  1. The Great Wall of Trump on Should America Build a Virtual Border Wall? Or Just Crowdfund It... (chicagotribune.com) · · Score: 1

Some 800 years ago the Han Chinese built the Great Wall of China to keep out Genghis Khan and the Mongols. It was a thunderous failure--the Mongols simply rode their horses around it. The Great Wall of Trump will be equally ineffective.

  2. I have had experience with cable and two satellite TV services. There are pros and cons to both. A> Cable provided me with the best and most reliable signal, but our friends at Comcast kept increasing the monthly fee. So, I dropped them in favor of-- B> Satellite TV. DishNetwork and DirecTV are very nice, but their ads don't tell you that the signal craps out during snow, rain--even drizzle and fog. The alternative is to 'cut the cable.' Sadly, digital broadcast TV makes that difficult without a rotatable rooftop antenna. Back in the good old days of analog TV, you might get a little snow on some channels, but usually got through. Modern digital TV and 'rabbit ears'? You get tearing, blanking and audio distortion. Oh well, maybe I can scrounge up a used 10-foot dish.

The success of the Nigerian Scam is a testament to the stupidity of the average user. Anybody who would actually send money to a self-claimed royal personage in a random email deserves to get clipped, IMHO! It obviously doesn't take a genius to set up a free email account. . .

I have been a television view, radio listener and newspaper/magazine reader for more than 60 years, and a Internet user since before the World Wide Web existed. Hell yes--I use AdBlock+ on Firefox, and I will continue to do so! The advertising industry is second only to politics as a corrupting industry; they try to con people into buying things they don't want with money they don't have. To hell with advertising!

  14. AdBlock+ There is NO ACCEPTABLE LEVEL of ADS on Adblock Plus Maker Seeks Deal With Ad Industry Players (yahoo.com) · · Score: 1

There is, as I wrote above, no acceptable level of advertising on the Web. If the developers of AdBlock+ allow any advertising past their blocker, I will be forced to find another solution for my browsers. I have been a TV viewer for 60 plus years. Now, the LA Times states that, "In 2009, the broadcast networks averaged 13 minutes and 25 seconds of commercial time per hour. In 2013, that figure grew to 14 minutes and 15 seconds. The growth has been even more significant on cable television. In 2009, cable networks averaged 14 minutes and 27 seconds per hour" Using these statistics, I have been force-fed more than 8.6 MILLION minutes of commercial advertising. Now the AdBlock+ developers want to weaken their addon by allowing some ads through? I will have to find another solution if they do!
