Apple should make their products repairable, provide replacement parts, publish maintenance manuals, and stop releasing new models every year. That would do way more for the environment and drastically lower carbon footprint and e-waste than a billion dollar PR stunt does.
Democrats at least get that done...Republicans can't agree on anything in their utterly dysfunctional state. The Republicans have the majority in House and Senate plus the White House. If things do not get done there is really only one group to blame. Take a guess who that is!
To this day Trump still has to hire thousands of appointees that work in the various departments. No wonder why no work gets done when nobody is there to run the shops. Worst case is the department of finance, inept Mnuchin is the only one in the management and leadership level. It clearly showed in the various international meetings where he was unprepared and totally clueless.
Given that Trump's only agenda is to destroy government, he is doing a fine job. His plan on creating an oligarchy of the top1% is on target. Thanks to all those morons who voted this idiot into office. Did you get your mining jobs back already?
Not only that, Trumps dipshitted coal policy will at best bring 500 to 700 new jobs in only those mines that produce high quality coal that can be used in coking plants...and only when US steel production is increased significantly. At the same time power producers are ditching coal fired plants for natural gas plants and investors are lining up for renewable energy tech. There is nobody interested in investing in coal.
It is yet another example that Trump is utterly clueless and painfully inept! Which morons voted that idiot into office? Please step forward so that we can punch you.
....Trump wants to implement massive funding cuts for airport security. This ban will do little more than ruin the US economy and make Canadian and European airlines rich, especially when they bundle a car rental or other transit options for US & Canada. Flying to Montreal and driving south instead of NYC might be an inconvenience, but folks can at least bring their laptops. Maybe Amtrak should jump on the opportunity and put more trains on the Empire corridor.
To some extent, yes. It is the new norm that actors in recurring roles get at least a million bucks per episode. That money has to come from somewhere. But cable/fiber providers tack on their own cash grabs with various bogus and official looking fees. In the end the companies can care less if folks cut the TV cord...they still need fast Internet connection and without the TV/voice bundling the Internet only plans are not that much cheaper. Plus, cord cutting is only a reasonable option for folks who are not interested in live TV. Yes, there are the services that provide live TV streaming, but they do not include local channels. In the end you can save maybe 15 bucks a month for a much higher level of inconvenience.
If the GOP wants to lose next election by double digits then go right ahead. Can't these idiots do something useful once in a while instead of cutting taxes for the rich and annoy the rest of the people to the nth degree?
Is this how he wants to make America great again? Or is that the outcome of his health care legislation: we offer everything, but you won't get any of it.
Not wanting everything for free, but 129$ for a basically deader than a door knob OS that needs community help to find out what isn't working? How about 29$ or 49$ with decent email support for a year? And 239$ for commercial use? Isn't that even more than a Windows license?
You could until the makes of Linux decided to make breaking changes so that can no longer install a modern version on my old Toshiba laptop. In all fairness, anything Win 8 and up doesn't install either. So the choices are installing an ancient, no longer supported version of Linux or Win 7. I put Win 7 back on, but since Win 7 is so bloated and inefficient performance is in the toilet. This is one example where crappy new software causes a perfectly fine piece of hardware to become useless.
I agree with dinging Lenovo for that move, but likewise we need to call out Apple for refusing to provide (at least legal) means to install OS X on the hardware of our choosing. The hardware in a Mac is off the shelf stuff for the most part, there is really no technical reason aside from drivers maybe to not allow OS X to run on any hardware.
All these cable replacement services advertise with a super cheap rate...for a few channels more than what you'd get for free over the air. Often times it is not even live stream but only select shows. In the end you pay as much as for the cable package. May vary by region, but in my case I would have even paid more if I dropped TV and phone and only kept the Internet service, that then gets really expensive due to lack of combo discounts. Plus, I'd have to switch constantly between OTA, web, and app broadcast/streams, way inconvenient.
I agree, but the conclusion that open source = safer software is not correct. Just recently Google researches found over 1000 security issues in FOSS projects. At least they could investigate the code and find these problems. Leaves the question if the project leaders now bother to have them fixed. Also, many security holes are introduced through bad online tutorials.
Microsoft needs to do more testing on their end. They have a quasi-monopoly on desktop OS and unless they deliver top notch solutions they should not lay blame on others.
And once compromised biometric passwords are extremely difficult to change. Fingerprints might be OK...got ten passwords to use, but those can get compromised all at the same time.
Maybe the solution is more in x factor authentication, add as many layers of security as possible and either have them all match or a majority of the them match or get provided. While secure the problem is that of convenience, logging in to an email account might then take 10 minutes.
That hole was patched with a March update. Your thanks need to go to those who are tardy with applying updates...and to Microsoft for making it insanely difficult to determine what an update contains and does now that they no longer publish the Security Bulletins.
You need a bank account for your pay check. I can't recall any companies other than the day laborer services that still pay in cash. Those who insist on not having a bank account are those who want to skip alimony payments. Otherwise it isn't as easy to claim that you only make 20k/year when it really is 120k.
...more Government Paradise. Now every transaction can be tracked. Those who buy the Super Emperor get that fact dished up next time they goof up at work.
I do agree that hackers will love this, one flaw in the app and plenty can be compromised. I wonder what is needed to create an account? An address? A bank account? Scan of a photo ID? Asking otherwise, how easy will it be to get a cheap prepaid, hook it up to a bogus or stolen account, and then clean out shelves at stores without ever having to pay? Currently, if someone walks out of a store without paying good security will notice that. If walking out of the store without physically paying is the norm, how easy would it be to fake a successful QR scan and walk out? Also, how easy is it to tamper with the QR codes? Move a few blocks to a different spot and put a sticker over the original sign...sure, still paying the store money, but instead of 299 it is now 2.99.
Plenty apparently, otherwise Trump would not have resorted to this Nixonian coverup attempt. Trump is an inept looser! Which even more inept looser voted that idiot into office? Please step forward!
Material Design is flat, boxy, and cold without providing clear delineations of areas in the UI. It is just a fad that will be shunned a few months from now when someone comes up with the next "best" thing.

Won't help you with zero days...but I guess your three letter agency has a broad catalog of zero days that are intentionally not shared with vendors.
You thought about this way more than Trump and his folks.

Yep! Companies and shareholders love gig economy. Saves on any commitments and most importantly on benefits.

Or did the media events on how he saves jobs lost their mojo?

Better means to spend tax money than waste it on a border wall or more nukes!
Try to change the default browser on a Chromebook....but let's bash Microsoft because it is so much fun!

I hope babbling venture capitalists are the first ones that get replaced.
