The real problem with incorrect reporting times is when you have a very large number of 10-100kB files to transfer. Windows spends a very long time starting up the transfer of a new file, and that is where I have seen the greatest slowdown and most inaccurate time estimates.
Windows 7 performs better with smaller files, and provides a transfer rate indicator, but everyone already knows this.
What does this even mean? Apple wouldn't use their total control over their devices to remove malware from them? Of course they would, and they should!
Those game demos looked a lot like the standard implementation of OpenCV. It's too bad there isn't any security on this technology as merely showing a picture of the person to the camera defeats it.
What will Network Admins 20 years from now dig up and laugh about if we remove all the outdated cabling.
You ever find something really really old and put it to use as a joke? I found an old 16 port lantronix (LTR16T) 10-baseT hub that went for 849 dollars when it was new sitting the bottom of an old storage unit at work.
when you can use drugs? If you just give little Jonny some Ritalin you can lock in him the closet, and he won't be stopping the parents from watching Survivor by using his gaming console.
If it kept me from permanently recieving the job (ie. even after the whole mess was cleared up, someone had been hired in my place), I would sue the company performing the background check for punitive damages.
If not, I'm sure you can take it to court and get yourself reinstated.
I once applied for a job, and had to take a drug test. There was an error, and when I explained to them that I was very seriously not on drugs, they held the position till there was a retest. If they are professional, and know that mistakes can be made they will hold the position for you.

A creative coding suite... I hope the SS doesn't impede my C++ art.
Time to treat it as such.
Now I know exactly how I am going to find out about the world coming to an end.
Gbit or GB?
Processing is a set of libraries that I think use Java to do "creative coding"
lots of generative art is made with "Processing"
I do a lot of work with openframeworks, which was also used along with cinder and houdini.

The next time Microsoft releases a patch for a security vulnerability I would like to see this sentiment repeated.
I have moved into a flash free existence and all of my devices are better off. My electricity bill was less.
This is a silly "either or" fallacy, both could be done.
The merits of this study let us know the scope, and exactly where the problem lies. Only then can we really begin to fix it.
Yeah, I'm really glad there were never any known bluetooth hacks. That was a really secure protocol.
...but I kind of do now.
ambidexterity?

Since when has Maxtor been fit for normal PC's? This would only make Maxtors on par with "real" HardDrives (WD, IBM...)
The funniest thing is, the light that we are seeing is SO old that those galaxies may not exist anymore...
We all know the root of the problem is that damn IPv4 and TCP/IP.
I say Metallica sue Universities that use IPv4 and TCP/IP.
I wouldn't hang out with a guy I knew when he was on Ritalin. He just wasn't the same. It was like it forced him to be oversensitive about everything.
I wonder how a RTS game would have helped him.

Voodoo 1 = Revolutionary technology
Voodoo 2 = 2 Voodoo 1's
Voodoo 3 = Newer design, more memory, AGP
Voodoo 5 = 2 Voodoo 3's, MORE VRAM THAN YOUR SDRAM

All I want in a processor is 512k of integrated L2 cache that runs at full clockspeed, and a 200mhz bus. Is that too much?

What about an expansion for Daikatana that is downloadable for free. It creates a dimensional rift that gives gamers their money back.
