Assuming they are launched from a ship, they could simply launch a missile to that target, no?
Well for larger targets (i.e. buildings) but for smaller mobile targets or tent camps targeting needs to be WYSIWYG and obsticles that can only be avoided from certain line of sight. A million dollar missile could aquire it but, Hellfires are dirt cheap by price-per-kill comparison.
About a year and a half ago I moved from Memphis, TN to San Francisco. If you want a tech job, go to the tech centers of this country. If you're hiding out in TN or NB chance are you may find a job but it will be boring, if you're a real professional you will find a job in a real city. If you're willing to work your ass off, no games here but its great work, something you can be proud of.
Instead of carrying a phone and a laptop (walking while using a laptop, I don't think so) The Ipaq to be released in Oct. will have an active matrix 65K color screen and a wireless package that supports both BT and 802.11b will be released later in Dec. I have the Ipaq H3670 with a 802.11 card in the expansion pack already. Much lighter than a laptop and you can see the screen in bright light, without the 3G infrastructure.
You'll see banner ads for the new Online Indian Casinos..But really that's quite a task considering some reservations are the size of RI. My question is do the network cards in the computers or devices need to be attached to an external antenna as well? I gained another 1000ft when I attached a standard CB antenna to my access point. I could get Internet access from my apartment across the highway from work. What are some other (cheap) way's to improve distance? Maybe I could get a Seti tower..hmmm
The article says, "You can see the evidence on Cartoon Network's Listings". There is not a press release saying it's a response to Tuesday's Attacks. I have really never been impressed with the decisions of the network anyway and how they decide on what should be shown and when. A lot of networks display sympathy messages in one form or another, but don't assume everyone will. But you still should check out all 4 daft punk videos on www.toonami.com click on the alliance button (requires flash and MP7)
Of staying up all night and skipping the shower before school. The original kept me away from social gatherings, but now there is no excuse. Hook up the catheter and bring me my cooler, I'm going in! But only if it lives up the crack cocaine level of addiction of its predecessor
Most local cable compaines have a channel that displays (in 16 colors) local information: time, garbage pickup, things of that nature along with some really bad music. When I saw it yesterday I saw the "desktop" of Commodore 64 with the Flash Rom and Ram Disk icons and all. Of course it was displaing the current date as 1948, but It still brought back a few memories.
I also think that the tactile response is as important visual feedback. What about hacking up an old vibrating pager or cell phone battery, attach it to the back of the screen, so when a "key" is pressed there is a very short but instant response in the form of a vibration.
Unlike anothor space angency, They did it right by getting it to work well on a small scale first. Thier bigger challengs will be fuel storage and balance weight distribution during fuel consumpution(since its not spinning? or performing a roll manuever) . Its nice to see them use an aleady successful ship design instead of tring to reinvent the wheel with a unproven exotic piece of garbage.
Ye olde discussions with older programmer types have always included bidding their favorite FileManger vs. some other FileManger that never really made it. I just seems like once the GUI browsers came out that file mangers became slower and more wasteful of system resources. The worst offenders are obivous in M$, but who is out there doing it right? I kinda like MidnightCommander that comes with RedHat.
I was guesstimating, but I have sinced moved, and als no longer work with web servers. Just in case you actually do read this, It was hardly in a controled enviroment (Frat house closet) and since it was an non-profit website, 97% was acceptable.
Rather than using software to convert, if you have a good sound card, hook a male-male cable from the speakers to the mic jack and record. Instant wav file. Then you may edit at will. As far as software goes since real media is made for streaming and is not standard I imagine its a feature of a RA suite that cost a mint.
My company has been notified by the BSA or else. I ordered to do an internal audit of a small office and correct all violantions before the BSA ground troops begin their assualt. So after uninstalling pirated or unlicensed software(apparently someone got install happy with MS office). We actually had about 10 more license for OS'es than we needed. But then I noticed all the Dibert, Farside and various other abuses of the copy machine plastered in cubicles. What about all those mp3 CDs laying around. I began to panic, Between MS, united comics, RIAA, and the copyright office, we could technically be sued by just about anyone who wanted too. So to protect us I burned the office to the ground, erased all employess, and triggered the doomsday device.....feeling much better knowing that we can't be sued for Licence Disputes. I hope I'll get a raise.
