I checking out the Apple booth at MWNY '02 when this teenager walked up to the Apple rep and asked where the new G5s were. He said that he read on the Internet that they had been released. The Apple rep was like, "Um, no. We didn't announce anything that even sounds like G5." The kid was adamant that they had been released. Shows you what people will believe.
Rehnquist, William H. - Nixon January 7, 1972 Stevens, John Paul - Ford December 19, 1975 O'Connor, Sandra Day - Reagan September 25, 1981 Scalia, Antonin - Reagan September 26, 1986 Kennedy, Anthony M. - Reagan February 18, 1988 Souter, David H. - Bush October 9, 1990 Thomas, Clarence - Bush October 23, 1991 Ginsburg, Ruth Bader - Clinton August 10, 1993 Breyer, Stephen G. - Clinton August 3, 1994
So, I see 1 Nixon, 1 Ford, 3 Reagans, 2 Bushes, and 2 Clintons.
Yes there is. You cannot hire an H1B holder if it displaces a US Citizen or US Resident Alien. Also, you cannot categorically pay H1B employees less than US workers.
Yes, most of them are from IIT, but it doesn't matter what their grades are. Would you hire a B+ Engineering Student from UMASS over the B student from MIT or CalTech based on grades?
Let's assume for a second that all of the kids being solicited are under the age of 18. Would these "SPAM" contracts be binding?
There was a case here in MA where Fleet sent one of those "instant $10,000 loans" to a 14 year-old. He signed it and put it in his bank account. Since the kid was 18yo, Fleet couldn't get it's money back and the kid got a $10k grant from fleet. Sorry for being short on details, but it's early. It had something to do with age requirements for binding contracts.
I'm sorry, but that sounds like bullshit. We have around 500 laptops at our company with 400 of them being at least 2 years old. We've only replaced about 10 batteries due to "deadness" in the past year. Those 10 were for IBM 600 series laptops that are at least 2.5 years old.
Sometimes techs give answers just to make you go away.
What does it matter that Tufts is 151 years old? Would this be different if it were 310-year-old College of William and Mary in Virginia or 210-year-old Williams College in Williamstown, MA?
I saw a show on TLC or Discovery about 6 months ago about a project in Southern California that was taking treated water that would normally go into the Pacific and re-distributing it to homes on a second water main. Water coming off of this "second main" would be used for toilets and outdoor spigots. While this water was just as clean (if not cleaner) than the water coming in on the primary main, people couldn't get over the idea that the water was once (recently) in someone's toilet.
The Apple sharing functionality won't let you copy the songs down from the host -- just stream them. iCommune let users copy the songs as well as stream them. Remember, according to Jobs, Music Piracy is a Social Problem. I'm sure the contract violation had something to do with the copying of music. Apple doesn't want the RIAA attacking them for the transgressions of their licensed devlopers. Therefore, Apple has language in its license that somehow prohibits what iCommune was doing.
As stated in my comment which you replied to, I was called for, and attended jury duty this past November in Salem, MA. So, no, I don't read the 9th Circuit because I live in the district, I read them because they tend to be entertaining when compared to the rulings of the 4th Circuit--pretty dry and boring if you ask me.
Winona had some hollywood exec on the jury that convicted her. So you're probably right, lawyers don't want logically thinking people on juries (cf OJ Simpson Jury).
I was called for Jury Duty for the first time in my life (I'm 30) back in November. I went to the court (Salem, MA), sat in a room, and was let go along with the other 100 people called as all of the cases for that day settled before going to trial. (1 Day 1 Trial System)
I would actually like to get called again and SERVE on a jury. In fact, serving on a grand jury would be fun.
IANAL, however I do like reading decisions from the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.

Pretty good collection. Poor bastard won't know what hit him.

There's a full-time desal plant on St. Croix, USVI. I guess they meant the 50 states and not the United States and All of its territories.

You fogot to mention that Germany started two of those three wars and lost them to boot. Was Germany truly democratic under the rule of Adolph?
ummm...

They are Lithium Ion batteries, not the evil Ni batteries that suffered from amnesia (or whatever it was called, the memory effect?).
Still, I believe that the tech was exagerating.

I didn't go to Harvard. I was giving a specific example of an institution that required you to register you MAC address. No less, no more.
Harvard requires you to register your MAC address.
If you buy the Stop & Shop variety, that's closer to 80 boxes of Mac and Cheese!

I have no idea how to do it on Linux, I'm using MacOS X. (Option-u, u)

It's Überdorks. Can't figure out how to do umlauts on you Linux box?
That ^H^H^H construct has been around at least as long as, well, computers. I remember back in '82 with the PDP1170 running RSTS/e...

Parts of Maine still had 4-digit dialing up until about two years ago.
I remember being able to 7-digit dial between the 609 area code (Trenton, NJ) and the 215 area code (Yardley, PA). Those were the days...
Now I am stuck in the 781/339 zone with the 978/xxx zone 500 yards away in Salem, MA.

Isn't Oracle already mentioned on F*ckedCompany.com quite a bit?
The cost of 6-PIN to 6-PIN Firewire cables would break any school's budget.
