Damn. Then I might have to rework my PhD thesis. It was on the phrenological origins of the business cycle. Maybe it will help if I put some stuff in there about gluons, strange quarks, or quantum entanglement.
Your idea of predictable, naturally-explainable weather patterns is just a theory. In Kansas, we teach that tornadoes are caused by an intelligent designer. This designer would never send His tornadoes to spread disease amongst His people without a good reason. It is our faith in Him that allows us to relocate this dangerous facility without fear. In fact, it is better to get this building as far away from the godless sodomites in NYC as possible. His will be done, amen. </caricature>

Behind every WTF moment is something that seemed like a perfectly reasonable idea at the time.
I've been using 10.0 since about the 8th and I've got to say it's pretty nice.
Easy, Quick install Nice auto-update features Pretty console Easy to configure firewall Not too hard to figure out where they hid the config files
The problems I've had so far:
A crippled libxine is used EVERYWHERE. I've tried pakman's and super's xine but still can't get all the media to play that I could with Gentoo. The last two security patches (firefox and snmpd) have broken their respective programs.
This is my first Suse. I've been running Gentoo for the past 3 years(compiling everything gets way old). I think I'll keep it for a while. Hopefully Novell doesn't let it go to waste.
It's designed to be marketed by service providers as a sort of "set top box". What I see is the consumer getting it for "free". Then, the ISP makes money on the monthly charges for services. (windows updates, video emails, whatever else they want to charge you for).
Anyone get Kopete to work with this thing? No luck here. I've tried different combos of un/encryption settings and different permutations of usernames.
They're going to screw around and screw around and, this time next year, holographic storage will beat them to the punch with a much greater storage capacity.
I think all this argument is probably moot in that most GPL font developers aren't going to go after all the people who create documents using their font.
Having said that, if the language of the GPL requires documents using GPL'ed fonts to be GPL'ed themselves, maybe the GPL isn't compatible with something like a font.
Yes, but how many games run SetUID root in OSX? (don't have a clue, just wondering)
Games like Abuse do this in Linux and it's always getting new exploits. How many game developers are dedicated to tightening down the security of their code?
Just after reading about EDS bashing Linux, I read this article. about the myriad of glitches in EDS's software for the Colorado welfare office that is going to cost millions to fix.
Now, they do say that colorado pushed the go live faster than was recommended, but the point is that EDS might not be the one to talk about stability and flexibility.
Still putting icons on the desktop? That's one of my favorite things about most Linux desktop launchers is I can categorize stuff into seperate launch menus a-la CDE. I never have to put anything on the desktop except maybe some desklets or something.

yeah, but if you emerge it now, you'll be sorry as the -r1 ebuild will probably come out in a couple days so you'll have to rebuild the bastard.
And in open source projects all the bugs are already fixed in Subversion!

You'll win Nobel prizes in economics and physics simultaneously with that right there.
I'm going to go start making more people. You get to work on building that box.
I hope they'll patch these machines. Otherwise, how long will it be before the bot wrangler just takes his net back?
Better yet, just wipe the hard drives. The users might think harder about security if something other than their net connection gets abused.

I guess I had to tick both allow plain-text and use ssl.
Working on kde 3.4.1 kopete 0.10.2.
Now, if only the voice feature worked in something besides their Windows-only client.

Anyone else?
There's no cows on mars! Of course there are quite a few bugalo!
As far as just about every PC user is concerned.
Is the Win64 better than the N64? It better be, because N64's graphics just can't compete with today's gaming consoles.

Or, how about using the 10 hours saved from playing ${latest_game} to do something productive for society?
I know, I don't have that kind of willpower either.

Of course it's running fine. After I root a box I always make sure I keep the patches up to date. Daddy has to keep his hoes clean you know!
Ofcourse with the next gen "Trustworthy" computers, this won't be an issue. Yay! Can't wait.
Now, I'm no expert, but I'd bet you could do everything and more on Google Suggest/Maps with an Active X control.
I use Firefox myself, but I just wanted to bring this back to the real world.
