MS has missed the boat on just about everything. The bulk of disposable income wants gadgets, not PCs, sure a single PC is OK, but the money is in phones, tablets and consoles, and trying to turn the xbox into something worse through ads will only drive people away.
Apple is not an ISP, Sonic.net does not sell computers, so the sort of info that Sonic would be asked for is going to be different to the sort of info requested from Google or MS. I can see where they are coming from, I just question the methodology. Also there is a difference between complying with the law, whatever you may think of it, and obstructing it.
they have contributed by developing a technology, the details of which are given in a patent and which people can licence. It saves others time and effort to achieve the same result.
actually most males that I know are not religious except for the fact that they hate gays. Biblically it is the sexual act that is condemned, you can kiss all of the same sex partners that you want. The hypocrisy in todays religious society is that we accept so many of the other things that are also condemned in the bible. So it's easy to see why religion fails when it has so many double standards. Take away the bias of the people that preach, put the words back into the context in which it was written and it goes along way to protecting the health of a group of people that held the law as it was presented, but if you only dwell on these laws then you have missed the point of the bible. Believe what you want, just don't call me a moron.
add this one to the rest of the bleeding-obvious predictions, there are already defacto data only plans for those with G3-Wifi units and iPads. YAWN...
the US outsourced manufacturing to Asia and Asia returns the goods and the pollution that resulted from it's manufacturing. Nice to see that Canada and Mexico are not affected, else they would have got a mention in the original post.
I keep tech stuff well past it's use-by date. I am careful with what little I buy and I am mindful of many of the factors that go into a purchase. Manufacturing is only one part of the equation, cost of ownership is another, so all of my computers are low power machines, and as I keep them for many years, I know that there is a little less crap in the air because of my decision. In this case case, low power also means less materials, and in the end, less waste. I don't change mobile handsets when a contract runs out, I keep the old handset until it doesn't work any more. My printer is secondhand, which kept it off the rubbish heap. Yes, I think there is a level of comfort that I can live with. If you want discussion about low paid workers, check and see what the average Australian framer has to live on after being screwed by the rest of society.
instead of building cheap Macs, which was the point of the exercise, they built Macs that were targeted at the same Market as high-end Macs. Power Computing got some protection from Apple but as the license only covered MacOS 7, Apple simply produced MacOS 8. (MacOS beta 7.7 appeared and then we saw MacOS beta 8.0) IIRC
because once you receive the engine, you will not be able to use the Ford patented/licensed technology in an engine that you built and installed in your own car. Owning the engine is NOT owning the technology that is used in it.
I would be nice if the OP was objective about the situation. The issue is about who is doing the recording, and in this case it technically wasn't the user, it was found to be Optus. You can still record and view later on your own equipment, but the technical matter here is who is doing the recording, it is found to be Optus, not the user, so it may have been a bit grey but now a legal decision has been made. I don't have to agree, but that is the situation. As for 'big media' the same situation could apply to any event or broardcast.
I'm a gamer and gamification annoys me, mainly because I'll treat the task as a game and not a learning experience. BUT I can see it as a way to motivate others.
It doesn't matter, just use one of the free DVD players that several other people provide. DVD players came late to Windoze, so it's not surprising that it's gone. While it may be nice to have it included with the OS, the Operating System is just that, an operating system. We complained that we want to use something other than IE, and we got it, so expecting minor stuff like a DVD player from MS is silly. (oh shit, I'm an Apple fan-bouy defending MS)

Telepathy doesn't have radio emissions, that's why you can't 'see' any life in the Universe.
how do you know that they read number plates? may be your basic CCTV?

it was last wednesday, your memory of tuesday was implanted.

sorry, there are already data only plans for iPads, etc... AT&T is behind the ball.

This isn't the final Win8 GUI, so you have to wait.
reverse enginineering is permitted in many parts of the world, what you do with the information that you gain from that action is the matter at hand.
there is no news here, just some info about techicolor and ... um, just about nothing else.
a connection used to test chips before shipping? who would have thunk it!

more reason to loose interest in hobby computing. I would guess that my next computer may end up being a Wii.
So are we seeing more Woz articles because he is moving back into the computer limelight, or are we just using him to fill a gap in the news?

Some companies are always slow to change, and others keep their icon up-to-date.

we only have so few months before the end of the earth to study the new finds.
I've live too long to depend on anything that requires power. Facebook will be replaced by something else... who cares.
