    This is a Microsoft sales exec we're talking about here. It is quite believable that such a person would write a letter like this.

    Actually BrianV is a Sr. VP in charge of the Windows Division. He isn't a sales exec but he does have a sales/marketing team report to him. He also has everyone who creates every produce that has the name Windows in it at Microsoft reporting to him.

    Unlike with a computer where you can release crap all day long without ever testing it.

    Computer equipment is designed for 12v DC power and the outlet in your wall is likely 120v AC (in NorthAmerica). Get a convertor. They are sold at places like Radio Shack.

    Or you could do the right thing and move the sofa. What you have done is a major fire hazard.

    WTF? Bloated? Sometimes you have to create complex code which requires a fast processor for some cool features. For example DVD Playback.

    Uh? So your saying stealing (only bad stealing) is when you take something and don't leave it for the person you took it from to use? To do that proper you would have to delete it off their hard drive? Sorry bud but you are STEALING their CD, Manual, Packaging that they paid for. On that CD is expensive to produce software. I have to make a living and I make it by producing software and then selling it at a price that people will pay. If I was to produce open source software it would because nobody will buy what I was producing.

    All of this talk about morals, morals and some more morals. What the bloody hell? I have morals and one of them is "(I) shall not steal". There is no qualifier about *why* I *can* steal or why I *can't* steal. I just will not steal. Opps..wait...maybe I just stole your time...oh well...

    The one that is coming to the market from several OEM's is called the TabletPC. It was designed by MS but produced by companies like Acer (there are 2 others I think but can't remember their name). Unfortunally for Transmeta....they are using the PIII M chips instead of the Crusoe. The Crusoe is just tooooo slow.

    Bad form I know...but I saw a previous post talk about firewalls and what not. This place by default will stick you behind a Unix based firewall (I believe Sun servers) but if you ask they will make you wide open. No cost. 1.5 down and 384 up cost $45 a month with $5 a month per static IP. They highly encourage home offices and people working from home VPNing to the mothership.

    Issaquah Highlands has fiber run throughout the entire neighborhood. There are apartments, condo's, townhomes and houses in that neighborhood. Used to live there...pretty much kicks ass.

    1. Notify about the update and then download it with your approval.

    2. Just download it and then tell you when it is downloaded so it will be installed

    3. Forget it...don't do anything.

    In the article they say "The Windows XP problems affect a little-used feature that eventually will allow consumers to control high-tech household appliances using their computers. Called "universal plug and play," the feature is activated by design in every copy of Windows XP and can be added manually to Microsoft's earlier Windows ME software, also used by millions of consumers worldwide."

    That is not true. On my clean install of WindowsXP Home the "Univerisal Plug and Play" option is not installed. They really need to check those facts first.

    The point is at a school there may be only one server. Ok so that is one system they don't have to think about. Now think about the 30-60 workstations they have to think about? Man when I was in school we had Mac Classics and IBM PS/2 model 30 (the model could be wrong). The Mac's barely worked due to our..umm...fun with them and the IBM's were a joke (novel 2.1 wasn't secure at all). So why did these systems ever get fixed? Well it was because us students too the time to undo what we did to them when we were done. If we didn't..they wouldn't have been fixed until next year.

    Redmond is NOT a suburb of Seattle. It is it's own city FAR away from Seatttle. If anything Redmond is a suburb of Bellevue but of course...nobody not from this area knows this.

    Course I live in Redmond so I love my city.

    In SQL2000 you have to specifically check a box and hit ok to do a blank SA password. By default it uses Windows Authentication.

    No because now you have just setup a perfect way to introduce security problems and NOBODY can do anything about it without breaking the specification. You see the problem could be how two components communicate between each other. That could be hole and nobody can do anything to fix it without potentially removing compability.

    Mhy only question is are you ready to be self employed and contract based. If you do the 1st option that can terminate your contract for any reason that they feel sought and have no legal responsablity. If you go the thrid route and they fire you, well you can sue them if it was wrongful discharge.

    Reflective display's are really hard to use in anything but direct bright light (such as the sun). Too bad we can't get the best of both worlds (active and reflective).

    Do you honestly think you have enough time and know how to figure out a corruption issue by staring at the source? This sorts of stuff sometimes takes weeks for the people who actually wrote the code. For you who doesn't know anything about the code it will take you months. All that time you have fucked up email. Might as well clean install and restore your exchange store from backup.
