    I liked the fingerprint sensor on the back why my finger was likely to be. Even samsung eventually saw this was the way to go.

    On the front as well souinds fine, but I see them removing the usable one.

    And fuck face id, fuck it, waste of fucking time. May as well just remove all access controls.

    Is Terrestrial HD so much differnet in the US?

    I doubt it. The bandwidth is more limited that cable/sattelite and so is compressed more here in the UK.

    Only way you are getting andwhere near reasonable bandwidth is on bluray.

    Maybe if you sat/cable are still mpeg2 you might have an argument (and that terresitrial is not mpeg2). On any channel here the HD channel downscaled looks way better then SD which I belive is in mpeg2. But people don't wantt to pay for a new box. (not sure what cable does here, It;s not available here, we are more a sat country).

    I tried a BLU device because of the price. But the quality control was horrible. The backlight was not even and often did not work. Decided to go to the next tier and got a Wiley Fox and could not be happier.

  10. Trouble is I like to open and edit my spreadsheets at work sometimes.

    And regardless of format opening a libreoffice saved spredsheet in excel does some really nasty things to formatting. Same the other way round and the word processor does not fair much better either.

    So office it is! Good job my works licence enables me to install 5 copies (or is it 6, I forget, like I need that many!). Only odd thing is my works usues office 2010 and the licence lets me install the current version as far as i can tell. Not that moving beetween office versions has been an issue since office 2010.

    It fact the cpu and camera on the new 8 seem to have been downgraded to as on the 7.

    On the 7:
    1mm thinner and 18g lighter and has a 7in display with higher contrast than before thanks to a new polarising filter.

    Battery life is now up to eight hours rather than seven, and there's dual-band instead of single-band 802.11n

    Probably similar on the 8, so not much!

    IOT is great but I'll keep out until companies understand I do not want a device that connects to thier server only and probablyu at a subscription.

    But it's getting easier and easier to do your own these days with lots of great kits around, so I'm sure I'll be fine.

    Anyone stupid enough to trust some small startup (or indeed megacorp) will get what they deserve.

    While I agree that the current trend for thin over battery life id ridiculous I would rather not go back to 4 cm laptops. I must have one of two somewhere in the loft.

    3.0cm is fine by me though. I do wonder how thic the old mono laptop brick is though. Still it ran monkey island fine!

    However an extended battery that increases the height a bit would be fine and give people the choice.

    I would really life a nice ip webcam, with remote movement and such.

    However they all seem to pretty much become useless unless you subscribe to their cloud system.

    I want my own system.

    The really sad thing is these cameras are not even cheap.

    Anyone making an unencumbered ip camera?

    They follow the law but don;t follow the indented spirit of the law.

    Vista post SP1 was pretty much fine and much like win 7. The only reason 7 was released was to combat the tarnished name of vista.

    I actually bought vista. Why? Because XP 64 bit was abandoned, and 64 bit os was needed because 4gb (often 2.5gb or even less) was not enough.

    The scary thing it that there was a win 7 32 bit and beyond! People are idiots stop giving them a choice!

    Which leads to the question what is the OS.

    The point being many current andropid distributions make the os something other than default (and what is default anyway).

    So people complain that they cant remove essential parts of an os on something they got. Maybe research it better, tools.