I kinda sad to see SGI starting to turn out the lights. I have an old Indy system that still kicks ass, got the kwel little camara and a built in ISDN modem. Its been serving up webpages for 6 years with about 97% uptime!
NOVEMBER 1996: Russian Mars '96 space vehicle disintegrates over Chile and Bolivia, likely spreading its payload of nearly half a pound of plutonium. Searchers found no remains of the spacecraft which was believed to have burned up. Eyewitnesses saw the flaming reentry over the mountains in the region.
FEBRUARY 1983: Soviet Cosmos 1402 crashes into South Atlantic ocean carrying 68 pounds of Uranium-235.
JANUARY 1978: Cosmos 954 blows up over Canada with 68 pounds of Uranium-235 and other nuclear poisons, much of which is thought to have vaporized and spread worldwide.
APRIL 1973: Soviet Rorsat lands in the Pacific Ocean north of Japan. Radiation released from the reactor was detected.
APRIL 1970: Apollo 13 lands near New Zealand with the 8.3 pounds of Plutonium-238 believed to be still in the spacecraft at the bottom of the ocean floor.
1969: Two Cosmos lunar missions fail. Radiation detected as crafts burn up in the atmosphere.
MAY 1968: U.S. Nimbus B-1 lands in the Santa Barbara channel off California with 4.2 pounds of Uranium-238 but was recovered by NASA.
APRIL 1964: U.S. Transit 5BN-3 hits the Indian Ocean with its 2.1 pounds of Plutonium-238 vaporizing in the atmosphere and spreading worldwide.
There is a fear of creating an uranium economy, because spent fuel is hazard for 19,000 years or so. Nasa has been launching nuclear power supplies in orbit for a long time, but in much smaller quanties. But there have been very few disasters with the NASA logo, but it only takes one and they blew that in the 80's a couple of times. There is just to much liability for the general public to accept nuclear powered vechicals.
When teaching us logs in HS, My Math TeacherAir Force Flight Engineer had constructed a gaint slide rule and mounted on the wall where he would show the "real" way to do it. Just about cut of his thumb a few times though. I later used a slide rule when taking the math portions of the SAT (didn't help much, very simple).
Absoulutly, but when saving the world the world from starvation why not get the latest and greatest. Each day that you buy the same computer the price will go down. It will take more than a few years to distribute a couple billion laptops and build a supporting infastructure. Why not use the best you can get today.
The problem with the one solution for all mankind bs that was being spewed out in the article was from a gov't organization of some type that will effectivily and quickly spend money, thats it. I'm not being cynacial here, but Take 2 fully loaded, wireless, self-powered computers into Mexico to a local farm and then based on research decided the stragey for to deleiver important/relevent information. My guess is that most research on farming methods and the like can be delivered via CD. I mean come on just try on a small scale to see what works, instead of "The Day the Earth Stood Still" method helping mankind.
Yeah like 2 years ago, The highest skilled techies in the US where sleeping in a high school gym during the dot-com crap. I shared a space with a 36 yr old Phd from Northwestern who only made 60K and couldn't find a place to stay. Good ol days right. Damn glad they are over, Have a good time in Germany (lucky bastard)
With this whole broken link flame on Hemos and the nature of the article was kinda funny but the this quote was at the bottom "You are an insult to my intelligence! I demand that you log off immediately. " Um, I think we hurt the OSDN server's feelings. With people beating their computers and treating them like trash we need to become more sensative to their feelings.....Wait, If you thought this was silly of just stupid so is spending time to humanize a fucking computer program/system/whatever with a personality test.
It would be difficult for me to accept this as a solution to the upcoming limits of ATA hard drives. what kind of transfer rate can you get off an ATA drive! If I'm going to need a 100TB hard drive it isn't going to be from my mp3 collection. Its going to be massive data files for rendering and databases. I know this is a little offtopic but shouldn't ReadWrite mass storage move away from simple linear devices before we have 1TB capacity?(Not to the certain loss of life span on a mechanical drive spinning at 50K rpms)
If it is annoying, then shell out the few bucks to support the site.

to accept an Emmy, weld it into an obscene gesture, and spray the audience with oil. For an old A-team addict, the show is my crack cocaine.
