Yes, The Daily Show also has Indecision 02. Considering that Slashdot is such a stickler for people licensing under the GPL but not following all its rules, you'd think that they would not use a registered trademark (or if its not registered, at least be original).
Last time I checked, a human heart was not what set human's apart from other animals. The fact that a pig has a human heart doesn't make him smarter. How could this make him a 'super pig.' Unless you think the heart is actually where emotions start, in which case the pig with the human heart would probably start killing other pigs...
Pigs are dirty? Last time I checked, the fact that I am muddy doesn't make my heart muddy
Is this good for Africa? Ok, so I saw the argument that doctors could send for a diagnoses, etc. Ok, sounds good.... But, why do we feel that we must westernize everyone? I visited Malawi (SE Africa) this summer and they have signs that say "24 hours" at the gas station, yet they are definetely not open all day/night. When I asked the attendant why they weren't open at midnight the night before when they had this sign and he replied "not in a row." My point is this... Africans do things just because they think that by doing this they will become rich like the white people... they don't really understand things.
Why must we feel that our form of progress is the ultimate form of progress? I mean, look at us. We spend too much time eating and behind the TV... We can't survive without broadband... etc. Well, enough of my rant
The FCC is considering laws to not allow laptops on planes anymore because of ultra wide band interfering considerably with the GPS systems that are on planes. This will be a huge problem, since so many people these days get a considerable amount of their business done on laptops while on planes.

umm, they do for all of the APs, but, they grade the Comp Sci exam on a "do this, get a point" basis, rather than taking away... so, I foudn that you can write perfectly good code, but, not get all the points because you didn't do one thing that they thought you should've. Oh well. I'll get my grades in July, and we'll see.
I know, for me at least, if something asks for an e-mail address, I usually fill it in with asdf@asdf.com By the way, if you haven't already done so, check out asdf.com... its one of the weirdest sites i've seen. very interesting
You say "This is just the beginning. We need to be able to, on a whim, terminate your access to a game you rightfully bought. We are testing this scheme under the guise of a "time limited beta test". If we let others run servers, they could play the game they paid for whenever they want! "
But you forget... Warcraft III is a free beta, therefore, if they cut off my ability to run the beta then I would have to buy the game. They're not finding your Starcraft cd-key and cutting it off. Stop your complaining
The faq on their former page said that it was needed because battle.net was down, slow, hard to find friends, etc, yet, they must have never actually played on battle.net! Before I got dsl, i used to play games of Starcraft on there without any lag with 3 other modemers. Now, I hardly experience any lag. As for it being hard to find friends, all you have to do is tell them "meet in chatroom BLANK" and then all you're friends are there, you can make a game taht has a password, and wha-la, you're playin with friends. I think the slashdot crowd as a whole over-reacts to this. Bnetd is shut down? Just get on Battle.net! Also, as an afterthought, Blizzard checks cd-keys upon connecting you to battle.net, so as to make sure two people with the same cd-keys aren't on, decreasing the ability to pirate the game, so, since bnetd doesn't check multiple cd-keys, then it is possible for a group of friends to be playing an online game with the same cd key, which, to me, sounds like a copyright problem. Oh well. Mention someone using DMCA, and/. will immediately say its an uncalled for attack. What can ya do...

yea, but, once again, Tom's had the article on this out 2 weeks ago, so, therefore, tom's IS still the best.

I've used shorten for online trading of Widespread Panic and other live bands, and it is by far the codec of choice for me. When used together with md5 checksums, it is definetely the best lossless codec out there. You can download shnAMP plugin for winamp or a similar program for Linux, which will play shns and, if shnV3 is used to encode, you will be able to seek the shns. Etree has all the programs that you need to listen, encode, and decode shns. The program written by Michael Weise (mkwACT and also found on Etree) also makes it very easy to convert to shn and a variety of other codecs.
Go to circuitcity.com and get yourself a few 100 gig hard drive for $120 each (after rebate). Get 2 or 3(you may have to use friends since the rebate is only good for one per household) and then make a RAID configuration with one of them, mirroring your data, then get a firewire kit for the other drive, and plug it into firewire and backup onto it. This way the firewire HDD is not getting its power from the same source, and has a less likely chance of getting fried if your other drives do.
Of course, you could just save a ton of money and use the old "cross my fingers" trick and spend the money on a keg of miller lite, but, hey, its your money.
I've seen firewire kits on the market, and I have heard they work pretty well. This way, you can buy a cheap firewire PCI card, then buy a good, large IDE drive and a firewire kit, and then you have a much cheaper firewire drive with much more storage capabilities. These kits are pretty inexpensive and all you have to do is hook them up, plug in the adapter, and you're up.
There's a little difference there. Call me a troll but I have a point.

Toms posted an article a few weeks ago comparing the same. Pretty interesting article. BTW, the Celeron is at 1.3 GHz. Check it out.
