It is more akin to pepsi signing a contract with Taco that they can only distribute pepsi, no coke; perfectly legal. The ONLY reason its a problem with Microsoft is because they are a monopoly.
Hey fucktard, do you know how much money it would take to change every road sign into metric? How about the fact that the federal gov. doesn't control every local government which may have a road sign. Would we really want the federal government playing the thought police: forcefully changing the system of measurement in use by local governments? FUCK NO. FUCK YOU.
You obviously aren't a gamer and therefore in this case CANNOT read in context. Go back and read the parent again with the knowledge that in baldur's gate both Black Isle and Bioware had their logos on the opening splash screens.
You are missing something. "Apparently, having a better user experience is going to lessen Kazaa's value in people's minds." thats completely true. Kazaa's customers are NOT the users of its software, their customers are the people who pay them to include spyware in the product. If people are removing the spyware than Kazaa's image IS hurt, at least the image that the spyware people are seeing.
Nice reply, you still didn't answer him, and you only responded to one little point without answering the bulk of his rebuttals. "In any case what makes this not a "real" firewall?"
Its different because this is LAW. Movies etc just have self imposed rating unless you are talking about porn. Note that this law doesn't do anything about pornographic video games, its just getting a rating system into law which is a HORRIBLE thing.
if this was self imposed like the movies you speak of. Instead this is a law restrict kids from buying certain games the gov. deems unworthy of them. You cite an example of the movies.. the rating system is completely self imposed so it has NO RELEVANCE to this except that it is how video games should be handled.
If the entire world did live in Texas the population density would be less than that of Tokyo. I'm not going to do the math as I've done it before but you can feel free to.
It is explained in detail. Modems with class III leds do not actually just turn on when activity is present and off when its not. They turn on when 1's pass through so they are actually blinking so fast that you cannot see them as anything but on when data is passing. It is much cheaper to manufacture this way (read the fucking article) and therefore many devices use this method of status indication through leds.
I beleive you missed the point: Of course thats the point the lawyers are trying to make, they are using a rhetorical question/reductio at absurdum to make the judges see that they are no different from the ISPs. The quote in the article was implying "legal types" to be exclusivly judges who have in the past (napster) decided on the prosecution's side. The legal types you are talking about(plaintive's lawyers) of course see the point and thats why they are doing this.
You aren't completly wrong.. You are thinking of overclocking where you raise the voltage and get more hertz as a result. When a new chip is introduced however it is made on a smaller process, while the chip often ends up being the same size it also uses the same ammount of power and is faster. With this new chip you could run it at a lower voltage and then acheive the same speed as the old chip at lower power levels. So obviously they aren't just taking current chips and overclocking them to 110ghz as that would take a shitload ofpower and give off a shitload of heat.
Have a look at the SUSE linux kernel compilations with dual athlons here. As everyone with dual processors knows, compiling kernels is one of the main advantages of having dual CPUs. In this test however the athlon dual boards got worse scores than their single processor counterparts. If they had just run make with the "-j 2" option they would likely have gotten around 80% faster than than the single processor boards.
if its no long er on their cups then its not in use anymore and thus they no longer own it. And I don't beleive they owned a trademark on the word smile, just the stylized(sp) way it was on their cups, I beleive it had a little smiley mouth under it which was part of the TM.
Just because the federal register is a print medium does not mean that everyone in the united states has the opportunity to own a copy. In order to view it you typically have to goto a library that recieves it. Likewise if it is published electronically you can goto a library and use their computers(bullshit "child protection" filters not considered)
The reason no one has said it is because the ORIGINAL post said it you dumbfuck. "But, oops, no one would notice between a crashing windows and regular windows:)"
Would it be illegal for them to sign a contract saying they would only serve pepsi in exchange for pepsi at a reduced price? No.
Opps. "Taco" should read "Taco Bell." Please don't mistake "Taco" for Cmdr Taco.. my analogy would fall apart at the seams... or would it?...

Aren't you being a little bit hypocritical? Why don't YOU write it.
No 350 pound person can run run at 17mph you stupid fucktard. Most people that size can't run at all.

seeing as south korea is one worst in terms of software pirating your point is pretty moot.

Great news, congrats to everyone involved. Microsoft is not getting off that easily.
I guess you could say it was PLEASED to meet you! Get it? PLEASED!!!

I would think that overturning the DMCA would get them quite bit of fame, correct me if I'm wrong.

The whole email blacklist thing could become a huge problem if not kept in check.

for stating the obvious.
