Well if I had the choice to fly on a plane full of people with guns vs people who had been checked for bombs and guns randomly, then I would have to choose the latter. If everyone had a gun that just increases your chance that some idiot will fire their gun and inadvertently bring down the whole plane.

The last 2 jobs I've had have been this exact same situation. They people I've been working around are so inept as to not realize that I know wtf I'm doing and doing it better than they ever did. Then they report to the boss about my inept performance. Americans are really becoming incredibly stupid.

Yeah, as a woman I get discouraged all the time, "women aren't good at that", and I reply, "well, I am". It's not fun fighting stereotyping. That's why that Harvard President should shut the hell up. It's hard enough already for women in the Math and Sciences without people saying the stereotype belongs to ALL women.
They don't make any money, give me a break. Basing a business on just advertising is pretty difficult. I've seem some articles about spammers who claim to make a bunch of money and meanwhile they live in a trailerpark somewhere. Spammers just make money off the idiots who hire them to send out spam. They are just con artists.
I worked in tech support and with tech support and i can tell you that when i have to call india sure they can read a script. But when i call i'm not calling for the script, I'm calling for a real problem.
And even if Rashad in Indian has been trained to speak with a Texas accent he still can't understand English well enough to deviate from the script and doesn't understand what I am saying.

Oh puh-leeze can we disgard that computer geek stereotype now? Not all computer geeks are white men who don't bathe and live in their mom's basement. This post is like all those stupid women vs men jokes people send in email.
If it is the death of anyone it will more likely be from the fact that they are sitting on their behind all day instead of getting any sort of exercise.
Being detained for defaulting on debts already happens to some extent. Ever looked at the student loan laws lately? It would be safer to go to college on your Visa card. Because if you can't pay it back at least then you can declare bankruptcy and it will be over. But student loans never go away even in bankruptcy and they affect your life in some really really bad ways if they go into default. They can take your tax returns, steal money out of your bank, etc. etc.
So I don't think they are really loans they are more like loan sharks, if you don't pay it back they'll harrass you forever. Oh and don't tell me, oh you should pay it back but after being in the hospital for the last 5 years I can't. (I wasn't really but I was really broke).
Yeah I think the problem is that the public has no idea what goes into the jobs people do in the IT industry. Usually the boss is someone who also has no idea what is going on and they just think that an IT person can do anything related to the computer (just press a button to make it work!). In reality the job is composed of many jobs that should be broken up and specialized. This situation is what happens when people don't have unions or price fixing like the MD's have.
IT workers need their own AMA. When there was a lot of money to be made noone bothered to create any sort of union and now it's bad. It's going to stay that way too unless someone gets us all together and does something. If we were organized they never could have gotten away with outsourcing or the Visa's. Even Bill Gates couldn't effectively fight an organization like that.
I would say about 1% of my incoming email is not spam. I think it's time to go back to the drawing board for email. I don't know how it can be fixed but it really needs to be fixed because I don't even read my email anymore it is such a chore.

If you follow the money you may find there is no money in being an Engineer anymore and that is why people aren't interested.
