I imagine some of it is because they are part of the EU. And there is no easy way to get their economies going again. In the same way California screwed the USA which in turn screwed the world, same thing going on with Greece. Even though really it is not that much money for bailouts, being tied to the Euro screws everyone. Nobody is caring when Russia or Argentina's economies tank. They built a one size fits all system in the EU and it is not working out.
I could say the same thing about the US housing bubble. Everyone knew housing especially in California was way overvalued. They had all sorts of reality flipping shows where for suspense they would say how the market could crash at any time. Who knew it would take down the global economy? Billions lost overnight, stocks that had nothing to do with housing cut in half. Sure seems like a house of cards.
If anyone tried this they would stop getting free electricity. No company is going to spend thousands getting a server farm up on the chance nobody will catch on what they are doing. You could get away with some small time stuff, but they will catch on if you try to scam them.
You want the government to tax perceived values of unused domains? Or limit how long a domain can go "unused"? Or limit how many someone can own? There are many companies who have "prime" domains. The point here is this company is trading the domain name for a cut in the business. What are some big web names out there... google. Bing. Yahoo. Slickdeals. Woot. Autotrader. Craigslist. Facebook. Twitter. Ebay. Aside from weather.com... off the top of my head i can not really think of some site with a simple name that is a "goto". And you can get weather hundreds of other places. Valuing a domain name is not the same as actual land. Maybe this is just called squatting because nobody wants to buy these for millions. I bet someone actually offers him millions he would take it. Better to spend your advertising budget on plong.com selling perfume than giving a cut of your business to this guy or giving him millions for it. I think everyone is just pissed off they did not register these names first...
I do not know all that much about MTG, but my SO's kid plays it. There seems to be a new release of cards every few months. Certain cards get re-released, some old ones you can not use in tournament play, if a card is damaged it can't be used. There are all sorts of rare cards on whatever scale they use. I really this it is what is keeping comic book shops going. People will spend hundreds if not thousands buying cards. I am sure you can imagine to person who has to win spending that much on just one card.
Someone told me they did this in places with alabaster containers. The alabaster is porous enough to let the water evaporate through it. I have a better idea, stop living in the desert.
My SO's kids talk all the time about "famous youtubers". They don't watch TV or listen to the radio, social media and things like youtube are where they get their information. I think they are delusional thinking they are going to someday make it rich on youtube.
The kids are old enough to know what they are doing. Say the kid steals, at times we have talked to them in depth... "How do you think it makes us feel when you steal?" "Is this the kid of person you want to be?" "If you need something you can always ask for it" "You know you are not supposed to do X what were you thinking when you did it?" Maybe we are not having the correct conversation. All through it the kid just has a look of complete disgust.
I really have just about given up, it sounds bad but I don't want to spend half my free time trying to get everyone to do chores and get along. I was trying for a while, but then I get told I am the bad guy by my SO. Well, your little imps steal, don't do chores, curse and scream. All I ask is that the dishwasher gets loaded and to have things not stolen, but they can't even manage to do that. It's just going to be less stress not not care.
I didn't really see any alternatives either. Whenever I or my SO tries to reason with her kids they don't care, they are just upset they are in trouble. Talking doesn't do crap. The only thing that works is to have something taken away from them.
If skills not certs, what skills can you learn on your own that would best translate to a better job? Quite a few things seem like they are not things you can just set up in your basement to get real world experience.
I know it is not the same but sounds like an ex of mine who submitted poetry. And of course the poetry was accepted, and you will want to buy this book of poetry for an outrageous price will you not?
Most small businesses are just as bad to me, you just are not aware of what they do. Over billing customers, cheating on taxes, hiring their kids to do nothing for a bunch of money, ignoring safety regulations, then expecting you to be oh so grateful they give you the privilege of working for them. It still doesn't mean I think you should scam the "mom and pop" shop, but they are all the same to me.
I think there have been several comedic movies along those lines... always seems to work out for them. The school I went to was a joke as well. Most classes I got nothing out of.
I find their results to be terrible. At work one of my computers needed restored and I left bing as the default. I had to repeat every search I made into google. I am not sure what they do to make it so much better, and never thought it would matter what search engine I use, but it does. I can see backlash over this. People get used to typing certain things in and getting certain results back, at least I did, wait til you get people who will find it easier to switch to chrome than change their default search engine.
The alarm will probably never go off, how well will the police react to it if/when it does? Are they prepared for false alarms? Will the first responders get the data in time? Even with data showing where the shooter is the police still have to proceed with caution, there could be multiple shooters, the shooter could move. Once the police are in the school, if the shooter is still firing, it should not be difficult to determine their location without the system. You are going to have everyone calling in on their cell phones, are you going to go by the system and not the caller when they give different locations of the shooter?
It seems even if it works flawlessly in a best case scenario it really has limited benefit.
