people. To some, that means iTunes and having everything already set up for you by some "usablity" weenie who thinks he knows how you want it set up.
To me, "little fuss" means let me customize it the fucking way that I want without having to jump over every hurdle that you've attempted to put in my way.
Then again, most people that I know of that have these things cannot handle browsing their harddrives through Explorer or Finder...
I know that this isn't the ideal solution, but for those of you that just want to play single player....
Can't you just use dial-in to get it activated?
Does it push a lot of data across the network, even if just installing from a disc?
I got the Steam Version and it took almost 20 minutes to unlock on my DSL. Not sure if it was just because it was busy last night or if it was downloading a bunch of new data.
I too had this problem. Let AdAware take out New.net and Blammo! No network connectivity. Did the research and found the fix just like you did.
"And Class.... What did we learn?"
I learned to cruise through add/remove programs and remove any of the obvious spyware first. Sure, they don't usually "completely" remove themselves but then spybot/adaware get the remnants and I haven't had any problems with partial uninstalls on anything since.
"The next Winamp needs to be an FOSS application that supports Ogg, and uses it by default. That's the best way around .mp3 problems."
.ogg until the iPod supports it.
While I agree with this, I don't think that there's any way that the general populace will even consider
7
I thought it was otherwise known as "Slashdot".
>Personally I don't think I could deal with Ikari Warriors without the independent aim-and-move the arcade provided with the twist-stick...
Then I bet you'll love Ikari Warriors on the X-Box running MAME. I find the triggers are a good substitution for the old twist-stick.

No way... Ajax is the mountain that I look at out my office window everyday...

It's starting to look good, BTW. In case anybody cares.

Ya did a pretty good job otherwise.

Right.... Like Canada would take us.

Yeah.... But it's a helluva trip.
The FDA doesn't like us eating certain types of fungus, either.

You mean that I've never received a blowjob?
Maybe they should just call them blowparties...
It'd be easier to ask for, I bet...

...Or is it just a joke?
>And just who is behind this idea?
I dunno, but how long do you think before they start making Velcro chaps?
Seriously... Is this for real? Modify sheep to grow Velcro?
I guess if you can milk Spider-goats for silk, anything's possible...

My guess is a Civil Engineer. Prolly in wastewater.
Although the computer engineers coulda done a little better on the brain, I suppose.

From the looks of that picture, I'd say it's more like Michael Jackson for you. ;-D
I've always been more of a Betty guy, myself.
