How about an OLED Color screen? Slightly larger? How about being able to store album cover art or lyrics accessed when the song places and scrolled or displayed on the screen if the user wants?
"Adding two binary packages to the disk image (one for Mac OS X and one for Linux) plus a couple of platform specific Read Me files and then sending off a new hybrid image for future masters would not in any way require the release to be delayed. You just have one initial release for Windows, and a second that's multiplatform."
That means new boxes, new manuals, new cd cases, new SKU's, shelf space requests from stores, new pressing runs. It is not just a matter of just make a new master when its done. It costs money to do that. Money that could be spent better in other ways instead of catering to the very small market that is mac and linux gaming.
Mac and Linux users should consider themselves lucky that they are getting a version at all.
You are making a ton of assumptions about the setup of their development. I would think that doom 3 would be a lot more complex then an office application.
Only Carmack would be able to answer for sure, but I bet each new engine has brand new code that needs to be written for each OS. It is never just a simple matter of copying the code to the new OS and compiling it there and fixing a few specific problems.
Why should they delay the windows version just so that people that run OS's that are such a small percentage of the population should be able to play at the same time?
It would be more convenient for linux and OSX users but not for Id or anyone else.
To check on the various sites. I also signed up to be notified when they come in stock at various places. So far nothing. I'm hoping the supply will be better at the end of July. Here's hoping that ATI and Nvidia have been ramping up production to flood the market in time for Doom to hit the shelves.
Probably because it WASN'T confirmed as official back then. Today it is official. You made a guess back then just like the retailers who changed their dates. It wasn't official until Id Software made it official. You don't deserve any apologies.
I guarantee a TON of people are doing the exact same thing. I'm in the same boat as is another guy I know. All waiting for HL2 and doom 3. Well now that doom 3 has an official date its time to start buying.
Its really hard to find the new ati and nvidia cards though. A lot of places are backordered and many of them are charging jacked up prices which sucks.
Luckily LCD monitors aren't impacted and buy the time the field flips I'd place bets on no one using CRT monitors anymore. You can still use a northern monitor in the south or the other way, but the colors would be shifted a little. Luckily the majority of manufacturers provide controls to adjust all that would be impacted.
CS is NOT like other FPS. Not at all. When you start playing you WILL die and die a lot. Its part of the learning curve. Just because you can whoop it up in a DM game doesn't mean you will last more than 5 seconds in a CS match.
Basically you are saying you don't like it cause you died to quick and didn't bother to learn how the game works?
Try it again with a little more patience and on a good server where the other people know that you are a newbie and will go easy until you get the hang of it.
I've encountered numerous shows where people don't shower before hand and stink horribly, and thats for a short movie! I can't imagine sitting with geeks that don't believe in personal cleanliness for 4+ hours. Nasty nasty nasty.
Is Amazon making, producing or distributing the game? No. Whatever they say is a guess. Just like every other retailer.
The official doom 3 site made by Id Software says coming soon. I'd believe the guys actually making the game before a retailer who wants to get a bunch of orders.
No, they don't "deserve" to be more profitable, but it is the stores right to do everything they can to stay profitable and be as profitable as possible. They are a business, not a charity.
Just like its every customers right to find the best price and best service.
And that speed boost in running has ZERO to do with nvidia optimizations and therefore ZERO to do SM 3.0 benefits. That is just an adjustment to game balance.
Late last month actually means June 25th. Which by my count was only 1 week ago. But it wouldn't be a bash microsoft topic without a little twisting and manipulation.
Because IE comes installed already when people buy PCs. Its already there and working for the majority of people. No ISP is going to tell/recommend that their customers go to a web site and download and then install another web browser when the majority of their customers don't even know what any of that means to start with.
Supporting a browser does not just mean trouble shooting usage problems. If you recommend something not installed with the OS then you also have to support installation, uninstallation, as well as usage problems.
I still encounter web sites that don't render or work correctly under Mozilla. It doesn't matter who's fault it is. The fact that it doesn't work most of the time is a major problem. I use mainly Mozilla unless I go to one of those sites that don't work.
The CTO is right and you know it. You must have skipped over the:
"specially to those doing web development because it could lead to diferent rendering results."
Which is a completely valid concern.
Sending an email to work people via your work email implies work business. To think it doesn't just because you didn't specifically say "office PC" is stupid even if your ego can't take being told what to do by an officer.
I don't know what these frequent fliers have packed in their carry on bags that causes them to waste so much time at security. I've been to the nations busiest airports at the worst times (holidays) and have never spent more than 10-15 minutes or so getting through security. I never set off the metal detector therefore I never have to get searched. Its extremely simple:
1. Empty out your pockets into your carry on bag. Everything! Keys, changes, everything! I usually keep my wallet on me just because only thing in there is paper and plastic. 2. Stick your boarding pass in your back pocket so nothing is in your hands. 3. Wear sneakers. If you can't wear sneakers then take your shoes off ahead of time and send them through the machine. 4. No big metal belt buckles. I see this so often, people are idiots. 5. Walk through normally, not folding your arms or hands in pockets. 6. Be polite! This is a biggie! I've seen so many rude frequent fliers and businessmen at security.
Using these simple steps avoids any metal on you and gets you through security without getting stopped. It takes no time at all to put things in your carry on bag before you leave your home or car. But people are so freaking lazy then they act like the security is singling them out when the real truth is they set off the detector because they are a freaking moron.

Of stargate? And is Atlantis a continuation or a completely new thing?

Yeah, because once the game is loaded it looks so much different from running it under windows or OS X.
I guarantee a TON of people are doing the exact same thing. I'm in the same boat as is another guy I know. All waiting for HL2 and doom 3. Well now that doom 3 has an official date its time to start buying.

But at least with intels new naming system the processor speed, bus speed, and everything else is in the description right after it says Pentium 530.

Official Id Software site. Release date:
Coming soon.
There is no official release date. One has never been announced.
It could be before or it could be after. The fact is no one but Id Software knows for sure, and even they might not know.

You can make it completely automatic on 2000 also.
Why bother? You could already download it before the release date. Why bother making yet another horrible camcorder copy of it?
Why reinvent the wheel?

Does that mean more games with characters with blue hair, big eyes, bad dubbing, and disco clothes? And stories about being good to the earth?
