I for one would love bluetooth to head phones, now I don't know if bluetooth has the bandwidth to support the quality of audio. But it would be a cool!
you can buy a SSN, complete with card and everything in downtown Santa Ana. They don't even hide it at all. By the time it's found out false, they can have another one -- but the false cards are often legitimate otherwise, so it's difficult to tell (and the employers, ahem, don't check very hard).
That is why the IRS is looking into ways to quickly verify a person's SSN. And States are passing laws, like California state law now says Social Security numbers may not be openly displayed on things such as health forms, bank account records, or forms sent in the mail.
NPR just recently had a story about how this problem with the SSN numbers has a new twist with respect to National Security.
I left California in 1995; after being born and raised there. I miss it at times, but not at the moment... Proposition 187 was supposed to "fix" all of this; it was passed right as I left the state, but it looks as though it didn't do much.
The law was struck down by a federal court as un-Constitutional.
I agree that once we know what the code is it will be taken out, however I am not sure it will be easily replace. And then functionality will be lost:(
I would assume that you did not watch the 21min interview with McBride. He put the problems into three buckets, first was the line by line infringements, then there was the derived works problems and then finally the "re-implementation" of System V ideas. He concentrated on the first two since the last one would be the hardest to prove.
He talked a lot about the SMP code in the 2.4 kernel, a lot. And basically said that if we went after the smaller guys, IE "Red Hat" it would shutdown Linux all together. Which would have the effect of killing most of that OS sector and any chance of them collecting any money if they win.
Also it sounds like they will be making more of there case known in mid-August
Ok I havn't read the story, yet but one quesion comes to mind. How do they handle double sided printing? And if they can't, more the reason to print double sided, besides saving paper.
Large ships have differential GPS units where the harbor masters broad cast a error correcting signal which gives the ships very good accuracy. This is the same technique used by surveyors.
I know it some people might see this as EVIL, but if I could get that kind of service along with all the other.Mac stuff. That might push me over the edge and get that.Mac account. I know that the last I wanted to create a CD for my son of his favorite songs I had a hard time finding any service that would sell me just the songs. I ended up buy a few CD for just one song here and one song there. And recording a few off the raido and moving them to my iBook to burn the CD. It was non-trivial task.
Yes it would be nice but if you Comand/{Apple key}- click the browser will have a floating window which then you can see where the link goes to. I also took this to the location bar and it went right to the link. It was very cool.
I also wish they had included tabs, I just started to use them in Mozilla and love them.
Besides, these tools already exist on other platforms, so it's not like the blackhats suddenly have something they didn't have before to make our lives miserable.
Now they can do it with style. The TiBooks are very C00L;)
Automounter is your friend. I have done this at work we Netapps serving up our home directories and I have pushed out automount maps to all of the Macs running 10. Cfengine is good to do this with. I have also created a few perl scripts to sinc our Unix password file with our NetInfo server. And so we have just one password for our Mac 10 machines and our Unix machines.
Now I did have to modify some of the start up scripts, but nothing any Unix sysadmin would be uncomfortable with.

From the pictures I see finger prints all over the screen. I don't know if you can see them when you are using the tablet. But that is one thing I can't stand is finger prints on a screen that I am trying to read from.
So I would need a screen that would not pick up the finger prints as easily.
Not so much on the Judges ruling but this week on the show "On The Media" had two stories about TiVo and a follow up on product placement because of TiVo.
Which talkes about TiVo, and then in intresting fact, it seems that someone was reporting that the BBC had down loaded a show or two to all TiVo machines that could not be deleted, had to wait one week before it was removed. Thus hoping I guess for people to watch it. ( Could be full of add:)
And http://www.wnyc.org/onthemedia/transcripts_060102_ product.html another story:
On what the advertisers are doing to get their products in front of people's eyes.
Maybe I am wrong but I don't think you can pull power from the USB port. Only firewire will supply power or enough for a harddrive.

So how long do we give the Feds to come in and determine that it is in National Security interests to confiscate the hole thing.

What you said is true, but you have not added any software with your system. Which would increase the price.
:)
Also your machine wouldn't look cooler then the imac.
But then not everyone has style
